  1. I ordered unjury samples first. I just love it!! except for the chicken broth I think it is too high in sodium. I have bought other GNC and vitamin world and the price is about the same as the unjury. To me it is a good product for the price. But if there is anything else better and cheaper I am open to suggestions!!!
  2. Good Morning everyone! My friend goes in today for the lapband. Please keep her in prayers for a safe surgery. sghatl, thanks I am praying for myself as well that I receive a fast insurance approval. buttercup, I don't know if you have heard of this medical quality protein powder it is Unjury. Another member on the board recommended. I ordered all the sample packets. Lots of protein I think 20g per serving. And price is not bad at all. thanks for the tip thought, I will start looking around for a cookbook and trying out some recipes. klpdbl, thanks! Maybe we should all start sharing some recipes!
  3. Hi angelsoul, what ever any of us can do just let us know. I was going to do Emory but switched to Northside Hospital Atlanta Bariatrics. I am not banded yet, but I have just finished completing my preop requirements today. Hoping to be banded soon.
  4. Hi there. I just wanted to start a thread on preop requirements. As I don't recall seeing one on the site. I have just completed all of my preop requirements today. YEAH!! My doctor's requirements were as follows: A. Attend Informational Seminar about bariatric surgeries Then: 1. Medically cleared letter (BCBS requires it says medically cleared or medically stable) for surgery from my PCP 2. Surgeon Consultation 3. Dietician Consultation 4. Psychological Evaluation 5. Pre-op testing (EKG, Echo, UGI Xray, blood tests, etc) 6. Attend Mandatory Support Group Meeting 7. Medical Diet History 8. History of last 5 years of BMI/co-morbidities(BCBS does not require) A long process....but attainable!!! I am so glad today I have completed the final steps and my doctor should have everything together by next wednesday to submit to insurance.......:biggrin1: How has your preop process been! I know it had me !
  5. thanks buttercup, how are you doing?
  6. :hail:ok I am back from seeing my pcp. It went A-OK....!!! He agreed lapband is excellent for me. And will be making my letter and will fax to Dr. Johnson within next 2 days. I am so psyched!!! I can't believe I was able to get all my preop requirements done in less than 1 month. Now waiting for doctor office to gather all paperwork and submit to insurance.... on my way:car:
  7. Yes completed all my preop testing today... feeling...:sick now.... but off to my pcp I go to get my medically cleared letter.. wish me luck
  8. did you guys see....tits got suspended!
  9. Hi there. I have had ra since I was 17 years old. I have lived so far as normal. I don't have any effects except when temperature changes. I am not banded yet, but my doctor told me it does not affect your immune system and the ra will not change.
  10. welcome riotgrrl sounds like plenty!! once I discovered the band I did the same my mind raced...i researched...read....and read.... this website is great for info! I too am 5'2 and 230. i hope to be at the closing end of this process... and crossing my fingers to be submitting to insurance soon!!! good luck!

  12. yes time is flying...thank goodness!!! Maybe it is because we are so busy between appts and getting ready for the holidays. Well I saw the dietician....went great... but come to find out I will have to see her again after I get a surgery date.....say...what....what was the point of seeing her now....jeezzzzz. but tommorrow I have my preop and hope to get my pcp medically necessary/medically stable letter...yes!!!!
  13. thanks for the good luck.... my dietician/nutritionist appt was changed from 1/2/08 to 12/12/07!!!!yes!!!!yes!!!
  14. wow....Yes...definitely mental practice is suiting me good as well. Althought I have not lost any additional lbs...I feel much better throught out the day. I will be starting next Sunday one meal replacement a day... but again congratulations....a well rested doctor sounds better than an oveworked and tired one!!!
  15. Ok...guys...so I couldn't wait to get home to watch it... but I didn't get a chance to until saturday. ok...I saw it... that is crazy!!!!!!!!! 1 more definite reason for me not to think of bypass..... they bypassed the reason why they turned to eating and it transferred over to abusing alcohol.... that is nuts.... but made sense....... Skeleton's in the closet must come out first......hmmmm being honest with myself is why I know the band is better for me... loosing the weight isn't the hardest journey ....is once im there keeping it off is most terrifying...because i know my emotional eating and my selfless thinking of...1 day wont' hurt..or I already screwed up might as well start tomw again..and enjoy today...and so on... it was a great show!
  16. Dear Val, That is great that you have a good support system offline as well. That was exactly what I was looking for. At work I know someone who had RNY. I am not sure if I should open up to her or not. I don't want other people to know....just yet anyways....and I'm afraid she'll tell. So for now this site is my support. Dear Jfran, Your meetings might turn out to informational but atleast you guys have fun. A fashion show sounds awesome.... get a chance to strut your stuff and show them your change!!! that is great!
