Did anyone have issues with Turkey Neck and the skin being unable to tighten?
Is there anything recommended to prevent or treat that? I hate that look!

Gr8fulMiniMe got a reaction from joego2014 in Kaiser So. California
I had the lapband in 4/2009 outside of Kaiser. Fast forward to 4/2013, I was very uncomfortable with the band and was now with Kaiser. I attended the options classes and really loved Dr Nanda who was over them. In fact, Being almost 3 weeks post op I made an apt to see him. I felt he really cared about helping me find a plan for me and those classes really benefit me. At any rate, I had my band removed at the Harbor City/LA with Dr Gary Belzberg last year. A few Years prior my step mom had her bypass surgery there with a different MD and encountered Dr Belzberg during an ER visit and did not like the lack of compassion in her own Dr. I remember her telling me I was so lucky I was given him to perform my surgery. I had the gastic sleeve on 6/5/14 and am quite pleased so far! I seriously recommend going to the bariatric support classes Kaiser offers. They are so helpful to me. Good luck to you!!!

Hey...you're almost 40 pounds down in 2 1/2 months...averaging 15 pounds a month! That is incredible! Most of us could have never done that consistently pre-bariatric surgery. You keep doing what you're doing. Eat right: the surgery gives us Portion Control, you have to do the quality control; if you haven't upped your calories with all that exercise, you need to do that ASAP and get your body out of starvation mode; get your Water and Protein in and don't forget the GOOD carbs your body needs for fuel (especially since you're exercising consistently!). You're doing great. Don't worry about anyone else's progress, but your own. This is YOUR journey. Keep it up girl, because you're doing awesome.

Well the first question we always ask is are you on a PPI? The biggest culprit for causing that "I'm hungry" feeling is acid and for many of us, once we're on a PPI we're fine. If you're on one, talk to your doc and adjust your dose. You might need more or it might not be an acid problem at all.
If you Water is cold, try drinking it at room temp. I had trouble with Water for a long while. I had to add something to get it down or it made me feel nauseous. Try Real Lemon or Real Lime packets, room temp water and even a packet or two a day of Crystal Light. If you can get those down, you're fine.
Are your meals made of dense Protein? Eat things that make you feel full - Protein and Fiber together pack a wallop and should leave you feeling satisfied for a few hours. Evaluate what you're eating - if you're eating yogurt and feeling hungry later, well, that's probably because yogurt slides right through. Try eating dense protein first, then moving onto fibrous veggies and finally onto a few bites of your soft carbohydrate like mashed potatoes.
Try to set an eating schedule and limit yourself to set snack times. If you must graze, try to track your calories and log all of your food so that this doesn't become an ongoing issue. I tend to "forget" to log food I graze on, and then I fall off track and stop losing. This is a bad habit and will impede your success.
And, I suppose it could possibly be bad news. If you try everything here and still feel hungry after two weeks you might be one of the very few who never lose the actual, physical hunger. This is bad because the lack of hunger makes the surgery easier. However, it doesn't mean you can't succeed. You still had 85% of your stomach removed and will still have a great deal of restriction. If you force yourself to follow good eating habits you can still lose your weight.
My opinion is that the hunger feelings will fade. They are almost always tied to acid or diet.
    Good luck!

Those Cookies are the devils work and so good. I love the 100 calorie chops ahoy. I found them at the 99 cent store this week and as I was loading my cart up I remembered something. There was a time when I could eat the whole box. So my little 100 calorie snack was actually 600 calories. I put them all (5 boxes) back. You learned something very important from all of this. You can't control yourself with them. Think about that the next time you want to buy them. We got this!!

Step away! Step away! Once you get started, it's sooo hard to stop. The carbs will take over your mind. Hunger will ensue and you'll graze for everything you shouldn't have. [i got stuck for 2 months!! Lost precious time.]
Do you still have some Cookies? Open bag. Pour bleach over the Cookies, and put them in the trash. Do it now--"Stat!" :-)

Get rid of the package if there are any left. Those go down way to easily for you it sounds like. Just move forward and try not to do it again. If you need something sweet try some fruit or maybe yogurt. Heck even a piece of hard candy would be better. Only one though. =)

One minute at a time girl. What is done is done and now you have to move on. Remember why you are doing this. Make your next food choice healthy and before you try Cookies again drink some Water first.

I would go ahead and schedule that endoscopy. It seems like you've tried other nausea remedies, and they're obviously not working. Once they get a better look at what's going on on in the inside, they'll have a better idea how to fix your problem. 200 calories a day is definitely not enough to sustain you.

I start full liquids tomorrow. Can't wait. I've been living off of sugar free Popsicles and Gatorade. I've already made myself a homemade low fat low carb crab bisque to take to work with me tomorrow.

But on the other hand, you are right in the middle of your normal BMI, so maybe your goal weight was just too high. If you are eating healthy, getting adequate calories, feeling good, and your bloodwork numbers are good, maybe your body just hasn't hit its new natural "normal" yet.

I am a 32 year old female. I have five children, ages range from 3 to 13 years of age. My weight has fip flop over the years. As a child i was small and tiny my weight in high school was between 120 lbs to 130 lbs. After my first child at 19 year of age I was 160 lbs.. I had no problems losing after my second child, I got back to 140, but my third child i really pick the weight up after giving birth i was 191 lbs at 5'5 i just looked thick, but i had a hard time losing i never got back down to 160 again after that. My weight with my fourth kid was 232 lbs, by my fifth child i was 267 lbs. After, my fifth child my weight was 300lbs. I knew I had to do something about it, I tried many different weight loss plans, nothing worked on may 21,2013. I went in the op room weighing 300.00 lbs. I was a candidate for VSG. As of july 2, 2014 I weigh 134.6lbs. I have pass my goal weight of 160 lbs. I cant seem to stop!!! I am worried!!!

Sleeved June 9 and no regrets whatsoever!! Having a little difficulty with slowly sipping. Such a habit to gulp down as much Water as possible that now sipping a Protein Drink or liquids is something I have to think about. Just started a little bit of pureed foods. Its so fantastic to not be hungry all the time! Is anyone exercising very much yet?

I think you should have/eat what you want in moderation. If you want cake, have a bite or 2, but don't go hog wild because that defeats the purpose of the surgery. Maybe have a cakepop (75 cents at Starbucks) instead of a slice. Quality of life matters. We all might have financial goals but that doesn't mean we want to work only to pay bills & have no fun whatsoever for any reason. There is one diet guru that advocates having a "cheat" day. I would call it a "treat" day. You won't blow up if you treat yourself once or twice a month. Conversely, you'll also have to be content to lose weight more slowly. Eating cake does not help the cause of weight loss. If you are suffering you need to change something. You need to feel like you are having a full, abundant life & not a miserable, deprived existence. Good luck to you. Keep looking for the balance and you will find it.

Yep - I'm a November sleever, too...feel the same way. I chalked it up to fatigue. Some days I don't want to be a weight loss surgery patient any more. I don't want to have to eat Protein all day long. The other days I wanted a drink of Coke!
Look at how far you've come in the past 7 months! It's amazing.
I hear you, my sista! We're going to get thru this, though. I want to lose faster. I have about 25-30 pounds more and I'm losing so slow that I think I'll be an old lady when I finally lose it all! LOL.
Tomorrow is another day, however. We'll get up in the morning and go to battle again. Hang in there - we'll get thru this!
