What does your doctor say? Mine says one year, which I followed.

I started to drink 4 months post op i never consulted my doc,...the lil cans of margaritas? I get quickly drunk with one of those,..I drink a glass of wine every weekend it gets me tipsy but I'm fine it does not upset my stomach at all

But check with your doc everyone has their restrictions,..

My NUT was kind of judgey and acted like you were an alcoholic if you ever wanted to drink again.

I waited 3 months. I'm 6 months out now and I'll have a couple of drinks a month. Usually wine or sometimes beer that I let fizz out for a bit. I do get drunk super fast and also sober up super fast. I never get sick and I don't get a headache or anything. You're basically going to have to learn to drink again. I just pace myself.

I just quit drinking completely

  • 3 weeks later...

I waited almost 6 months.

At that point I had heard from many others that we'd all be lightweights.

Unfortunately that just isn't true for me and I can easily drink just as much as I could pre-surgery.

I do try to keep it to special occasions now, as I know all of those empty calories is only going against me trying to achieve my goal, but being a single guy in my mid-30s, going the bars is just going to be a necessity sometimes.

I had some wine when my husband and I went out for our anniversary earlier this month, so I guess I was just under 8 weeks out. I didn't find that it affected me any differently than before, but I haven't had anything to drink since then.

Indulge, but remember alcohol is sugar so take it slow
