Sending Prayers to everyone that has upcoming surgeries and for quick recoveries. I am just starting the process and hope I will be able to have surgery sooner rather than later but I am scared but know it is something I have to do if I want to live.

I was always the office supplier of food, especially on Friday which is an 11 hour workday. candy, homemade quick breads, cakes, and Cookies - there was always a supply on the counter. I still do it on occasion because I like to bake but there's no one at home anymore to eat it. When I do my coworkers claim I am making them bigger so I will look smaller (but they enjoy it). Lol. I try not to do it as often as I used to and on occasion I make or buy healthier options. I don't want to tempt anyone else to over-indulge and I don't want to tempt myself. NO ONE needs a lot of junk food. :-)

Most likely no one in the office needs a steady supply of candy. Why do you keep buying it? Halloween is a one day celebration. Have the candy on 10/31 and not other wise.

I understand completely. My life has been halted by my weight. My kids are growing and experiencing life while I'm sitting on the sidelines. Having surgery terrifies me. I've never had surgery but I see the worst case scenarios everyday at work. I have faith that this surgery will give me the full life I deserve. Have faith and know that you will be ok. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Please keep me in yours.

I am going through a range of emotions....so excited about the surgery to a healthier life and then I start to fear the surgery and pray all goes well. I love everything about my life my Son, my Husband, family and friends it's just my weight is slowly taking my life the quality of life. I can't do things like I use to. I have did all the test and was cleared on everything no problems. I just worry ya know? Please say a prayer for me and my Husband that all goes well. That is awful kkelly37 which nurse was it? I went off on a nurse along with my husband one night. She informed me she had to get report that why I had to wait 1 hour for pain meds. Needless to say that was the wrong thing to say. I informed her if you worked for me on my nursing unit that would never come out of her mouth patients come first.

I think turn the page was just stating to heed some caution. Which is actually a quite nice thing to do. It can only just help you.
Doctors' plans differ indeed, but some of the stuff you mentioned makes red lights go off in my head, after a year of intense research about what we should and shouldnt be eating and doing.
Best to be cautious, and i think you should thank her for taking the time to just give you a heads up - seeing that she might have some more experience you know?
She was trying to help you. And to be truthful, it does seem - on paper - that it does not fit into the tried and trusted path op post op menu paths - and seeing at it is "unknown territory" this way of eating the chance for failure is bigger - cause it is not following the proven track of success.
Maybe you should do some reading on tried and tested progression menus - just to widen your perspective of what is happening in the world of bariatric surgery's proven best diets straight out of surgery.

I was hardly shouting out negative remarks, just making an observation and trying to offer helpful suggestions. That you chose to take it negatively is a reflection of your interpretation, not of my writing.
Different doctors have different food protocols, but yours seemed very different from virtually all those that I have read on several bariatric center websites and forums. Most of the food plans seem to emphasize Protein from the beginning (protein is what helps your body rebuild tissue and strength, especially after surgery) and shun carbs like bread, Pasta, Cookies, pretzels--foods that helped many of us put on the pounds in the first place. That's why I suggested you check your food plan--it seemed unusual and I thought that perhaps like some people you weren't following a plan.
In any case, congratulations on your success to date and best wishes for the future.

I'm about 42 hours after surgery and feeling great. I was expecting so much pain and it hasn't been unbearable at all. I'm just doing what I'm told and all seems to be going well. I hope everyone else is fairing as well. It's still a little hard to believe that it's done that my new journey has started.
