Count each lost hair as a victory along your journey. If you feel you need a wig, get one for now. Forget the rogaine. Your hair WILL grow back! It's a reaction to anesthesia and rapid weight loss and it just is what it is. If you're getting your Protein or not, it's going to happen. You will be beautiful with a new hairstyle for now!!

You can expect to have minimal to painful pain (all hopefully stabilized by meds) you will have gas pain. Just walk as much as you can. Day by day I promise you will feel better! If you feel like throwing up and the meds to reduce that are not working, perhaps your pain meds are making you feel sick. That's what happened to me. I'm here if you have more questions. I am a sleeve To bypass patients, so I've had them both! Good luck!
Oh, two weeks post op, down 13lbs

GENEPRO http://www.musclegen.net/ .... this is oderless and tasteless and does not clump. You can add it to hot or cold....or just sprinkle over your food. This stuff is great. One tablespoon equals a scoop of whey and has 30 grams of Protein. It is approved by John Hopkins and has 96% absorbtion. You can also order it from Amazon. I go by every morning to a shake shop....get a Chunky Monkey (35 grams of protein).....add a scoop of GENEPRO (30 grams of protein)....mid morning I fix a Crystal Light and add another scoop.....I already have 95 grams for the day!!! I too never had a problem with Protein shakes before the surgery.....I got where I could not choke one down and was averaging (if I was lucky) 30 grams of protein a day before I heard of Genepro. I tried Isopure and first thought they were great.....then I started adding Crystal light to them where I could drink them but they left such an after taste. I tried everything.....contact the website and they will send you a sample.

Everyone is different. I lost 25 pounds by my 6 week check and was stalled for about 2 weeks straight. I am now a little over 3 months out and have gone from 283 pre-op ans am down to 210 today. At first it can seem like its not working and not worth it but you just gotta keep with the diet and exercise as best as you can.

Mine stayed like that for quite a while. As the weight comes off things are leveling out. I can feel the tightness of the muscles seemingly from the incisions.

Hi everyone!!! I had RNY on July 29th. I think of everyday as a learning experience. Learning what my new stomach will tolerate. Overall things are going really well. I had myself so worked up before surgery, I cried every morning for a week beforehand. This was my first ever surgery at 33. And honestly the pain was nothing compared to what I had imagined up in my head. As soon as I was allowed I was up and walking. The gas pain was worse than the incision pain. I am so excited to start this new chapter of my life. My highest weight was 389 and my surgery weight was 361 my current weight is 337. I can't believe I've lost over 50 lbs already! I'm so ready to share my new story with everyone. :-D

I had surgery July 9th. I had a rough start. I had a reaction to the morphine which caused me to stay in the hospital for 4 days instead of 2. I also developed am infection in one of my incisions.
Everything is cleared up and I feel great. I am down 40 pounds. I am back to work full time. I walk 2 miles on my breaks during work and walk some more when I get home.

    Just an update!
I had RNY 7/31 so I am just at 3 weeks post op. Everything has been going awesome! I just had a minor set back this past week. On Monday I ended up going to the ER and found out I had kidney stones. I am still trying to pass them as of today. I have a urologist appt today so hopefully I will find out more answers. These kidney stones were so painful. I have never experienced anything like that in my life. The surgery itself doesn't even compare to the pain when these stones start to move. I am using this experience as a reminder of what an unhealthy lifestyle I had before and how I never want to return to that.
Outside of the stone thing everything is going great. I hope to recover from this soon so I can put more of my focus back in other areas

My surgery was July 1 and I'm down 29#. The first three weeks were tough as I had such little energy and stamina, I could barely stand up for five minutes! I'm feeling great now and am even taking care of a friend's farm this week. Talk about a boost in energy.
This past weekend I saw my profile in a shop window and for the first time I saw myself looking smaller. It was a good feeling and I can't wait to lose another 29#!

I had RNY July 21st. I chose it after going to the seminar and hearing what the doctor said. I had GERD terribly and the sleeve would make it worse. Also I agree with the above, dumping, etc ... the Bypass would keep me more on track. Research EVERYTHING you can on both...and GOOD LUCK!

