Where are you going to do your 5K? I think I want to do one. I am doing 4.5 miles in an hour now on the elliptical and I really want to do a marathon. But am not sure how to get into doing one.

starting BMI over 50? come on in!
I started at 376 I was VERY against gastric bypass. Just because it is so drastic and non reversable. That is me. I wanted a more gradual loss. I am active. always have been. So when my doctor found out I was very against the gastric bypass she sugested the band and we talked about it for a while. And then I started my reserch. I am thrilled with the band. For me it is like I am in control of what I eat. I can have ANYTHING just not in the quantities I was used to eatting. So I dont feel deprived if I want chocolate I can have it. It is still my choice. So I have a piece then go work out a bit. I feel like I have just gotted smarter about what I eat. and the band helps me not eat as much as I sometimes mentaly want to eat.

Anyone not feel restriction yet?
I think I am the only idiot who after a pb will try to eat again. I do go a lot slower. But I know that nothing went in. So I need to get something in. But mine dont hurt. icky but not painful

5 Month Progress poll
Wow Steph your doing awsome. I am haviing issues with pasta. And sometimes I forget to chew completly. I think I get too hungry and revert back to old habits of shoving food in. when I need to slow down and chew. But thanks to the band I do get a quick reminder.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
Thanks everyone for the support. It is nice to know that I am not the only one that takes things people say wrong. My mom always tried to tell me not to be so sensitive. but it is something I just cant control. So I usualy dont complain out loud it is nice that I can come here and let it out without being judged...too much. lol

Noticeable difference
Yea! Aubrie that is great! it is just so odd for my mind to be NOT thinking about how BAD I am going to feel if I do something like that. NOW I dont think about it as much. I think about the fun I am having and not about IF I am going to be able to keep up. It is such an amazing feeling. I never really thought I would experience it.

Thanks guys! it really means a lot to hear that. And 8.5 is not bad We all start somewhere. I didnt start off doing the Elliptical for 60 minutes. ButI worked up to it. And now I am so glad I stuck with it. But I do still play the mind games with myself. When I dont really want to go to the gym I will tell myself I will JUST do 2 miles. Then when I hit the 2 mile mark I am kinda like Oh I will do one more I will just go slower. Then I hit 3 and tell myself well I did 3 I can do the last mile slow. But then I look at the time and am like If I kick it up I will still be done in 60 minutes. LOL it works for my brain. I am really wanting to do a marathon like losingjustme did. I was so impressed with her for doing the Minnie Marathon I want to do one now too.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
No one is saying ALL skinny people say these things. Heck some of the people that say the things are not what I would call skinny. Just smaller then me and think they are better. And I didnt say you couldnt vent. Vent away. Heck if it makes you feel better you can cuss at me. I dont know you and you dont know me. So any more your not going to hurt my feelings I can blow most things off. and I can name a lot of things that fat people have said that piss me off. I didnt title this thread. I am just adding my 2 cents to the conversation. So vent away if it makes you feel better.

Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
I believe what we are saying here is that we wish people could be a little more polite when commenting on our weight...or not comment at all. No offence to you but this is where we are comming to vent to eachother about other people. because most of us get hurt by what has been said. Maybe not you. But the rest of us commenting on here just want support and understanding for the reactions we hear from others.

I dont have any problems with my abb strength. I dont think they CUT your abdominal muscles. They attach your port to you stomach muscles but they dont cut them. They cut thru the fat to get to them. I havent had any problems. I have lost 11 inches in my abdominal area in 5 months.

27 inches
Holy Crap! I just got remeasured. I have lost 27 inches in 5 months! WOW 11 inches in my abdomen and 5 inches in my Thighs! that is 5 inches each....I only counted it once though. lol But wow that is more then 2 feet. I am stuned!:biggrin2:

starting BMI over 50? come on in!
My doctor said about the same thing. If you are still active you should opt for the band. Gastric patients do lose quick but the 3 year study we meet up with the gastric patients and then we surpass them because on an average band patients keep the weight off longer. We have to learn to eat properly. Where gastric patients dont. That was my biggest selling point. I want this weight gone forever. So I will do mine slowly and have it stay off. VS removing it quickly and have it come back.

Thanks, I havent lost that much weight. But My fitness level is thru the roof. So I have gained muscle. And that is better because if I keep the muscle their then I cant help but to lose weight. lol

Stomach Sleepers - Does your band ever hurt?
The first night I didnt sleep on my stomach...but I think from the surgery drugs I didnt move at all. Fell into bed and bam I was out on my back. the second night I didnt take any pain meds and slept on my side. woke up on my stomach...little achy/painful to get up. but not too bad. Ever since then I sleep on my stomach. Your friend is ill informed about the band. It is a good thing we have this site where we can clear the air about some things. lol Good luck and dont worry about sleeping heck 3 days out my cat decided he wanted to cuddle...on my stomach. I just watched where his paws were and we were fine. It really is not that big of a deal. Yes it is surgery. But for most it is out patient.
