  1. I have to say that good on you, but this reminds me of a Klondike Bar commercial.. the one where the guy and his wife are sitting at a table outdoors facing each other and a woman is walking by towards the man (the back of the mans wife) and he keeps looking at his wife and talking to her, then it breaks to the "a beautiful woman walks by and this man didn't even lift his eyes of his wife" or something like that "he deserves a Klondike Bar" -always thought that was cute. Hahah that's funny - that made me lol at work. I have to say that I have never really noticed adverse reactions from people or have never had the honks and mean comments made from people in cars. But to that extent maybe because Ive been heavy my entire life I do not know the opposite or what kind of service I am supposed to get.. Will be fun to find out!
  2. Sorry I didn't get a chance to read the article but speaking from someone on the west coast (British Columbia) I had to pay for my surgery as it is not covered by government medical and for extended medical companies (through employers, etc.) most of them have the clause that won't cover WLS. For our medical coverage we do pay to the government (BC Medical Services Plan) a monthly premium but it is based on your income - to give you an example my yearly gross is $45,000 and my monthly payments would be approximately less than $20 for a single person but my employer actually pays that premium for me. Whenever we go to the doctor, the hospital, walk in clinic - there is no charge to us. If you got hit by a bus tomorrow the only thing you would be charged for is an ambulance fee which I believe is around $50-75 (not sure never been in one lol). The one thing with our medical system is that waits for surgeries, procedures etc can be PAINFULLY long. Obviously if it's a life saving procedure that is different but say you have had back pain or something and they want to send you for a CatScan or MRI you can be waitlisted sometimes upwards of 6months to even get that done. Lapband is not covered here as I mentioned but Gastric Bypass is - however, due to limited dr's performing it as well as how much they allot per year for it I believe the wait list if you qualify to have it paid for by BC MSP is approx 6 years right now.
  3. That is fantastic and amazing and kinda weird all at the same time! Great NSV though! Feeling someone's arm muscles is one thing but pecs... AND thighs?! Yeeeks that's a definite feel up for sure.
  4. I was self pay and it cost $400.00 for the consultation
  5. Do not freak out about being able to eat anything and everything at 5 weeks. Until you have had your first fill (and depending on your fill amount and band size it could be your 3rd fill - or more) and have restriction it's up to you and your will power to make the most of the situation, sucks I know but once you get that fill and get towards a good restriction level you will be rocking It took me at least 3 fills to even notice a difference. And operagal, it's good that you realize you have "the last meal attitude" and know you have to do something about it as I had a VERY bad case of that and trust me, as I am sure you know, it doesn't do you any favours... Good luck everyone
  6. Thanks Heather (and everyone else) for the support, I was having a pretty bad few days when I posted that and have been feeling better recently. I know it's a step by step process but somedays it just makes me want to cry, scream throw a tantrum, you know hehe. I had my last fill on Thurs June 12 and go for my next one on July 10 hopefully that one I will be able to get a bit more of an agressive fill. I am probably at about 6.6 or 6.8 or around that in an I'm not sure how big but I am guessing 10cc MIDband (I am not sure how much because my doc has never given me a straight answer on that total cc amount). I do need more restriction that is for sure. After this next appointment July 10 I am going to book the next one a lot sooner. I have to take 4hrs off work to drive out and back so I don't want to go too frequently if I can avoid.
  7. So glad to hear that you are doing better and your new doctor is giving you the help and respect you deserve. I was very appalled to hear of your treatment, that is just horrid!
  8. Thanks girlie, I actually just had a fill on Thursday... so far doesn't seem to be any more restriction than the 2 before it at this point. Raiding the house to throw out food wouldn't be difficult since well... the house is pretty empty, need to grocery shop lol.
