New Lease On Life reacted to Cmtz615 in Sooo hungry ( liquid diet sucks)
You need to be strong. And stop feeling sorry for yourself. I just had my surgery on the 6th as well. It is hard to see everybody else stuff their face with goodies and chips but if you're consuming all of those foods not even 1 week post op then you're setting yourself up for failure. Look into a support group like weight watchers. You weren't ready to give up your relationship with food if your thinking that way. Get up and walk those thoughts away. But even sucking on those foods is like pouring lemon juice on a bad wound. Supply yourself with sugar free Jello diet snapple crystal light sugar free popsicles. I know how you feel because I just had mine done on the 6th too. It's the best gift I could have given myself and I'm not gonna feel sorry for myself for not being able to eat a donut. Look into a live person support group asap. You really need it

Thank you Alex. Because of some of the negative replies that people get I will not pose any questions on this board. I feel bad enough about myself and don't need anyone else to make me feel worse. What I will do is read others posts and give positive feedback. I love this diet and it gas kept me sane throughout this process. As my mum used to say " if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

Thank you Lord for miracles and that is just what happened with you. I know how I felt reading this and I cannot even imagine the nightmare you described. It is not always better to save money on the important things, like your health. I am so glad that you get stronger each day. Praying for you.

I'm with y'all!!! I go on vacation in about 2 weeks...sunny, tropical climate...probably not going to get a chance to do the bathing suit thing (thank goodness...no one wants to see cottage cheese woman!!!) but I did get some sleeveless items (thank you, Goodwill!!!) and capri...there will be parts of my body that haven't seen the sun in decades! LOL ... even tho I'm not at maintenence yet, the amount I have lost versus what I weighed makes me feel SO good about ME ....and that, also has been DECADES!

Went to My bariatric surgeon today, had a very good visit. I told him about my friend saying that my weight lost scared her, because she felt it was to fast. He told me what ever I'm doing to continue because I will be loosing my most weight now and that it will taper off. So I will be doing a lot of brisk walking, light jogging and so forth. Thank you guys for all your support. Oh I'm down 42lbs since I started my weight lost Journey. You guys keep moving...

Don't be discouraged! You are on the right track to Weightloss success! Unfortunately those that haven't had the surgery won't and can't fully understand the process. When people don't understand something, they fear it. Reassure your friend that rapid Weightloss is normal after this kind of surgery. If your friend continues to be negative, then I would reevaluate the frienfship. Best of luck and keep up the good work! Don't ever let anyone make you feel unaccomplished.

Please listen to your surgeon, your weight loss is going to be scary to anyone that's used to seeing you as a larger woman, if you stop walking you may stall your progress, I've read hundreds of stories on the sleeve and in most cases people are initially losing 20-30 pounds per month, you are obviously succeeding, please don't interrupt this, just keep in mind the reason you started this journey in the first place. Be proud of how far you've come and continue towards success. This summer is going to be wonderful for you.

We are sleeve sisters! I, too, had surgery on 10/17.
Congrats on your weight loss! I am looking forward to being back in the 1's.....someday.
I've been stuck at the same weight for almost 3 weeks. Though I know it will pass, it's so frustrating when you're in the middle of it.

Well I just got back from the gym. I caught a cold before Christmas, so I'm just getting my "wind" back and feeling like I can breathe again. Let me tell you - missing a couple of weeks can REALLY make it hard to get back on track. Unfortunately I don't have a very good support group in my corner, so its all on me.
I don't own a scale at home, so I have to rely on weighing in at the doctor's office or at the gym. Anyway - I've made it a habit to weigh in after my work out before I leave the gym. I'm soooooo excited to say that as of today (1/4/14) I am officially under the 200lb mark weighing in at 197lbs! Can I say that again - 197 pounds!
I've been able to see the results in my upper body and my legs, but I still have that "spare tire" that I can't seem to loose. My sister in law (a bypass patient) promises that if I stick with the gym it will eventually melt away. I hope she's right! We're going on a cruise in May and while I know I won't be in a bikini or anything, I'd sure love to feel comfortable in a bathing suit by then.
I was sleeved on October 17, 2013. The day I went in for surgery I weighed 238 lbs. I wore a pair of size 22 jeans to the hospital and came home in a pair of XXL sweat pants. I'm happy to say that I'm comfortably in a size 16 right now. My leggings were beginning to sag in the butt, so I got new ones in a size Large! I bought a pair of 14 jeans yesterday to hang on the back of my bathroom door. Right now I can't even get them zipped, but gimme another month and I'll be there...
I just wanted to share cause I know y'all "get it". Like I said, I don't have a really good support group to encourage me when I miss a couple of days at the gym, and I work out alone. My husband praises me and loves my new look, but I can't get him to walk or work out with me

For the past couple of years as weight has piled on I have not been able to wear most shoes. Most shoes cut into my foot and cause me much pain. I have resulted to wearing soft leather loafers. In fact, I finally found a pair of Michael Kors loafers that I could wear comfortable and bought every color. So, they have been my shoe collection this fall and winter.
Christmas of 2011, my mother bought me a beautiful pair of black leather ankle boots. I could never fit them. They just sat in my closet on the shelf. I threw away most of my other shoes thinking I would never wear "regular" shoes again. Anyway, I tried on the ankle boots this morning and WHAM they fit! My foot fit right in!! In less than 2 weeks, this very significant part of my life has changed! So off I go! Shoe shopping!!!

New Lease On Life reacted to Rubydoobie in What's Your Plan For Thanksgiving Dinner?
I'm fixing a complete Thanksgiving dinner for 16 people that day with all the trimmings. I plan on eating a total of 8 oz. max total - selection from the turkey, stuffing, gravy, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole & a bit of cranberry jelly - yep a taste of all. I am so THANKFUL for the sleeve and being in control of my portions for the first time in my life!
I never would have believed that I would have lost over 80 lbs in 6 months - I have been transformed & renewed. This will be a great day of thanks & celebration with my family!

How about just telling her? Tell her you withheld the info as you wanted it to be in person. It's done, you're doing well, and there's no need to discuss it as there's no going back. Say you are ready to Celebrate and while you will join her for a meal eating a large amount of food is not necessary to truly celebrate. Won't be easy but I think you've already taken the biggest step by getting surgery. Best of luck.

New Lease On Life reacted to Rubydoobie in Gas A Problem For You?
Since having the surgery, I have had an increased problem with gas or flatulence. Has anyone else experienced this or know the cause? Do our new stomachs have difficulty digesting foods now? I'm eating slowly, chewing fully & not swallowing air so I don't think I'm contributing to the problem intentionally.
I realize certain foods are more prone to causing flatulence but subjectively I've noticed more gas regardless of what's eaten. Anyone else?
    Pretty embarrassing.

For those struggling with Protein remember hydration is most important the first couple of weeks. Your body will use your glycogen stores before using any protein. By then you should have an easier time of it. Just get as much as you can thru Protein Drinks. I find the lite muscle milk is the easiest to tolerate and room temp is easier on the new tummy. It will get better!
