Wrapping my mind around it
So, I was doing good, tracking my protein, calories, and carbs, eating good stuff, getting in lots of fruits and veggies. I actually lost about 10 pounds! Then BOOM! it was all over. I am feeling hungry all the time, eating just about anything I want, not getting my water in. I know the hunger is probably due at least in part to increased sugar intake. I am eating like a mad woman!!! :bored: And worse even, I am sneaking to do it! I stop by and buy food when I am alone in the car and eat it between home and work. Or I will buy a soda and drink it like I have been stranded in the desert or something! Candy bars at the grocery store that I eat on the way home. I have lost my mind!!! I was so proud of myself for doing so well and not even banded yet, but I am blowing it all out of the water now. The doctor even commented on how well I was doing and now I am afraid when I go for my pre-op visit I will have regained some of what I had lost and be ashamed all over again! I was so committed to this change and what it would mean for my life and now, I still am in my heart, but my head just isn't cooperating. What is wrong with me?:confused2:

skinny bitches i call friends
The only "flaw" she has been able to judge you on has been your weight all this time. She is getting ready to lose that and realizes it might just make you a better person than her and it scares her! Society in general looks down on fat people, and I have found that because of that, some people think if they have just one fat "friend" there will always be someone around who looks worse than them, no matter they do. Very sad, inded. Keep working the plan and losing weight and just walk away. One day you will be healthy, thin and fabulous and she will see you and in her heart know that you are indeed everything she is not. And be sure to let the "good" friend know how much you appreciate her understanding and support. Good luck and congratulations on your band!

2 days banded.....
Sorry you are suffering, but it will get better with time. The hardnpart is over and now it's time to enjoy the ride! Like someone else said, remind your son that you brought him into this world. It is mother's day afterall. Make him a list or tell him very specifically what you need him to do. I know if my 17 y/o doesn't have very specific instructions, he is lost. Good luck and let us know how you're feeling today!

Motivation to Stick To A Pre-Op Diet
That certainly is an eye opener! Thanks for sharing!

any advice needed please.
Start tracking everything you put in your mouth. Some good sites to do this on that are free are dailyplate.com and sparkpeople.com. Even liquid calories can make you gain weight, so if your liquid consumption is anything other than sugar free or Water, that could be the culprit. I'm sorry you are going through all of this. Good luck getting back on track!

ur What Tests Did You Need Pre-Op?
I had blood work, ECHO, and upper GI. Also had to see the psych and take the nutrition/fitness class and test on that information. For my own peace of mind, I also had my yearly ob/gyn physical and she ordered a mammogram. Now I am just waiting on a date!

Anyone have the Realize band?
Thank you all for sharing all the info. My doctor said he should be doing Realize by the time I have surgery and would offer me the option of being one of his first patients to get it, so these first-hand opinions are great! Thanks again!

Lap-band Convention
Sounds like a lot of fun!

Ate Too Much
From what I have been told, it is harder to stretch the stomach than it would seem to be. Relax and try not to get distracted next time you eat.

Overnight stay
My doctor requires an overnight stay too.

negativity from family and friends
You will find this is a topic that comes up a LOT here on this board. Unfortunately, sometimes those closest to us are the ones who understand us the least. Would your husband attend a seminar with you to learn more about the band and what it does? Has he seen you struggle to diet, only to lose weight and gain it all back plus more? Is it possible that he is just afraid of the change? My husband was less than supportive when I first started this journey too, but he gradually came around and realized that if we are going to grow old together and enjoy retirement one day, this is a necessity or he will be old and alone because chances are I will be dead. Good luck to you. Let us know how things go.

Just got approval
A lot of us also carry that fear of failure into surgery with us. By the time we reach the point of considering surgery, we have failed so many times that we can't believe this may actually work! Look at the threads about getting rid of clothes. There are a lot of people here who have piles of clothes in various decreasing sizes just piling up because they are afraid of failure. I have only lost 10 pounds because I am pre-op, but can already tell I will be one of those people. Just know that everything you are feeling is natural and you can always find someone on here who is going through the same things.

My friend is losing her mind! HELP!
 A true friend would be happy you are taking steps to improve your life and not expect you to stay fat to make them look better. Obviously SHE is the one with issues. I would continue avoiding her and not give her the opportunity to cause you any further pain. I'm sorry you are losing a friend, but hopefully you are gaining some insight. Good luck!

New Bander
Hi and welcome to LBT! Did you have any fill at surgery time? If not, any restriction you felt after surgery will diminish as you heal and the swelling goes down. Just let your doctor know you are feeling hungry when you go in for that check-up. It sounds like you are doing well dealing with "bander hell". Keep up the good work!

Mad at myself
I'm sorry you are having to deal with all of this! At least you are aware that you are not doing your best and it didn't take getting on the scale and discovering you had gained 20 pounds for that to happen. Since you are in a situation where you have to eat out, try to make smart choices. Avoid fried foods and sauces, remember the protein first rule, eat slowly and stop eating when you feel full. Good luck to you and I hope your life gets back to "normal" soon!

Has anyone tried the Viactiv Multi Vitamin chews?
I have the chocolate ones and found they had a strong vitamin after taste. They are sitting on my shelf. Maybe I should try them again and give them more of a chance. It could just be an acquired taste.

What are you doing with all your clothes?
I have read about support groups having clothing swaps so that as you move down before you reach goal, you won't have to buy so many different sizes. I am hoping to start one once attendance gets up at my local support group. We just had our first meeting in April.

should I laugh or cry???
This sounds like the best solution to me as well. Have something high in Protein to help get you through your workout, and yet felling enough to last you until you can get dinner fixed. IMO, as long as you stick to your doctor's calorie, protein, carb requirements for the day, it should be up to you when you get them and how. The same plan isn't going to work for everyone and obviously the way it is now, his plan is not working for you. Take care and try to keep you chin up! Always choose laugh over cry.

37 Days to go and nervous!
Your anxiety is normal, especially since you have the added pressure of losing weight before surgery. Just stick with what you're doing and you should do very well. Before you know it, worrying about your weight will be the farthest thing from your mind. Good luck!

It works !!!!!!
