  1. Yep, dried ones. It could be the combo of my cooking, plus lentils that makes them bow out. I don't think they've ever had them.
  2. RSG - I love your new avatar! Yes, I bought a pilates video w/mat several years ago and I spilled over quite a bit in the width dept...and had plenty to spare in the length.
  3. Welcome, Joy, to LBT's Rants and Raves section. :cool2:
  4. To the Aussie folks: What's "cobber" mean? and when would you use it? Second Q - How long do lentils stay good? I bought a bag a while back and keep meaning to use them, and never do. Somehow they never seem appealing to the family and they get vetoed every time.

No Y near me, within reason anyway. I think I'll look into one that's near me, Sound Fitness. Last night ran/walked my mile. Almost beat my time. I was determined not to do anything last night. I was tired, grumpy, didn't wanna!!! But, I got dressed, and did it. I was only going to go 10 minutes - break a sweat and stop....then I kept going. Then, after my mile on the treadmill, I went for a cool down walk outside. Oh, yeah, and I did laps in my mother's pool before that. We went to her place for dinner and while it was cooking I swam and did Water aerobicsy-type stuff.
  6. I agree! DH and I have discussed at length the waste of time it is. 2 hours is not needed, since they spend 1/2 the time recapping. We have the TiVo like function, DVR, through our cable company and I love it. I like the pause function when watching live tv and someone calls or comes over...or if we leave the house and something good is on, I'll hit record. I recorded 16 candles last week and haven't been able to watch it yet. I'm not all that into tv, even though that's all I talk about.
  7. Oh...I love the smell of BBQ. Why are we always talking about food in the early morning hours?
  8. I was mad, too, at that. They were at the Grand Canyon!!! Even at my fattest, and with no desire to lose weight, I'd have hiked. I love nature, and love being outdoors. Even my 11 year old daughter, who grew up camping with us, was mad. She was said, "They didn't have to put the tents up, they got to sleep on cots, they had lanterns!!! They had it made, and they're complaining!!!" I would have been syked to have been there. I do think that this season has a more lazy group than previous seasons. Or maybe it's just too early to tell? I dunno...
  9. LOL! I've wondered that. I wondered that, too, about the dad. He lost a lot of weight on his own - how? After he left, I told DH that he's a good candidate for WLS. (Maybe not age...?) But, he looks great! and I love the daughter, too. I love how she looked at him at her b-day and said, "I know what you're thinking..you don't have to say it." I love that! Okay, I'm a sap...I'm tearing up thinking about it. eGads, I'm an emotional wuss.
  10. Yeah...we really don't have the room for another big dog. I am such a sucker, though. I know SPCA will put the Pitt down, and that makes me sad. Although, he's not friendly so I'm not sure what they could do with him. I think the lab keeps him from attacking people.
  11. Well, it just seemed obvious that the dad was going home. When the scales came and the daughter had lost 10 and he had gained 2, my first thought was that they rigged the scales specifically so he'd go home. (Which, I'm glad he left since his health was a hardship.) But, I just wonder how much is sensationalism. Last year, with Ali, the online sites were bombarded with bloggers saying how unfair it was that a woman hadn't won. And, then, a woman won. Granted, Ali kicked butt and deserved it, but did she really lose more % than the guys? It just makes me wonder, especially after the other night's weigh in. Oh, and the brown team were almost going and they were smiling and laughing when the yellow team didn't win. That annoyed me very much. They have no tact.
  12. :cool2: No, no pics. She's lean, though, very underfed. The last time we did yard work, I put a bowl of food and water out. She had some, but then, the pitt bull that runs with her (the male) came and ate it all. So, I doubt she gets a lot to eat. I've seen them going through trash in the mornings. I've debated about calling the SPCA, but I know right now they're swamped with calls about abandoned animals from Ike.
  13. Ahh! I love it when we all get along! Feels like home-away-from-home. :cool2::thumbup::thumbup::laugh: Good luck, Sue, with your banding/learning.
  14. A stray dog came and jumped on me this morning as I was walking to my car....Not maliciously, she's actually overly friendly. I want to keep her, but DH put his foot down. She's a cute little yellow lab. And, I have her paw print right in the middle of my belly to remember her by. Anyone want a cutie-pie yellow lab?
  15. I think Paul the Pincher would have me running away and screaming.
  16. aha http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f22/biggest-loser-show-76211/
  17. Aha! Found it! Okay...so did anyone see last night's show??? I was so disgusted at how the producers "forced" the yellow team home. I think they rigged it so he'd gain and they knew he'd go home. I think he should have gone home and I don't think he should have been there, but it drives me nuts. As soon as Alison said that no one would vote, I KNEW. And, I think the scales are fixed. I hate it, because now it makes me doubt Ali's win last season and I LOVED ALI. What's anyone else's take on that?
  18. Or not! LOL...You've blocked PMs. I'll post in the biggest loser thread...I know it's here SOMEWHERE.
  19. I'll PM you...I don't want to ruin it, but I'd like feed back. DH was just rolling his eyes at my dismay over last night.

Thanks! I'm not sure about a Y...I'll have to check. I would love a personal trainer! I want someone in my face yelling. Huh...growing up, I called that MOM.

Okay all...I'm debating about a gym membership and need advice. I'm broke, for one, and can't pay a lot. Second, I'm lazy and am scared I'll get a membership and not go. I've done that before, about 10 years ago. But, the treadmill at home is old and we really need a new one. But, those are 'spensive, too! I think I'd get more out of a gym - if I went. I definitely want to step up the exercise, but there's a time, convenience and money factor. Any suggestions?
  22. Exactly! The clap thing bothered me, too. And last night they were laughing at a very bad time. They're rude -seeming, I know it is tv and maybe things are exaggerated. Who knows why, but they just bug me. I like Heba and husband (orange, I think), and the red team. Heba started at the same weight as I was when I was banded, and I'm anxious to see how she looks as she slims down.
  23. Like Twister, only not alcohol induced.

It is NOT October. I refuse to play into this. It's still June, isn't it? ISN'T IT???? *puts on bathing suit, flip flops, sunhat and laughs hysterically* I'm running for five minutes at a stretch now. Granted, I'm gasping and wheezing by the end of it, but I never thought I'd get to even this point. During the hurricane my friend who was without power for 2 weeks after, stayed w/me and I got on the treadmill. I think she was expecting a leisurely walk and I busted out in a run. I'll never forget the look on her face - she said, "You're running!" Uhm, yeah. I am. (For five minutes at a time with a one minute walk session in the middle.)
  25. I'll keep my mouth shut since you haven't seen it yet. But I will say that now I'm not so convinced about Ali's win last year. Which makes me sad. I'll also say that I hate the brown team. Okay, that's it until tomorrow! I promise.
