  1. Bariatric advantage sent me a sample pack for free. I just called and said I was having a gastric bypass. They have delightful calcium chews...as far as free protein samples, I don't know of any
  2. Yes. I irritated my pouch early out with spaghetti sauce over ricotta cheese. Don't eat rotel and see if it goes away. Mine can now handle mild salsa
  3. Oh, and I just broke a 14 day stall. Maybe 15. I'd have to check
  4. I have a bestie 6 years post op. she eats normally. She just eats about 1/2 what a regular person eats. She eats sugar on occasion but her body prefers raw sugar and honey. And she doesn't eat a lot of it. I understand wanting to know that someday you might get a treat.
  5. Please call your doctor. I've never had pain eating

I drink before meals. You will never be allowed to drink during or after. It washes all your food out of your pouch and can cause dumping. you have a hole at the bottom of your pouch. You move it through too quick with drinking right after and force all the food into the small intestine.
  7. What are you eating? pureed food is like...cream of broccoli soup put in a blender. Not a lot of spices or seasonings.
  8. I found these awesome parents choice toddler things. Cheddar cheese little munchers baked whole grain snack. I dipped them in hummus. 18 of them have 30 calories and 5 grams of carbs. They just kinda dissolve...but super crunchy. So it gave me that crunchy chip/cracker hummus experience. It's pretty awesome. Don't know if they're the best choice, but they certainly aren't bad.
  9. 3 days or something like that for insurance to approve me and then they almost scheduled me a week later...but I needed more time to work out work issues.
  10. I've noticed it some. Let's just hope they never have stomach cancer or an issue that damages that sleeve too bad and have no stomach left to turn to. Also, it has a higher failure rate *especially those that have no dumping cuz you can wash down a pack or oreos. Everyone makes their own choice and we've seen several sleeve to rny revisions. It's not that the sleeve is a bad procedure. They just don't get that metabolic reset and malabsorbtion that someone with my issues needs. I was not a candidate for sleeve or band. Just switch or Rny. And switch is supposedly the best.
  11. Good luck to everyone having surgery this upcoming week! I found a ton of bakeable, freezable, and microwavable dishwasher safe 4 oz ramikins at walmart. I have 10. This is the best thing I ever bought. I put beans, mushroom soup, brocolli soup, brocolli and cheese soup and so on in the oven then eat them for lunch and dinner. it helps. I also hit 299 this morning! My 15 day stall ended 2 days ago and I'm down 3 more pounds. This is the first time I've been under 300 in 5 years!!!! I also found little plastic plates and little tiny bowls at walmart. Now if I could just find some decent, without princesses or cars, toddler silverware!
  12. You put chicken and veggies in a pot and simmer FOREVER until it starts physically breaking down into flavored water. Season with salt and such. Then you pour it through a strainer or cheesecloth.
  13. This is a major life change. It's totally normal to feel unsure or scared. I was fine *mine moved really quick. I started researching in like february and had surgery in April 1. All I had to do was sleep study and blood test before so* But the last 2 weeks before surgery....I kept wavering and was one second from calling it off. Then there comes that moment...when you're at the hospital and they haven't taken you back yet and you know that this is it. This is the moment. Either you put your life and future in this persons hand and start a new chapter...or you yell hell NO and run. So, research. Ask questions. Find a surgeon that you feel comfortable with handing over your life...and do what feels right. My surgeon intimidates me. I get nervous when he comes in the room.....but do I believe the man is skilled and the best possible surgeon that I could find? Oh yeah. I do. I have no doubt that he's one of the top in his field and that my success is his success. So I did it. And I'm happy. Today was the first time in FIVE years that I've been under 300. I'm 299!

My surgeon also recommended warm lemon juice and water in the morning for nausea

Mine was April first. I eat salmon, tilapia, mashed potatoes, cream soups, refrained beans, puréed chicken salad, Greek yogurt, sugar free apple sauce, SF pudding, baby bell cheese that I chew very good, low fat ricotta.
  16. Tilapia sits heavy in my pouch, but I've been eating it a lot. I dipped last night in egg whites and then coated them in Parmesan and Italian bread crumbs. Then I covered it in fat free tarter sauce. Sigh, it still tasted like fish though. I'm so not a fan of fish. I wish I were though.

Oh and atkins chocolate chip granola. 17 grams of protein. One gram of sugar. They DO have 9 grams of sugar alcohol though. It's not horrible, but if you're super sensitive...It could have an impact I guess.

Quest is yummy. Expensive, but yummy. GNC carries them.
  19. I'm still on soft so I use my small casserole dishes and my ramikins and measure out fat free beans. Then I spoon a good amount of pureed mild salsa on them and bake them until they get crispy around the edges. Then I pull them out and put 75% less fat sharp cheddar *that surprisingly melts!* and when they cool and I put them in the fridge.....sigh. I slap a piece of velveeta on the top. so when I microwave them...they taste like bean rotel dip!

I eat fish with lemon and add lemon slices to my Water. No issues. You need to make sure you deseed it though. One lemon seed and you'd be sorry, I imagine. That's my fear. I use my slicer and inspect each one before it goes on or in anything. I'm 27 days out.
  21. I was also allowed dill pickles during the first week of my two week diet.
  22. Talk to your surgeon and maybe only listen to actual medical studies. Most people get pre surgery jitters, but that's not what yours sound like. You can always reschedule.
  23. Yeah, I'm going to ask about it tomorrow at my visit. I ate a few crackers the other day. Chewed them to mush...I don't think my pouch liked them though.
  24. broccoli and cheese soup with extra cheese on top I'm also in love with yoplait greek 100 cherry right now. I have to spit out the cherry pieces, but it's pretty delightful. That was breakfast.
  25. Pb2