Everyone's body is different. Some starting losing very slow and then pick up and some lose quite a lot at first and then slow down. Just listen to your body and everything will be okay. Make sure you're getting your protein, Water, and Vitamins in everyday. What made a difference with me is waking. At 2 weeks i walked on the treadmill for 15 mins then kept going up till i could speed walk for 30 mins. Try doing that.
I used to weigh myself every week, but when my body slowed down, i started weighing every two weeks.. You really will be surprised. Remember, you did this in order to be healthy and for many different reasons! So stick to it! YOU CAN DO IT

Hi I agree with the above statements as long as your getting in your Protein, drinking Water and exercising the weight will come off, your body needs the Protein to heal and the Water to ensure that you do not get dehydrated. Just remember to listen to your doctors and the weight will began to come off, please remember that you did not gain the weight overnight and it will not come off over night, stay focus and remember to exercise. And also remember that just because the scale is not moving does not mean that you are not loosing weight. Congrats on your choice to be healthy and welcome to the losers bench.

    Hi and welcome.
I can't emphasize enough that your Protein is the number one priority for you to have.
Without Protein you will not heal correctly and your hair down the line with start to fall out more because of the lack of protein.
The second most important thing is drinking all the Water so you don't get dehydrated and have to go to the hospital for IV fluids or a hospital stay.
The third thing is getting in your Vitamins and supplements every day.
If you can't do this I suggest you talk to your surgeon and nutritionist because you'll have problems.
unjury makes a chicken Soup that has 20g of protein per serving or buy unflavored Protein powder and add it to drinks or sugar free pudding or make shakes with it using PB2 which is Peanut Butter powder or chocolate Peanut Butter powder. You could add sugar free Torani syrups to the shakes.< /strong>
Another thing stay off the scale it's very self defeating and bad for your mind. If you must go on it then do it once a week at the same time of day and wearing the same thing.
I personally don't own a scale and only get weighed when I have a doctors appointment.
So take this information and do what you want with it, it's all up to you.
I know that if you stick with it you will loose weight and feel healthier.
    Good luck.

A loss is a loss. I know that the biggest adjustment is making sure to get enough to eat. It is a struggle at times because I am experiencing some aversion to food--especially meat Protein.

8 pounds is awesome!!! A loss is a loss. Depending on your bmi it can also be slower.. I'm losing about 1-3 a week I'm a low bmi but honestly as long as your drinking Water eating good Protein staying away from fatty foods and carbs you will keep losing. Don't sweat it!!!

I agree about the PB2. It is great! I order mine from Amazon. On Amazon it comes in a two pack one is regular Peanut Butter and the other is chocolate peanut butter. Both are very healthy alternatives to regular peanut butter. You should give it a try. I was skeptical at first so I ordered the two 6oz jars for 10 bucks on Amazon just in case they didn't have the taste of real peanut butter. It tastes just like it's normal counterpart. I put in my Protein Shakes and mix with a little Water to reconstitute it. Can't recommend it enough.

At 2 1/1 weeks post op I don't think that crackers should be something you should be eating. I understand the craving but please don't sabotage your new tool by divulging in your old habits, you will not only self sabotage yourself but this early on you could possibly hurt your new pouch! please try and stick to the foods your surgeon and nutritionist have you eating at this stage. It's not only for weight loss but also for your new pouch to heal. If you are craving Peanut Butter try PB2 sometimes you can find it at Wal-Mart but you can definitely find it at GNC. It has 85% less fat and calories than regular peanut butter and you mix it with Water. Try to find healthier alternatives for things that you crave, but also remember that a lot of times when you think your hungry it's really just thirst

If your tummy didn't mind them, it's not a bad thing but................5 seems like a lot at 2 1/2 weeks. I couldn't eat more then 1/2 cup of anything at that stage. Also, a little further out your going to want to watch your calorie intake and both Peanut Butter and crackers are heavy in calorie count. Peanut Butter is a great Protein, crackers are loaded with carbs and that's something I try to stay away from. Just my opinion............... Good luck
