  6. congrats girl! I was banded 9/9 with the realize band. I just got my first fill which was 3 cc. The band only holds 9cc. It is installed without fill but you may have done due to the initial swelling from surgery. I lost 11 lbs 1 week post op. I have lost a total of 21 lbs since surgery. Keep us posted on your progress!
  7. Hi all I missed the start of the 30 day challenge but I did launch my couch to 5k program this week. If you are not familiar, it is an interval training program that will have you running a 5k in 9 weeks! I completed week 1 and loved it! The workout is basically 30 minutes and you alternate between walking and running. Each week you decrease your walking and increase your running. I found a hip hop podcast that has great music and verbal prompt to start running or walking. I use the treadmill but the beauty is you really don't need equipment. Just go outside. Here is the link to the podcast: Suz's Couch to 5k Running Podcasts | Inside the Mind of Suz Here is some more info: Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan Couch to 5k - C25K Running Program I hope some of you will join me!

  11. I am loving your new avatar! I got my fill yesterday and it was a breeze. I got 3cc in my 9cc band . I did not think I would get that much but it was a pleasant surprise! I have been doing great since Saturday after my temporary insanity! The scales even moved. I lost 21 lbs since surgery 6 weeks ago. The doc was really pleased. I missed out on the 30 days exercise challenge so I started the couch to 5k. I found a hip hop podcast. I love it so much that I might start a thread and see if anyone bites. How is it going for you?

  17. You can find it at the a beauty supply store (one that caters to umm..women of color-see why this forum exists? lol) Or an African vendor. The raw butter has a very nutty smell it is thick and yellow. Sometimes a vendor will sell it mixed with an oil to scent it but the unscented is ok. I just put on a scented lotion afterwards. Hope this link help!:grouphug::thumbup: Buy Bulk Wholesale 100% Pure and Unrefined African Shea Butter: The African Store.
  18. luluc, I defected from the political threads, you are absolutely correct in stating why some people have left. I actually unsubscribed but peeked in when I was on the new posts page.
  19. I cosign that as well ladies. I would also like to add: we welcome any positive advice or input that will help us on this journey! Now with that said : how are the scars looking? Mine didnt keloid but they are dark. The staple marks make them look worse. I have some natural shea butter I just have to commit to using it everyday.
  20. Only my dh and mom know about my band. Hopefully I will have my 2nd fill by then meaning more restriction. I plan to eat mostly protein (turkey) and definitely some collard greens. I actually hope to lose a little weight during that week.
  21. I go for my first fill on Wednesday!!! I really struggled last week but by Sat. I got myself together. I was so afraid to get on the scale...but when I did it showed that I did not gain any weight. I took that as a sign that I need to get myself in check. I got my water in today ate a lot of protein. I did really good. Tomorrow I am going to start the couch to 5 k program using the treadmill at the gym! I am going to download a podcast tonight that will help me with the run/walk cues. Wish me luck. How are you coming along?
  22. Hey nayray glad to know that you and band-jo made it out of st. elsewhere ok! Keep us posted on your recovery.
  23. Hey ya'll, my first fill is in 6 days! I am getting hungry! It is getting harder and harder to stay focused on eating healthy options. I think I need to regroup and go back to more protein shakes. :wink2:
  24. I had never thought about that. It makes sense. I really like the blakely tights from target. They hold up pretty well. Have you tried them?