  9. This is part of an exceprt I posted on my blog but thought that I would make a post here as well, perhaps for added guidance, insite, I don't know .. something? haha. I knew that this was not supposed to be easy but I never thought it would be this hard. I am about one straw left to being full blown discouraged and completely given up. In the past 6 weeks I have done nothing but gain 4-5 lbs. I want so badly (or do I? I don't even know) to get back on track but each step backwards, each lb gained or no lbs lost breaks me just a little bit more and makes it even that much more discouraging. My willpower to keep strong at this is just about gone. I NEVER in my wildest dreams thought I would fail so badly at this. Oh yah, gained another lb this week....
  10. way to go heather! keep up the good work
  11. Love love love the recipes, wonder if I can buy ground chicken? The idea of grinding my own makes me wanna ralph (I hate touching raw meat). I am not a "cooker" but these recipes sound tasty and just may be a good way to get me started on better meals. I think I am going to start meal planning like you do, I think I need it. I hate cooking so I try to avoid it and that is when things go downhill so maybe if I force myself to follow my meal plan that will help.
  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND CONGRATULATIONS!! *HUGE HUG* that is fabulous, I'm so excited for you and so proud of you :w00t:
  13. BBK, fabulous. The transformation is beautiful and you should be so proud of yourself. Well done girl, you are an inspiration!
  14. Hmm my doc never had me stop... but I had no issues so *knock on wood* I guess!
  15. Oh gosh, my heart sank. *hugs to you and your family* and in my thoughts for their families, how horrid. A terrible accident for the fellow, unfortunately could have happened to anyone. But the young lady - I don't even have the words...
  16. Never seen the commerical personally - do they have before and after photos? Are they "photoshopped" - is it an actress? interesting thought indeed....
  17. Peter, I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts during this terrible time. Thank you for taking a moment to post what I'm sure is a hard post to make.
  18. Perhaps before they start saying that we consume more fuel and don't use public transportation, etc. perhaps someone should reevaluate the public transportation system, relying on public transportation in my town is a joke.
  19. Awesome progress and photos everyone, you are all doing so well!
  20. oh gosh, I am so sorry that they were so inconsiderate and that happened to you! I wish you the best.
  21. I have restriction but I don' think I am at my sweet spot yet - well I may be now but just don't know it as I am on the "post fill eating" until today so we'll see how solids go down. But regardless of sweet spot or not - I am losing weight and that's fantastic !
  22. Yay to everyone and their recent NSV's how amazing. I'm SOO proud of everyone
  23. I was going to suggest this exact same idea - spend a week writing down the times that he is on the computer say Monday from 6pm to 10pm or whatever it is, track it for a week (including weekends) and at the same time during that week try to keep track of the time he spends with you and with your kiddo and write that down as well ... then sit him down at the end of the week show him and say look at this, this has got to change before you destroy our family. I wish you the best in getting your hubby back *big hug*
  24. Hmm, I don't really know what to say except it will be hard for you to get him to realize where you are coming from... And I say this being a former "WoW Junkie" . I have played (and still play) World of Warcraft since it was released. I went through a period where it was all I did as well, straight home from work, didn't go out much it was just GAME GAME GAME all the time. (I never let hygeine, etc fail though lol) I was single at the time and my family doesn't live near me... Anyways the thing that ended up changing how much I played was my guild disbanded which meant no more raiding and time commitments. It was nothing to my own choice as to how it happened but it did. From that point on I played a bit more casually and have ever since. I still play everyday (well almost everyday) but have had periods of time where I havent played for a couple of months. During this time I have met and gotten engaged to my fiance - he knows that WoW is my hobby and he now plays too. But that is exactly what it is - a hobby. Unfortunately I dont know what to tell you - but I've been where he is, and where the other posters friends/family members are - and I can't even explain it, but it entrenches you. To this day I still LOVE that game. It took my guild falling apart to change my play style and the fact that my closest friends played too (albeit other servers) we were all kind of in the same boat. Now we all play casually (actually my best friend met her now husband on WoW lol). I hope things are going to be okay, I wish you and your family the best.
