Newly Banded
Congrats on your band! Follow your aftercare instructions closely, like you are. Get lots of walking in, that will help move all that gas out!

Hello from a Newbie!!!
Welcome Pam! This is the place to be to learn.... people are honest. You'll know the pros and cons to make a decision for yourself. Look around and if you have questions, fire away!

Kind of Gross question But....
OH I know exactly what you are talking about! I feel for ya and it's just one more thing to deal with. Do you wear tampons? That is what I'm going to have to do as I'm due right around my surgery date. I told my doctor this yesterday and he kind of laughed saying my period wasn't a problem but I said that if I didn't tell him, I would be worrying about it for the next 3 weeks. They'll let you wear the super sexy paper panties. :omg:

New to Lapbandtalk
Hi Laura! Welcome!!

Aussie newbie
Hi Nikki - welcome! It is perfectly normal to have second thoughts! My surgery is 9/5 and I think I'm nervous, anxious, and excited - all rolled into one! I told my DH to be calm and remind myself of all the reasons why I'm doing this when I am going through one of my "I'll talk myself out of it phases". It helps to have a list in front of you and I know for me, the side to do it far outweighs the side to not. It's OK to reach out and say "I need help!". Glad to have you here!!

new with questions
I was told to take in 60 grams of Protein a day. A lot of it will depend on you personally and your band. If you are not getting enough by eating alone, you can supplement with a shake. Using a program like fitday.com can help you plan your meals and how many nutrients you are getting on a daily basis. Welcome! Glad to have you here!

Interference From Others
Carolyn, I'm sure this is difficult for you. It's hard when we are not getting the help and support we would like. Will is right - the only validation we need is from ourselves. Not that it is easy.... If you are making a choice to put your health and wellbeing first, then other opinions should not matter.

New to Site, would like input!
You don't have to do it alone! Do your research, stay here, ask questions. You will find that path that is right for you! Did something at the seminar bother you? Good luck!

September 07 Roll Call
I'm scheduled for 9/5!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Dr. Kirshenbaum question
OK - it's official! My consultation with Dr. K went great and I love that he answers all questions, even my funny and really dumb ones! I have my flight and car all set up for my surgery day on 9/5! I'm feeling good about this and I feel like I am prepared. DH and I are flying in Sunday night to do some sight-seeing before the big day and then leaving Saturday morning. I think I've given myself plenty of time and I'm really looking forward to not being in hot, sticky Florida for a while!

I'm another newcomer..
Hi Secret - welcome! I don't think you need to tell everyone you know - especially if you don't think they will be supportive. I am telling only a few people and maybe that will change in the long run. I don't need their approval - I'm doing this for me and my life. This is something I have had to learn and really it's not selfish to do something for your health!

Newly-banded yesterday yesterday
Hi Lenny! Keep walking walking walking to work that gas out and some people find relief using a heating pad on their shoulders/back. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Dr. Kirshenbaum question
Wow - I admire you driving that far! My limit in the car is only 4 hours and therefore I can only make it to Tallahassee! However, I do think if that was the only way I could get to Dr. K, I'd deal with it!

Newbie here; surgery scheduled! Yay!
Hey Melissa! I hope you have a very speedy recovery! Lots of people loose weight in the first few months... the liquid diet probably helps with that a lot! Work with the band and you will have the success you've dreamed of!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Dr. Kirshenbaum question
Oh my gosh Mal... exactly! I have a million reasons to do it and very few not too and being scared shouldn't even show up on that list! I completely agree that harder work is sweeter in the end. We just had an adoption placement fail and we recognize that it just wasn't meant to be. It was hard on our hearts but when we have the baby that is meant to be ours, it will be a joy like we have never known. Same with this... I'm tired of feeling badly about myself that I can't seem to hold on to my weight loss successes. It always comes back plus a little more. Not the bonus I expected! I'm ready to do something for me because I've always put myself last. No more, this is my time. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why it wasn't the right time for our adoption. I will be a better parent for taking care of myself. Thanks for the encouraging words! I wish I could meet you all at the RR tonight....

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Dr. Kirshenbaum question
I'm in Florida so I will be flying in... no driving for this chickie!! I need a bandster twin! I'm getting the jitters but I told DH to remind me why I'm doing this because I knew I would start having second thoughts.

im a newbie
Hi Lindsey! Love your sassy new do! Congrats on your hard work so far - it is paying off! Thanks for reminding me to take before shots - no matter how much I don't want to!
