No I hadn't talk to my doctor yet. But I do plan to call him. I do think its mental hunger, because I'm not physically hungry at all. Just my mind saying eat!

I keep a "Jif to go" packet with me at all times....just in case I need a snack I'll have some Protein and not be tempted to grab something unhealthy. It's gotten me by a few times when I needed something because my sugar dropped or I forgot to eat a meal. (WHAT? Did I just say I forget to eat sometimes??? Never thought that would be me!! but it happens once in a while!)

I had sushi a little over 3 months out. I was never a sushi fan before surgery but now I can't get enough of it.

I have always been heavy. I was a closet eater, a binger & a boredom eater. I had reached 350 pounds and I had accepted I would be morbidly obese for the rest of my life. One day my dad asked me if I'd be interested in weight loss surgery. We went to the seminar and scheduled a consultation. I had my surgery 11/21/12 at only 19 years old. My highest weight was 350 pounds. I am currently 180 pounds. I feel better than ever and hope to be inspiration to people who feel there is no hope for a healthy life.

Well how's this for motivation - the more you work out the less likely hood of having the loose skin. I don't have much hanging skin in my arms and I think it is mainly because I focused on that during my workouts.
Figure out a goal for yourself and when you start to talk yourself out of your workout think of your goal and strive for it!

Right before I had my surgery a good friend of mine asked what my goal size was, and I told her a 10. The day I came home from surgery, she came over and had bought me a pair of jeans from Victoria's Secret in size 10. I remember looking at them thinking, "wow, I will never fit in these tiny things".
    I wore them today

It definitely could be the fat content or eating too fast. During this time you're still healing so you have to remember to take it easy, eat slow. I would get sick as well. Eat jell-o, broths, clear stuff for now and then revisit the creamy stuff like yogurt and cream Soups. Eat sugar free Popsicles those will help with dehydration. Some days it was all I could keep down. If it doesn't get better by next week, I would contact your doctor.

It is always a bad idea to compare yourself to, or set your expectations based on, the results of others. The fact that my weight loss may be different from yours means absolutely nothing. There are simply too many variables.
Consider focusing that energy on following the protocol as closely to the letter as you possibly can, log you food, stay active and stay away from the scales for a week at a time - two would be even better. Allow your body to find its own way in its own time. You're gonna love the new you!!

Hi everyone, I had RNY 7 weeks ago today at UCSF here in northern California. My husband and I live on the Mendocino Coast and are both educators. I am an elementary school (k-2) librarian and he is a high school government/history teacher. At 28 I was diagnosed with diabetes and then at 29 I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. I had a successful surgery where they removed my entire left kidney along with the gigantic cancerous tumor that was attached to it! Because of the diabetes and history of kidney cancer my doctors recommended the RNY. So now, at the age of 31, I am on the road to a healthy life! I have been very lucky so far, no complications and I have had no problems getting my liquids and Protein in everyday. It is amazing how much your posts have helped me during this process so far. It is so comforting to hear stories that are so similar to my own experiences. I look forward to getting to know all of you and sharing our journeys together!

I had my RNY Gastric bypass on January 7th of this year and it felt I had finally found the solution I was always searching for. I began preparing to have the surgery the September prior and it felt like every moment that went by I was just waiting for the day to start my life over; like I was only half present during holidays, dates, or work and half counting down the hours.
I got down to about 100 lbs this past June, just in time for my birthday; but, ill admit I hadn't been consistently playing by the rules, I started smoking again, drinking alcohol, picking at foods when I'm cooking, not taking Vitamins, not exercising and loading up on the carbs. My weight loss had stopped and it seemed like I had lost all motivation to get it up and running again. It wasn't until last Monday that I was re awoken. A week ago I watched my boyfriend have the same surgery, with the same surgeon and later recover in the same room. I remembered how hard starting out was for me and I knew that I needed to be strong for both of us.
I feel alive again, and I won't dare lose focus again. I bought new vitamins that I have been taking vigilantly, drinking my Water and making better food choices. I'm still working on the exercise but ill get there.
I'm grateful I got the opportunity to change my life and I'm even more grateful that I get to experience this journey with the person I care for most.

And the Unjury unflavored can be added to anything (not boiling hot stuff), like yogurt, tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, and any liquid. I put it in my Decaf iced coffee a lot. It dissolves completely & has no flavor. Yesterday I mixed it in a little homemade guacamole.

Ok first batch was a little flat. My second batch I added twice as much cream of tartar (1/2 tsp) and beated the egg white mixture longer until it really looked like a cloud.
    Came out really good.
I made my 2 yr old grilled cheese sandwiches out of it and she killed them.
Top and bottom slice is 5 grams of Protein. I'm not really hungry right now so I'm eating mine with a turkey patty for dinner.

My surgeon never mentioned a goal and I didn't want to know so I didn't ask. I went into the journey believing that my body would tell me when it was where it wanted to be and that's exactly what happened. I followed the protocol as closely to the letter as I could and when I stopped losing weight, that was the number - 155 lbs and loving the new me!!
