  1. Apples, you have such a great attitude. I'm not sure I could be as positive as you if I had gone through that. What an inspiration you are. Have you ever been tested for sleep apnea? I was going through that a few months before I had surgery. I felt sleepy during the day and my muscles ached and I just felt exhausted all the time. My Primary Physician recommended a sleep study and sure enough, I have sleep apnea. It's something you might want to look into. Many people don't realize how dangerous it can be for your health, if left untreated (heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and more). Check it out, it's better to be safe than sorry.
  2. Thanks, I will look tomorrow!
  3. Hey Steve. I'm sorry your insurance doesn't cover the surgery. I have BCBS Federal Employee Plan and luckily, they covered 90% of the procedure. You're right, it is ridiculous that they cover penile implants and not lapband surgery. Just do all the research you can about lapband and when you feel confident that your well educated, jump in. Good luck at your seminar. Here is a link to a thread about questions to ask reguarding pre-op and post-op http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f73/surgery-questions-ask-20271/ Good luck to you and I hope everything works out for you.
  4. That's okay, thank's anyway. I have some chai tea that I got from Winn Dixie, but I do want to look for that SF apple cidar. Is the apple cidar a liquid or a powder? And also, what brand is the cidar? If I can't find it at Wal-mart or Winn Dixie, I'll look online for some. Thanks.
  5. Well said, Wheets. I totally agree.
  6. I had terrible nausea right after surgery, for about 5 days to be exact. I never actually vomitted but came close several times. I thought it was due to the pain medication, so I stopped taking it. It continued and my doctor suggested that I could be dehydrated, because I only got nauseated when I moved around. I won't lie, it was aweful. Once my swelling went down and I was able to drink more, it got better. I haven't had any nausea since. It can be rough, but it was all worth IMO.
  7. Hi Rosalinda I'm sorry you are having complications with the band. You have done really well with your weight loss. Try searching the complications forum, you might find more information there. You could also post your thread over there too. Here's the link Lap-Band Complications - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support Good luck and I hope things are straightened out soon.
  8. Hey Sparker, welcome! Good luck at the seminar and hope everything works out for you.
  9. Thanks sghatl and 4jin, I'll look for these things. There's not a Kroger here in Moultrie, but I'll check at Wal-Mart.
  10. Wow, sghatl, I can't believe how great you are doing, and the fact you had a hernia repaired at the same time, I'm just amazed. Being on liquids ,for so long, can get boring. I absolutely love chai tea. The other night I made some with low sugar apple juice and added a little splenda and it taste like hot apple cidar. What kind of SF apple cidar do you buy? I love drinking that at this time of year. I'm so glad you are doing well.
  11. That's great lapinND! Hope it happens for you soon. Sounds like you have everything under control. Keep up the good work.
  12. 4jin- Congrats and hope it happens for you soon! Buttercup- Glad you are still doing well. I also find it hard to keep a variety of food going. sghatl- How are you doing?
  13. I agree. I lurked around on this forum months before I became banded and some of the things I read scared me to death. In the end, I was willing to take the risk.
  14. Rebandit, I disagree. I have read threads and posts that describe the good, the bad, and the ugly experiences with the band. So far, I haven't had any problems with the band, who knows what the future holds, but I knew coming into this that it would not be easy and there were risks for complications and so forth. I read about many of them here on LBT. So, I do not think this forum is focusing ONLY on the postive.
  15. I agree with most of your post. Her being like a "chameleon" is very good for her success. Like I said earlier, I saw her Macon, Ga. show and the southern accent sounded really forced and unnatural to me. I have no problems with Oprah. There are many public figures that do the same thing. Oprah just happened to be the one that this thread was about.
  16. All this talk about "penis pumps" has given me a mental picture of Austin Powers...............and that's NOT a good thing.............help!
  17. I'm totally excited about it! It's one of my all-time favorite shows. I love to sing and I am a reality tv junkie. I don't know why, but it's my favorite kind of tv show.
  18. I think you need to re-read my post. Somehow you have turned my post into an Oprah hating discussion. Nothing I have said has been racist. I watch Oprah when I'm interested in the topic and I think she does a lot of good. My post stated that I don't care who she endorses. Just so you know, I like the Oprah Show a whole lot more than the Martha Stewart Show. The color of their skin has nothing to do with it. Anyone can be strong and professional, no matter what color - IMO, you are the only one that is making it an issue.
  19. It is amazing how much a low-carb diet can help with weight loss. The one time (before being banded) I lost weight was on the Atkins diet. I lost about 50lbs on it, but once I came off the diet, I gained it all back plus some. I think the band is going to help me keep off the weight permanently.
  20. Hey smsmithart! I hope you are able to have the surgery soon. Waiting isn't fun........but hopefully time will go by fast. Good luck to you!
  21. Hey glowdawn! Were you ever diagnosed with PCOS? If not, I think if I were you, I would have another test taken, just because you were having some symptoms when you were thin. Better to know for sure. Good luck to you.
  22. I grew up not very far from you. I lived in Norman Park for 19 years, then moved to Moultrie once I got married. It would be wonderful if Dr. B's office could get a support group started. Nice to meet you and good luck.
  23. I don't deny that Oprah is a strong, professional woman at all, or that she probably makes more money than all of us put together. And I certainly don't think anyone here has said they hate Oprah. Personally, I don't care who she endorses, it won't sway my opinions at all. I understand where both sides of this agrument is coming from. On one hand, I don't care who Oprah endorses because I am perfectly capable of making an educated decision without her stamp of approval. On the other hand, there are many people who will not research for themselves and vote for Obama just because she endorses him, but that really isn't her fault that her followers do not think for themselves. I certainly have not been offended by anything Oprah has said. I agree with Transformers post, her chameleon-like skills are for ratings, but it still irritates me.
  24. Welcome riotgrrl! I think you should go for it. I won't lie, it hard work, but think of the end results. It will help you be a much healthier person. Good luck to you on your lap band journey!
  25. So, just because I don't agree with every word you said, I am not decent or intelligent. If you read my post again, you'll see that nothing in my post stated anything about talking a color. I could be wrong, but I honestly don't think that Tits original post was meant to be a racist remark. I was simply commenting on her accent, period. BTW, listening to Paula Deen quote 50 cent lyrics would annoy me too.
