This is our 7th month!
Most everyday I drink a low carb slim fast for Breakfast (20g protein). I am not a big breakfast eater in the first place, so it works out really good for me. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about it. Tell him you are pretty tight in the mornings and it's really hard to get solid food down. Maybe he would be okay with it.

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits
Leslie Don't worry, it's totally normal. My weight went up and down for a while after I started mushies. Just do the best you can until your fill. Have you started any type of exercising? I know you can't do anything strenuous yet, but has Dr. B cleared you to walk? Walking will help in keeping you from gaining until your fill. Onder woman Congrats on your surgery coming up. Wow, less than a week away. As far as your work situation goes, some people just need to be told to mind their own business. Most people will respect your decision not to share, but some are just too nosey. Maybe your secretary hushed her up. Hopefully she will not continue to ask you about it. If she continues, you may just have to point blank tell her it's none of business. Then maybe she will get it, lol! Anyway, good luck with your surgery on Monday. Be sure to check in when you feel like posting.

This is our 7th month!
Wow, I can't beleive it's been 7 months!! It has been a lot harder than I thought too! I've really had to step up the cardio lately. All in all, I am very happy with my results. I still have bad days (and weeks), but it is sooo much better than my pre-band days. Everyone is doing so well! I'm so proud of everyone!

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits
Congrats Jeannie, that's awesome!! I can't wait to be "overweight", as strange as that sounds, lol. I am also the baby of the family and I am definitely still daddy's little girl, I always will be. It is funny that no matter how old we get, we still want to please our parents. You have done so well, Jeannie. Keep up the good work!

My PCP is disappointed...
Do you like coffee? Sometimes I blend my shake (chocolate) with some leftover coffee and ice.... I love it!!

Finally approved!
Congratulations on your approval!! I agree that low carb works to drop pounds quickly. I have done many times. I have done the 2 week induction (Atkins) before and lost about 15 pounds. Good luck to you!!

Dizzy
Since you are not drinking much, you could be a little dehydrated. Try getting some gatorade (there is a new one with less calories, G2 I think) and see if that helps. Try to work up to drinking more too. Hope you feel better soon.

Banded April 11. Eating Question
Congrats on the 25 lb weight loss! I suggest you go back to creamy fluids. Even though you probably didn't hurt anything, it is best to follow your doctors guidelines to a T. Give your stomach time to heal. I know it's hard to be on liquids, but it is crucial that you follow your doctors instructions, especially the first few weeks. Believe me, it will be worth it. Good luck to you!

Headache, weak spells
JennyLynn First of all, congrats on the surgery. Sorry you are feeling bad, be sure to up your Water intake and see if that helps. Okay, I'm not harping on you, but you need to be very careful with your food. Some of the things you listed that you ate are NOT considered mushies. Deli meat and broccoli are not mushies. I know deli meat is pretty soft, but you need to give your stomach time to heal. You've only been banded for 3 days! I am amazed that you are already on mushies. I was on liquids for at least 2 weeks. Did your doctor say it was okay to start eating mushies? Did he/she give you a list of appropriate foods to eat? Please be careful, I would hate for you to mess up your band. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon.

Long time reader
LaLaLoser, Congrats on your surgery! How are you doing?

Long time reader
Welcome to LBT Drew! Congrats on your decision to get lapband. I'm so glad I did it, best health related decision I've ever made. Regarding your question about the time frame, it depends on many factors. Have you been to a seminar yet? Are you going through insurance or are you self-pay? Have you met with a doctor yet? If you are going through insurance, some companies require you to do a supervised diet for a while before surgery. It's much faster if you are self-pay. I was lucky, I have BCBS Federal Emp insurance and I had a surgery date set for 3 weeks after my 1st consult. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Hi, sorry you are having problems. I haven't experienced what you are, but I just wanted to tell you that I hope things get better soon. PS - you would probably get a better response if you posted this in the complications forum.

Size goal vs Pound goal
I set my goal for 150 lbs. I have no idea what size I will be when I reach that goal. I would love to be a size 8, so who knows. I'm not even sure I will be happy at 150 lbs, only time will tell. I plan to keep going until I am healthy and happy.

April Exercise Challenge
Hi everyone! I thought I would update ya'll about my staph infection. It turned out I had MRSA staph, which was a real bummer. I had a pretty hard time with it, but I am much better now. My leg is looks and feels so much better. I am also having problems with my neck/shoulder area, my doc thinks I may have pulled a muscle, so I am on meds for that too. I am afraid I won't make my original goal, but I am going to start doing cardio again on Monday. I won't be able to do any strength training until my shoulder gets better, but I'm excited to get to start doing some cardio. Ya'll have been doing great! Keep up the nice work!!

severe nausea
Are you getting in enough liquids? Could you be dehydrated? The reason I ask is because right after my surgery, I couldn't drink hardly anything and I got really dehydrated and very nauseous. It was really bad and it lasted for a whole week. I took some Phenergan and it did help some. I know it's been a few months since your surgery, but if you aren't getting in enough liquids, you could be dehydrated. If you think you are, get some Gatorade and that should help some. Are you feeling weak as well? Dizzy or lightheaded? Headaches? Definitely call your doctor regardless. You need to be seen if you are dry heaving. Let us know what your doctor says.

step 1... a long way to go...
Hi Sandi and welcome to LBT! Like you, I think I've tried every diet out there and I've no luck with keeping the weight off with any of them. I was banded 9-20-07 and I am very pleased with my results so far. This is the best decision I could have made for my health. I absolutely love my band! Good luck with your seminar and I wish you the best. Keep us posted on your progress and let me know if you have any questions. I'm no expert, but I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.

Insurance approval
That's sweet of you to say. I know you miss her and I send you my condolences. I'm glad to hear you are not giving up. Sometimes it's easier just to give up and go back to our old ways and I commend you for trying to find a way to make this happen. You are quite a trooper. Whatever happens, I wish you the best and I hope everything works out for you. Keep us posted on your progress.
