  1. Congratulations Jillrn! That's wonderful! Good luck and thanks for sharing!
  2. Renewedhope I'm sorry about your foster kids, I know you miss them, but at least they are with family. It really is a challenge being a SAHM, financially speaking. My husband and I have made a lot of changes in order to make it work. I've been a SAHM for almost 2 years now and I just can't imagine it any other way. I am truly blessed for the opportunity to do this. We had actually thought about about homeschooling our son, but I think we have decided against it for now. I'm actually taking some online courses to become a medical transcriptionist so I can work from home. I'm not sure what the future holds for us in regards to having another baby. We decided it would be a good idea for me to work from home in case we do decide to have another kiddo (after I reach my goal weight). Speaking of goal weight, I'm really having a rough time right now with food. I just got a fill and I think I may be at my sweet spot, but I keep eating all this junk food. I've actually gained a couple of pounds. It's really depressing. I hope once I start feeling better, I will make this weight loss happen. Sorry for rambling, but it's nice to have someone to talk to about this. My husband just doesn't understand. Don't get me wrong, he's great and supportive of my weight loss.......it's just hard because he keeps junk food in the house. I keep telling him he needs to start eating healthy and try to lose weight with me, but you can't make someone do it. It would be so much easier if he would do this with me. He probably needs to lose about 60 lbs. I worry about his health because his bloodwork came back that his "good cholestorol" is low and is "bad cholestorol" is high. The doctor put him on a diet a few months ago and he just wouldn't stick to it. The new bloodwork from a few days ago came back even worse. Again, sorry to ramble, just needed to vent a little. Thanks for listening. How have you been doing with the dieting?
  3. I don't see why you couldn't use eggbeaters, I've never used it, so I don't know how much. Let us know how it turns out if you try it!
  4. Well, I just called the Subway in my town and they don't serve soup . Man, I was soooo excited too............oh well.
  5. I had no idea that subway served soup! I used to love subway and I haven't been there since being banded. My husband loves it too and we never go because I didn't think there was anything I can eat. I know they serve salads, but I'm not a huge salad fan and I'm a little scared to eat lettuce. I've heard a lot of people say they can't eat it. I'll have to try salad at home first! I will definitely be willing to go now since I know they serve soup! Thnaks for sharing!
  6. Thanks for the Parmesan tip Frustrated! I made some canned chicken with a little bit of ranch dressing (just enough to make it a little creamy) and parmesan cheese and it was delicious!
  7. I used the weight when I weighed at my first lapband appointment, which was about 1 month before my actual surgery. It just so happens that it was my highest weight ever. I used that weight because that's when I actually started my process with the pre-op diet and I was very proud of myself for sticking to it.
  8. I'm not feeling Bob either! I was really disappointed in his decision for picking his team. I thought he simply only cared about winning, not the feelings of the contestants. I think he just wants to beat Jillian, at all cost. I mean, he could have mixed the teams up to be fair. I could be wrong, but I really think Jillian would NOT have picked only the heaviest ones that could drop the most weight. In all honesty though, I think they are better off with Jillian, even if they don't win. Brittany and Bernie were pretty upset because they had been representing the blue team all along, it was sad. I really like Brittany and Bernie too! They are my favorite.
  9. Good luck with the fill, I hope it's "the one". I can tell a huge difference since my last fill, I just hope it lasts this time. My scales haven't been moving either, but it's mostly because of me. I haven't been able to exercise and I've been eating crappy food. As soon as this ear infection is better, I am going to start really working on my exercising. Does the Metformin make you feel drained? I have enough hormone issues as it is and I haven't had any energy in months, but I have noticed since I've been taking my new medications, I have even less energy. It's depressing because I just want to feel good again. I think one of my biggest problems is sleep deprivation. I just ordered a relaxation CD that's supposed to help you go to sleep a few days ago. I really think I have insomnia, I usually stay up till at least 2 am, sometimes 3 am and I don't take naps during the day either (Except today, I was up all night with my ear hurting, so when my son takes his nap, so am I).
  10. Congrats, great NSV! I don't think it's crazy at all to make a big deal about it (because it is a big deal), it's these crazy NSV's that help us get our confidence back and feel good about what we have accomplished. I can feel mine when I'm laying down, but I can't see them yet.........I'll be sooo excited when I can!
  11. Wantitbad, maybe there is something in the slim fast that just isn't agreeing with you. You might want to try switching to a different shake for a while and see if it does the same thing, then go from there. Hope it gets better for you soon!
  12. I ordered some from Puritan's Pride a while ago and I haven't had to use them yet. I have them just in case I ever get stuck. I've also heard that you can sip on pineapple juice if something gets stuck. I have both but never had to use either, I'd rather be safe than sorry though.
