8 week checkup
I have a diet and on it is whole wheat bread, toasted 5/5 and ground meat. My surgery was 4/1.

Not hungry...
Lots if nasty ones. Burnt rubber and bottled sadness

I was on a bariatric floor at a large hospital and they brought me regular black coffee for breakfast and regular tea for lunch. I refused it. They also told me "if they bring you a real meal, refuse it". This is a BARIATRIC FLOOR.

I went back to work today. SO TIRED. Anyone ever have their pouch sore? Just like to the touch? I think maybe I inflamed it.

Maybe TMI, BUT....
My superpower is...repression. I certainly would ask him. Can't hurt to, right? Maybe there's a known reason...

Vitamins
My surgeon told me what kind of vitamin and how often to take it. I chose celebrate chewable pineapple strawberry

Severe pain behind bellybutton
I had it. It went away. Heat helps. I felt like I'd ripped open that incision on the left of my belly button.. it hurt to stand, sit up, lay, move....it was sore to the touch. It DID go away though. After about 2 weeks.

What EXACTLY can I eat at these restaurants....?
Hungry Girl is your friend. Of course, you'd need to use caution since we have a pouch but http://www.hungry-girl.com/biteout/show/2599

Regrets
But you should be able to drink water again soon, right? I really do hope it gets better.
-
Regrets
What's making you unhappy? The loss of food? You'll be able to eat again sooner or later, just less and better choices. You'll be satisfied with less food. I'm sorry you have regrets and I hope it works out for you.

Newbie getting readyfor surgery. How did you feel?
I have a high tolerance for pain but this hurt me. I was IN LOVE with my morphine button and just now started wearing jeans again 2 days ago. Mine was 4/1. You'll be fine. Cough up everything you can and poot everything out! Gas was my worst thing. Mine just wasn't passing so I had to have a few things like a suppository. VIOLATED! I did it myself though, so that should tell you it's not that bad. Take chapstick, wetwipes, hand sanitizer, and real clothes and shoes.

Eating
They have meds for that. I don't remember the names but there are anti nausea meds you can use. Your body needs sustenance.

Dehydration/hydration
I'm 18 days out today and just now starting to get the hang of it. I can now drink quite a bit in an hour. Before it was impossible...so just suck popcicles and ice chips and wait until it gets better. I've eaten 6 sugar free pops in a day before. I finally started making my own out of my crystal light stuff cuz the pops were freaking me out. Too much dye. Too much sweetener.

What ya eating tonight?
My newest food addiction that seems to do well with my pouch is: 1 container of fage yogurt plain, 1 cup cottage cheese, 2/3 banana sliced thin, 1 tablespoon sugar free apricot preserves, 1 pack splenda. I only eat 2-3 ounces over an hour...BUT I mix it and keep it in the fridge. Good protein, soft, keeps my pouch happy.

I didn't go for almost a week AFTER surgery. It's normal for everything to take a while. I go back to work Monday. Of course I don't want too. But hey, I'm luck y for no major complications so far.

Homemade protein bar recipes
I found a lot on pinterest and youtube. I'm sure most can be tweaked away from honey and such if you have issues with them.

What to take and have on hand...
Chapstick phone/charger kindle/ipad facial cleansing pads←I washed my face 3 times a day. I've always been greasy though Antibacterial hand/body wipes←same thing I liked wiping myself down lotion I took tshirts, sports bras, panties, slip on shoes and loose pants. As soon as my catheter was out I was in my regular clothes. They unhooked my iv so I could get dressed up top and I took a "bath" with my antibacterial wipes. Slip on tennis shoes so I didn't have to walk those halls in my socks. Gross hair brush Hair ties soap. I took my own and shampoo and conditioner. The stuff they give you blows.

Compression belt?
I ordered one off amazon and it should be here soon. I want it for sitting at my desk due to that pulled muscle. I know some people have surgeons that send them home with one.

Sugar & Carb addict!
You're only 38 pounds from your goal...and this is a tool. I don't know...maybe ask the family to not have the cheetos, tacos and sugar cookies in the house? I'm not sure the answer, I'm sorry.

Protein Mix or Shakes..
Sigh, I'm also discouraged by protein. I've bought so many at GNC and taken them back. Today I got pure protein chocolate from walmart and was loving it. Mixed well with milk, tasted good..I was stoked! Then I noticed....it's 100% whey...not 100% whey ISOLATE. So, I don't even know what I'm absorbing in that crap. I just needed something until my unjury order gets here. I ordered 2 chocolate, a vanilla and unflavored. I already have the chicken.

Have you been passing gas? My pain left a lot when I got all that gas out. They threatened an enema, mine wasn't going anywhere and you probably are swollen...but gas release will help that.

April 2013 Post-Op Group
This was mine EXACTLY. I called the surgeons nurse. She said I pulled something. I sleep on the left of our bed. So that big incision pulled when I tried to get up cuz my cat flipped out in the middle of the night. She said: As long as you are passing gas, still having bowel movements, no temperature, there wasn't an actual bulge like a hernia and there was no heat or redness, to just keep an eye on it and call if anything gets worse.
