Why Does It Not Work
Congrats on getting banded! For me it's been life changing and I love my band. #10 - Make sure your doctor is a good surgeon AND has a good bedside manner. Ask yourself if you're comfy calling him/his nurse once a month or more. I am on a first name basis w/my nurse because I need a lot of hand holding. Will you be embarassed if you gain and need a fill? A lot of people gain because they need a fill but don't want to go to the doctor. GO. Be friends...be pals. The relationship w/the doctor doesn't stop right after surgery. A lot of people get banded far away and don't get that chance to be friendly w/the surgical staff. If that's the case, then find a good fill center close to you, or make plans to get to one often enough to keep up with fills (if you need them.) #9 - Read everything the doctor gives you. Listen to what he says, and ask any questions you may have, even if they sound dumb to you. If you've followed number 10, it won't matter. :crying: #8 - Don’t eat pizza after surgery. Realize that the steps you take right after surgery are to help you heal from surgery. Even though you will be hungry and you will be able to eat a lot. Drink the fluids, and follow your doc’s/nutritionist’s pre-op instructions to the letter. #7 – Don’t be too loose that you can eat a lot. #6 – Don’t be too tight that you’re sliming up your own spit. #5 - If you’re throwing up, you’re eating too much. #4 - Eat your protein first, and stop when you’re full, even if you haven’t finished that 4th ounce. #3 – Once you get “comfy” with the band, DON’T EAT SLIDER FOODS. That’s been my mistake and I’ve been bouncing for 3 months. (Slider foods are the soft things like ice cream and cookies. They will go down easy. You still have to eat healthy.) #2 – Eat less (with the help of the band) and exercise more. #1 –Make sure you are mentally prepared to eat like a normal person. Food is not for comfort – it is for sustenance. J It really is that simple, but it’s taken me forever to get to #1…and I keep shying away from it, then coming back to it! It will happen, and you’ll get there. Good luck! J Oh, and the mostest #1 rule is stick with lapbandtalk.com – It’s been a saving grace for me, since I’m the only one in my circle who’s been banded.

Questions on exercise:
I'm jealous! I want someone to bark at me. :crying:

Questions on exercise:
I do tend to lace tightly. I'm running tonight, so I'll try loosening up a bit. Also, I think I need to land right. I read in the other thread that you're having toe nail issues...is that right? I tend to run like I'm on an elliptical glider, partly because I'm scared of my treadmill. :crying:

September exercise challenge?
I'd be up for a challenge. I'm doing the c25k August version. It's my first real exercise that I've done. I realize I need to move my butt to be healthy, and I'm finding I really enjoy it. Lacking motivation, though, has always been my obstacle. So, having the accountability here on LBT has helped a lot.

Good Lentil recipes?
Thanks for that! I bought lentils, thinking I'd do something with them, but never did. This is an easy recipe that I can follow.

That made me giggle. Okay, I'm 12.

Toilet Paper and Restrooms
I like Charmin...the blue package, though I'm not sure what the difference is between the blue one and red. I just noticed at home that DH bought the last package and it's the 1/2 way cheap 1/2 way soft kind. It's doable, but nothing like my Charmin. And I got 12 more rolls to go through before I can get the good stuff.

I love that show, too! I can't wait to see how they shake things up this time. I love all their challenges. I'd love to be on that show! Think they will ever do one for wls patients???

Ditto here! (It's not rare here, though...Staples is blocked. Go figure.) Your organization's Internet use policy restricts access to this web page at this time. Reason: The Websense category "Adult Content" is filtered. URL: GoTopless

