Semi-Embarrassing Question For The Ladies... (Sex-Related)
Hmmm the most comfortable position that I have found at my heaviest was to kind of basically straddle over him and shimmy to the position that you are most comfortable and if sitting straight up isnt comfortable, once you are "on" lean down over him and rest yourself on your hands that makes it almost like the missionary position with girl on top (if that makes sense).

Semi-Embarrassing Question For The Ladies... (Sex-Related)
Gosh, I never thought about that and people having issues - how tall are you may I ask? I'm 5'7 and have never had issues being on top even at my presurgery weight of 325lbs. Maybe you just need to experiment a bit to find a position comfortable for you.

My own worst enemy
What's a Carvel? I completely agree with this Phowell, and think that it is a healthy way to view it. I'm not going to deny myself because if I do I'm going to binge and eat WAY too much, so instead I allow myself the occasional treat and that's what it is - a treat not a "bad thing". Welcome!! I'm glad that you found this thread helpful, we are definitely not abnormalities nor in it alone. We all have similar struggles and can be each others best support network! Hang in there, we can do it! *hug* And PB stands for Productive Burp. :w00t: 30 lbs in the first 2 months, that sounds familiar.. hehe. We can all do this, we're going to have our slip ups and whatnot along the way but we just have to get back up and keep going! I had my 3rd fill this past Friday and I think it's actually going to be doing me some good!! And.... I lost 9lbs this past week woooo hooooo :w00t:

My own worst enemy
Hey everyone, sorry I've been absent and unresponsive to this thread - I usually get to do most of my reading and posting at work (it's been slow lately) however for some reason for the past day and a bit Lapbandtalk website wouldn't load up (very frustrating) so now that it is working.... Here goes.. Very, Very well said. I especially like the part about "Food is not your friend and is not your crutch, it is only needed to sustain your body. Make it impersonal". I really had to stop and think when I read that as to how I treat food and I know I need to form a new relationship with it. I hear ya girl, I have been fighting the same 4 lbs for almost a month and it is driving me crazy! I hope my fill tomorrow gives me some much needed restriction. If you find out the answers to those questions pleeease let me know as I so desperately want to know as well. When will I start eating better and not eat corn chips (yah I ate a bunch today *sigh*). I KNOW I SHOULDNT EAT BAD FOODS BUT I STILL DO!! MAKE ME STOP! lol Well done on your progress to your changes so far, that's a definitely good start. I need to start laying out a plan I think as to when I'm going to allow myself to treats, when I'm going to exercise and have a written plan that I look at everyday as this winging it thing is CLEARLY not working for me. Ninja, you make MANY great points in this post. First of all, I agree 34 lbs in 3 months I don't think officially counts as being a "slow loser" and I am not going to label myself that yet. I do not feel it is fair to give a label at all let alone one based on imperfect restriction. And even though I do look at others stats for a "mild comparison" I remind myself that everyone's situation, metabolism, etc is different for all I know they lost 50% of the weight on their ticker in a preop diet. As for the past 3 months - I would say I have had not quite slim to none but close to restriction - while I get a bit of a full feeling and subsequently eat less the thing stopping me from eating any more is.. me - I have not had any feeling of PB or slime or anything of the sort. I am really hoping tomorrow's fill will bring me to that restriction level where I stop eating when full "or else" because sometimes I'm not so good at telling myself :crying: (ie: I ate two pieces of fish and chips for dinner and then had Dairy Queen for dessert last night). *sigh*

My own worst enemy
Thanks for the responses everyone. It gets so frustrating as I know you all know. Today was my weigh day so I jumped on the scale and I'm up 4 lbs. :glare::Dancing_biggrin: My appointment Friday morning is for just a "follow up" and possible fill if needed so I am going to definitely ask for a fill as I know I need to have way more restriction - going at this on my own and telling myself when I need to stop eating is obviously not working for me. I just want this to work so badly and I'm so afraid that it's not going to and it's going to be ALL MY FAULT!! Jlobyxmas - I try not to compare myself to other people tickers (ie: those that say they lost 50 lbs) because I don't know what their preop diet was and they could have lost 20 of those lbs before surgery and then they would be at the same place I am. It is hard not to compare though. Am I a "slow loser"? I don't know - I'm not sure if I have the proper restriction to be able to make that decision. Best of luck to all of us and hugs all around!

Anyone use fake plants/flowers outdoors?
I actually like your thinking - I love the look of outdoor plants, etc but I HAAAATE gardening or plant care or anything of the sort - my mom is a total green thumb and I am a complete "meh" when it comes to plants I could care less - like the looks hate the care. I say give it a shot, worst case you end up giving it a go this summer and end up going back to real ones next year and you're no farther behind.

My own worst enemy
Heidi, As much as it is nice to know that I am not alone, I'm sorry to hear you are having the same struggle too. It is definitely hella-frustrating. There are 3 things I KNOW I need to do in order to make the best of this: 1) Make /eat better food choices - do I reaally need Starbucks, a cookie, whatever... 2) Drink more Water 3) Exercise Yet all 3 seem to be eluding me or rather I am eluding them and I want to stop but I just can't seem to grasp it. Good luck to you girl!!

