Why not these foods?

I was told the same. No bread because it expands in your pouch and will plug up the stoma. No rice or Pasta because they clump together and also plug up the stoma. After six months your pouch may be able to handle it but not right now.

Good to know .

Yeah, those foods go on the "no" list along with sugar, caffeine, carbonated drinks, juices and anything with sugar, and some dairy products except Greek yogurt. A coworker of mine had this done 2 yrs ago and she is now able to eat a little pasta, but only thin linguine or spaghetti.

At my 8 week I was released to eat 1 slice of toasted whole wheat bread, whole wheat pastas, and brown rice...haven't tried the rice but bread and Pasta are no problem for me....I am a slow eater and take tiny bites though....(I had Peanut Butter toast for Breakfast this am, heaven!!!)

HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 255, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 221.6

I have a diet and on it is whole wheat bread, toasted 5/5 and ground meat. My surgery was 4/1.

I was for sure I would be able to do whole wheat bread. Actually I did try a piece the day before I went to the doctors because i thought that was on my eight week list. But she said no. :-(

I am going to look thru my list again.

Wow that is quick. I only could do mushy the first 8 weeks.

I allowed everything except pasta, rice, bread and of course carbonated drinks. She said at six months i can do all those food except carbonated drinks

Yeah, I'm going to ask about it tomorrow at my visit. I ate a few crackers the other day. Chewed them to mush...I don't think my pouch liked them though.