  13. Renewed, did you ever start back taking Metformin? I've been off of my Actos Metformin since my fill last Tuesday. I wasn't able to eat enough food and I was feeling light-headed and drugged all the time. I've just started to eat a little bit of meat and more textured foods, so I'll probably start back taking it tomorrow. I was just wondering if it was working okay for you if you are taking it.
  14. Bloo, edamame is basically a soy bean. It's very high in protein and fiber and low in net carbs. In the frozen section at walmart, there are some frozen vegetables by Green Giant called Healthy Weight Vegetables. It's a mixture of edamame, black beans, sugar snap peas, and carrots that you steam in the bag. That's how I got started eating them. FairyFacade posted that she ordered some lightly salted dry roasted edamame from snackaisle.com and I thought I would give them a try. The dry roasted ones almost taste like peanuts to me, very crunchy and they have a nutty taste. 1/4 of a cup has 130 cal., 4g of fat, 2 net carbs (10g total minus 8g of fiber) and 14g of protein. The only qualm I have is that they are a little dry since we can't drink while eating them. I have a hard time waiting 30-60 minutes afterwards, but they are very good and it's a good way to get in some low carb protein. I know at Sam's you can buy them in the frozen section, but they are still in the pods, so after you cook them, you have to pick the beans out of the pod. My sister eats them that way all the time. I like them best in the Healthy weight vegetables brand, cooked.
  15. Jachut, I had to google ryvitas, lol. The ryvitas sound good, and the sultanas are just raisins right?
  16. Hey everyone, this is great! Now we have a place to come and discuss PCOS related issues. Thanks Alex! Some of our topics can get a little graphic, lol! I'm excited about this!
  17. Have you tried walking or chewable gas-x? I didn't have a lot of gas, but I read that walking and chewable gas-x worked well for some. Hope it gets better soon.
  18. 1 to 2 lbs is what my surgeon said to expect. Remember, it's not supposed to be fast. That being said, I do think it can come off a little faster, depending on your determination. I've lost a total of 66 pounds in about 21 weeks, that averages out to about 3 pounds per week. I think you'll find that once you are banded, you probably won't lose consistantly every week. I go through spurts, I may not lose for a few weeks........then BAM! I've lost 5 pounds. It's strange.
  19. Thanks Bloo! I got my doctor to call me in some drops, so hopefully I'll get better soon. Here's what I had today, I don't have the numbers though: Breakfast- low carb slim fast Lunch- 1/3 cup canned chicken mixed with melted cheese and ranch dressing Snack- a handful of dry roasted edamame Dinner- 1 cup pumpkin chili
  20. My sister gives the phone to her 2 year old son when telemarketers call. He loves to talk on the phone and eventually the telemarketer just hangs up on him. He can talk your ears off, lol! Fortunately, I don't have to deal with them. We got rid of our land line phone and now we just use our cell phones. I'm sure there are some telemarketers out there with some outrageous stories about how people handle their calls.
  21. I tried canned chicken mixed with melted cheese and ranch dressing today......it was really good. I didn't think I liked canned chicken very much, but it was surprisingly good, very tender and it went down pretty good.
  22. You know, I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. I'm always cutting up my son's meat and I was looking at his plate, then looked at my plate......... and my pieces were cut up smaller than his, lol! It sounds weird to say that my 2 year old can eat more than me........
  23. I rarely ask to eat off of the kids menu, I have a few times and I've never had a problem with any of the restaurants and I've never showed a card. I try to avoid buffets because I refuse to pay $15 for 1/2 cup of food. I can understand why they wouldn't give you a child's rate and portion at a buffet, but other places where you order from a menu should work with you. Most of the time I order off of the appetizer menu or if I want a full meal, I take leftovers home.
  24. I drink a slim fast every morning for Breakfast. I am usually pretty tight in the mornings (especially since my fill last week), and I find that I have pressure in my chest as I am drinking it. It usually takes me longer than 20 minutes to drink it, probably around 30 minutes. I just take really, really small sips and wait a few minutes in between sips. Since Slim Fast is much thicker than regular Clear liquids, maybe you should try slowing down a little more and see if it helps. I seriously doubt you've stretched your pouch on liquids. I think it's harder to stretch the pouch than most people think. I'm no doctor, but just from reading other posts, I don't think you've stretched it. Try slowing down and see what happens. Hope this helps.
  25. It really depends on the insurance and the surgeon. I have BCBS Federal Employee Program insurance and it only took about a month from my first visit (they sent the claim to the insurance company right after my 1st visit) to surgery day. I was very lucky because some insurance companys require a monitored diet for months. Have you met with a surgeon yet? If the surgeon doesn't require a bunch of pre-op stuff, you can probably get the surgery pretty quick going self-pay.