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!
That reminds me of this. (I'm Fluffy FrickenButt) ****** Here is a little dose of humor... Follow the instructions to find your new name. The following is excerpted from a children's book, Captain Underpants And the Perilous Plot Professor Poopypants, by Dave Pilkey, in which the evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names... So:- 1. Use the third letter of your first name to determine your New first name: a = snickle b = doombah c = goober d = cheesey e = crusty f = greasy g = dumbo h = farcus i = dorky j = doofus k = funky l = boobie m = sleezy n = sloopy o = fluffy p = stinky q = slimy r = dorfus s = snooty t = tootsie u = dipsy v = sneezy w = liver x = skippy y = dinky z = zippy 2. Use the second letter of your last name to determine the first half of your new last name: a = dippin b = feather c = batty d = burger e = chicken f = barffy g = lizard h = waffle i = farkle j = monkey k = flippin l = fricken m = bubble n = rhino o = potty p = hamster q = buckle r = gizzard s = lickin t = snickle u = chuckle v = pickle w = hubble x = dingle y = gorilla z = girdle 3. Use the third letter of your last name to determine the second half of your new last name: a = butt b = boob c = face d = nose e = hump f = breath g = pants h = shorts i = lips j = honker k = head l = tush m = chunks n = dunkin o = brains p = biscuits q = toes r = doodle s = fanny t = sniffer u = sprinkles v = frack w = squirt x = humperdinck y = hiney z = juice

Questions on exercise:
Running socks??? Oi! I'm outta my league here. Actually, I have good shoes, but didn't know it. I had bought them on sale, during tax-free weekend because they're cute and it's a good deal. Well, when I was looking more closely at them, turns out they're specially designed for running, with cushy parts and everything. But, socks...okay. Is there a different way to gait? Or is it just what it is and you overcome? Is it a serious thing if not taken care of? Sorry, I know I'm being kinda wussy about this, but I just want to make sure I'm not going to hurt myself later on.

Questions on exercise:
I posted these in the Aug c25k thread, but didn't find any takers. I'm hoping some regular exercise experts can help. I get a tingly sensation in my right foot, in the toes. This happens after about 10 - 15 minutes of walking/running. Does anyone else feel this when they exercise? If so...what is it? Does anyone use a treadmill? If so...what can I do to fix mine - it "skips" every now and then. If I weren't holding on to the handles, I'd go flying off. It's almost like it slides forward, and then heads back. Am I too fat for it? (It had a 250 wgt limit, I'm at 230 now...It's electric, not manual. It was used and is about 5-7 years old.) Does it need greasing?

Couch to 5K for August...who's in?
I decided to move on to week #2. It was easy the first 10 minutes (easy being, I didn't feel like dying) but then afterwards I had to push myself. But, I pushed and I felt great! I really love this accountability.

Toilet Paper and Restrooms
Hey...Do you work where I work? I've actually brought in my own, or carried baby-wipes. I think I got a papercut once from it. Ouch.

Good for you! Don't be scared...you'll be fine. *** Ack...re-reading that made me grumpy. I hate it when people tell me "don't worry" or "don't be scared". Oh? Is it that easy? I didn't realize! Soooo....not sure what to say. I am sure you'll be "fine" though, since "fine" is relatively easy to achieve. Did that help? :tt2:

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
Hm... Maybe I shouldn't have stopped taking my meds.

Couch to 5K for August...who's in?
Okay...I've got some questions!!! #1 - This is my week #3 on the program, but I'm thinking of repeating week #1 for the 3rd time. I'm just not sure I'm ready to move on. Is anyone else feeling this, or am I being a wuss? #2 - Is anyone else feeling a numbness in their toes? I get a tingly sensation in my right foot, in the toes. This happens after about 10 - 15 minutes of walking/running. #3 - Is anyone else using a treadmill? If so...what can I do to fix mine - it "skips" every now and then. If I weren't holding on to the handles, I'd go flying off. It's almost like it slides forward, and then heads back. Am I too fat for it? (It had a 250 wgt limit, I'm at 230 now...It's electric, not manual. It was used and is about 5-7 years old.) #4 - Even though I am repeating the 1st week - again - I LOVE IT. How is everyone doing? Are you loving it...hating it? Have you revised the program at all? Thanks all! :tt2:

Okay...thanks a lot ladies! I normally sleep like a log - can sleep anywhere, anytime...but last night, not so much. I tossed and turned and the night went by soooo sllllowly. I ended up getting up and doing laundry. This am, I'm groggy and dragging. The floor looks mighty comfy, though.
