Anyone have exercise equipment they can recommend?

I like the Wii fit. It goes with your comfort level. My surgeon recommended it. It's also pretty cheap when you see how much you get for it.

    At hom dvds or videos

Absolutely! I'm not a "gym" girl. I do the Wii fit at home, lit weights at home, swim at home, and walk the neighborhood.
  3. That's interesting. I've never had any trouble reaching Karen. She's been wonderful to work with.

    help

I agree with Terra's Mom. I'd get checked out by a doctor on Monday if possible.

    Would love to help...

If you don't have too many replies yet on your offer to be a bandster buddy, I would love your help. I was banded on April 3rd and have lost 62lbs thus far. I sure would love to have some insight on A) how to keep losing (I've had a bad plateau recently) How do you keep the weight off and "normailze" when your goal is reached?

Congratulations! That's wonderful news! You've been approved and scheduled. In my opinion, that's the hardest part! Get ready to get skinny!

I'd like to have a bandster buddy

What I've been doing is staying away from all carbs with exception to potatoes and the carbs in cheese. I occaisionally will have a whole wheat tortilla. Outside of that, I eat a lot of salad and chicken. I like beef too, but if it's not hamburger meat, it takes forever for me to chew it. I eat a lot of steamed veggies, sugar free chocolate pudding, sugar free apple sauce, and of course the occaisional protien shake. I'm seeing a nutritionist and she told me to begin adding almonds to my diet. I will start doing that today.
  9. I've been banded since April 3rd. I'd be happy to helpnewbies, but I think I need a buddy who has more experience with the band too. The three month mark is fast approaching. I've got the liquid, mushy and solid stages down pat. Now I need help with what else I can eat. Also, someone that could help motivate me, and someone I could motivate would be great.

I'd like to have a bandster buddy

Sounds good. Let's be bandster buddies. What part of the country are you in? I'm in Texas. How has your bandster journey been thus far?
  11. I think I'm taking better care of myself now. However, I'm not used to the attention I'm getting. I highlighted my hair and have been buying a few new clothes to intersperse with my newly taken in ones. Although, I'm not comfortable with being looked up and down and told I've made great progress. Frankly, I feel uncomfortable at best.
  12. I had mine repaired too. I had no idea I had one, but am glad they fixed it while doing the band. You are doing the right thing by investigating everything while in pre-op. You need to learn all that you can about the band, what to expect after surgery and what to expect forthe rest of your life. It was the right option for me and giving up cokes, beer and bread haven't been difficult. I've really been enjoying losing weight and finding myself again. It's done wonders for my self esteem and I have a great doctor.

    Cranky

I've been banded since April 3rd, and have done well in my weight loss thus far. However, I don't know what to think about what is going on with me emotionally. I'm cranky and irratable a lot. There are mood swings galore. I've always been pretty well adjusted and normal. However, post banding has been something else. I like that I don't eat much anymore and I'm pleased with how my body is change. Also, I've got great support from family and friends. What the heck is wrong with me?:welldoneclap:

What are you doing with all your clothes?

I've been doing a combination of giving to Goodwill and going to my tailor. She's cheap and does a great job. She's talked me into altering the hemline as well. I had been wearing ankle long dresses. She told me since I am short that I needed to wear them closer to my knee. It's been a lot of fun "recycling" my clothes.

    Ouch! Hurt feelings!

if mom-in-law isn't at her ideal weight, you could suggest she join you on working with you on the next 10 lbs or so. In one way it could be taken that she might not be as skinny as a super model. In another way, it could become a bonding experience if she does take a 10 lb challenege with you. You could exchange recipes and exercise together etc. I'm lucky. I've got a great mom-in-law and dad-in-law. As far as people having ugly things to say... Ignore them. Life is too short to worry about them or their opinions. At the end of day, all that matters is what you and God think. I think He would be and is pleased.

    Year Plus Blahs

Just like romance when it's new... it's exciting and gets you really swept off your feet. Then, romance turns into a long lasting commitement, respect, awesome friendship, partnership and the other person completes you. I'm not talking from experience regarding the band. I've only had mine since April 3rd. However, I think that the band in a year from now won't be as exciting. It's a tool for weight loss. When you've been on a diet a long time it does get boring. Just like marriage, you need date nights and you've got to work at it to keep the marriage healthy and happy. As for the band, I love to cook. I've been trying to keep interesting recipes on hand and trying new ones. That's how I'm keeping it going. Cooking is an art form. It might "spice up" living with the band. Also, have you considered trying a new form of exercise? Right now, I'm just swimming and walking around the block. I hope in a year from now to treat myself to a couples dance class or take karate. Again, I know I'm not talking from experience, but I hope this helps.

How much do you have to lose?

I was banded April 3rd and have lost 40 lbs. I've been in bandster hell and am looking forward to my fill next week. I've plateaued and need some help since I am so hungry all of the time.
  23. Do the food diary, walka nd exercise everyday, live each day to the fullest, and before you know it you will be losing weight again. Keep the faith and keep us posted. We are all here to support each other.
  24. I eat spicy stuff all of the time. My husband makes homemade salsa and I get the fat free refried beans to sooth my spicy food craving. Also,yo might want to try making Chicken tortilla soup without the tortillas. Every band is different, but mine is allowing me to eat spicy. Take it slow and see what your tummy can handle.

    No drinking with meals?

It's not bad not drinking with your meals. You can have a sip to keep your mouth from getting too dry while eating, but I've not had that issue yet. I'm in my early weight loss and do a lot of diet soups and mushy stuff. You can drink 20 minutes before you eat though and of course 20 minutes after you eat. Also, there's some great sugar free flavor powders that you can add to your water to vary the taste.