I'm going through puberty again.
Hang in there girl I think a good number of us have that happen, I know I did and still do occasionaly. I was a raging bitch, I would cry easily and get annoyed VERY easily - my poor fiance didn't know what to do with himself. And of course the fact that he is SUPER sensitive himself didn't help either because I would be crazy and it would make him feel bad or that it was his fault and then I would feel bad and yah.. crazy times. It's getting better for me and it will get better for you too! *big hug!*

Size goal vs Pound goal
Hmm, I don't think I have a size goal because I don't know what I look like besides being overweight/plus size. I have been wearing plus sizes since I was a teenager so I have no idea... therefore I set a weight goal - I have NO idea what size I will be at that goal (155lbs) or if that is even a good goal for me, it was just a number I picked that seemed like a good place to start and as I get closer to goal then I will have to reevaluate I think.

Puberty and obesity - possible link?
Hmm let's see I was in the 6th grade ... so 10 or 11 when it happened, by that point I had already been developing breasts and I was already on the heavier side (one of the biggest kids in the class thats for sure) however I was crazy active as a kid and even then I was on soccer teams, volleyball teams, played Rugby during lunch/recess. By grade 7 I was a D cup and over 5'4", by high school (our school was gr 8-12) I was probably a size 16+ and a DDD. Once I developed LARGER breasts my activity level went to almost none as running or anything of the sort was an EXTREME challenge with breasts that size (they just continued to get larger through high school years - when I had a reduction at 19 I was a G or H) so I found myself hating physical activity of any kind because it was so difficult. Do I think there could be a tie between puberty and obesity? Sure I do. My sister was a pretty average size through all her high school years and we were complete opposite - she was 5'3, smaller chested, and smaller in general - I was 5'4+ (5'7 now), VERY large chested, larger in general and I was the active kid of the two of us, I was the one on the sports team, in track and field, etc.

My own worst enemy
I have been trying to decide if I would post this to my blog (which I may in the long run) but wanted to post it here for my fellow January's to read as well to see what others have to say, if I'm not the only one with this struggle (I can't be!)... In 2 days (April 23rd) I will be 3 months post op (my surgery was Jan 23) and I have lost 33.5lbs (includes 5lbs preop) with my journey so far (tomorrows my "weigh in" day so I'm not sure if that 33.5 has changed much for the past week) and if you were to break that down to 33.5 lbs divided by 3 months that is just over 11 lbs per month. Although that's not how it was lost, it's been in spurts and stages - one week nothing, maybe gain a pound, next week down 4 lbs - I'm sure you all know how that goes... So all in all 11 lbs a month is a good start (even though a good chunk of that was lost in the post-op diet phase). Despite my 33.5 lbs in almost 3 months I cannot help but feel I am my own worst enemy when it comes to this surgery. I have had two fills thus far and have slight restriction - I say slight because the only thing that stops me from eating when I have that full feeling is me - if I keep going I won't PB or anything of the sort.. in fact to date I have never PB'd or slimed. My food choices some days are less than fantastic (not all the time but definitely I'd say a good 65% of the time) and HATING cooking doesn't do me any favors (especially when you have to cook for more than just you). Yes, I eat WAY less than I would have post band that's for sure but I can't help but think I could be doing SO much better with this than I am yet even though I think that I can't seem to put it into action. I want more than anything to be successful with this surgery but seem to be lacking that little "click" in my brain that tells me what I should and should not be eating. I have an appointment this Friday with my doc just as a general checkup/follow up and if I need a fill we will go from there. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I need to be one of those people that has the super restriction in order to make the best of this as opposed to one that can still eat everything but in lesser amounts (like I am now). Thoughts, opinions? Anything? Much luv.

Rant:Expedia Sucks!
Eeek, I have heard some sketchy things about Expedia but that is terrible! Like Marimaru, I usually go to those places (Expedia, Priceline, etc) to see who they list as the cheapest then go to that companies website and book through them - I have found that for flights as an example Priceline's fares are VERY comparable to going direct to the airline.

Port pain
Hmm sounds very similar to what I have been feeling but mine is definiately a few inches away from my port (I can feel my port under my skin by rubbing my tummy). It seems to be very random when it happens to but it seems to be morning time after I've eaten when it does happen.

Port pain
Grace, would you say that the pain is exactly where your port is or just near it? The reason I ask is I occasionally get this pain that I would imagine would be what gall stones feel like - except it's on my left side a few inches from my port and your gall bladder is on the right side. I seem to only get it earlier in the day and it usually goes away within a few days. I thought perhaps it was tied to milk too as it happened after I would have my breakfast protein shake (milk and protein powder) but then the other morning it happened after I had tea (no milk) before I ate breakfast. Very strange.

Well don't I feel foolish
Oh man, that sucks, I'm sorry but I did lol.

BMI rant! Overdone, I know.
I must agree that BMI (especially for men) can be a tough one. At your height and with your body structure (since you powerlift I must assume you are quite muscular) I think you need to have an end goal weight that you are comfortable with and still healthy. The BMI definitely doesn't take into account if you have 30lbs more muscle mass than your other average guy your age and height. And well done with the 45lbs gone! Woohooo keep up the good work

ladies..
I was able to wear panties during my op (wasnt during TOM either they just let me) and personally I found the surgery to be not all that bad and was up going to the washroom easily. I would say if you are comfortable wearing a pad then to do so - I dont think changing it would be hard and you just have to ask for your bag of things when you go into the area after surgery. Good luck with your surgery.
