When the few people that knew I was getting the band found out, they all wanted to know what I was going to do with all my clothes. Most of my friends were the same size or bigger than me and wanted to go shopping in my closet. I have been giving one of my best friends my clothes but my bottoms are too small for her. I figured the stuff she couldn't wear I would give to Goodwill or some other charity organization.

What have you been doing with your clothes?

Someone gave me good advice on what to do with clothes. As you go down in sizes, give all the big clothes away. That way if you start to slip and gain, you will have to actually buy more clothes, and I don't know about you, it usually motivates me to do better if I feel my pants gettin' tight. It's a lot harder to go out and buy new fat clothes than it is to go to the back of your closet and dig 'em out, so definitely get rid of them (I think this is a good way of holding myself accountable). All of mine go to goodwill because all my friends are skinny minnies, they appreciate all donations. :thumbup:

Give them to a homeless shelter or a home for battered women.

I have read about support groups having clothing swaps so that as you move down before you reach goal, you won't have to buy so many different sizes. I am hoping to start one once attendance gets up at my local support group. We just had our first meeting in April.

I gave away a bunch of my clothes to a friend who desperately needed them, but the stuff I knew she wouldn't like (dressy stuff) I took to a women's consignment shop.

I intend to use the credit towards future purchases as I drop sizes.

Well, the support group we (Egorsgirl and I) has an occasional clothing exchange. People bring in their clothes that are too big and get something smaller. Works out great for everyone.

But if I had my way, Egorsgirl would just have to run nekkid!:thumbup:

We have a clothes exchange at the doctor's office. You can check with them. I think it's a great idea and this way your not spending lots of money on clothes until you get to your goal weight. Have a nice day!!!:thumbup:

I tend to only have enough clothes to get through laundry day and only in whatever size I am. I am always kind of amazed when people talk about digging something out of the closet that they used to wear and having it fit. My stuff wears out too fast since it's always getting washed.

This is what comes of hating to go clothes shopping and only being able to shop in the fat lady department, I guess. :tt1:

I've had a yard sale and am Ebaying most of mine. I have a lot of dressy work clothes, so I'm just trying to make enough to buy more as needed.

I sold a bunch of my nice dressy clothes on ebay. I'm also going to try my hand at altering some of my work slacks. I'm not zooming through the sizes in my shirts, only my pants.

I gave mine to a friend, Goodwill and my mom took them to her Weight Watchers meeting to give them away. I probably have donated 10 bags of clothes over 2 years.

I've been doing a combination of giving to Goodwill and going to my tailor. She's cheap and does a great job. She's talked me into altering the hemline as well. I had been wearing ankle long dresses. She told me since I am short that I needed to wear them closer to my knee. It's been a lot of fun "recycling" my clothes.

So far: one huge load to the local women's shleter; one bag to Goodwill. Next bag of business clothes is probably to a consignment store; I found a dress I bought last year, new with the tags still on it - $150, and now too big. I never thought of EBay - is it a hassle to do the photographing, and measuring (because we know one manufacturers 18 is anothers 2X), and getting the payments and shipping stuff?? (Obviously, I have never done the Ebay thing!)

Mostly I donate them since I know plus sizes have been harder to come by in the past in thrift stores or for shelters.

I have a couple of more expensive items that I'm considering taking to consigment soon though. A bandster in my area opened a consignment store a couple years ago.

In the past year I have given my old clothes to one of my girlfriends but she never wears them because she keeps gaining weight. So now all of my new size 16 clothes that I will soon have to get rid of as my new clothes are now being purchased in Juniors size 14. I have decided to take them to a consignment shop as all the new 16's came from Lane Bryant and Macy's, I figured I could get some cash for them and use the cash in the consignment shop to purchase size 12 clothers that I like (because that's my goal size).
