  1. after I lose 100 lbs...I want to go horseback riding. After 200 lbs I want to go to an amusement park that isn't Disney (Disney rides are what I call Fat People friendly) and ride all the roller coasters!
  2. It seems to me that peoples pre-surgery diet differ based on their surgeon. I knew I had to do a 3 week pre surgery diet. My process has taken a little longer than yours will, but the diet was VERY restrictive. 800 calories a day. 3 oz of protein a day. Very low fat high protein. Some people have to do full liquid diets prior to surgery from what I have read on here. I only have to do full liquid the day prior. Good luck. Stay focused. You are doing this for you and for your boys.
  3. I had talked with my pcp about 5 years when I first thought about doing this. I finally made the decision to go through with it after going to a seminar in April. Met with the surgeon who does the surgery. Once you do the original consult with the surgeon they will set you up with nutrition classes. At that point they asked me to call my doctors office and have them fax my medical history. Thats it. No reference needed. It was already in the files that I wanted/need to do this. I wish you luck. I am 27 and I agree that at your age it will help you live a better life. Sending you good vibes.
  4. Congrats! It is so exciting isn't it? By the time you are leaving the hospital I will be going in. Gah! Are you ready to start your new life?
  5. We have the same surgery date! Its going to be amazing!
  6. eeee! Super exciting! Congrats.
  7. My pre-op appointment is at 10 am (EST). I am having a hard time thinking about what to ask my Doctor. I am very prepared...but have no clue as to what to ask him. Are there any questions you all didn't ask but wish you had? Thanks!
  8. Congrats! Hope you are feeling good about everything and the pudding goes down easily.
  9. if it works out...please post the recipe!!!
  10. I am going to ask at my pre-op appointment on Monday, lol. I am more concerned about the time frame than the boyfriend. He's worried about hurting me.
  11. I am in the same boat. minus the diabetes. I hope everything works out for you hon!
  12. I have 11 tats, lol. And luckily I know they are looking rubenesque bodies all the time so they are used to it. But I also know that fat or skinny...we are beautiful people inside and out.
  13. I guess surgeons everywhere do different diets. Mine is 3 weeks, 800 calories a day which includes 2 protein shakes a day (one for breakfast, 1 for a snack) I was lucky that my hospital was doing a study for the 3 week diet to test out 2 different oils. So I haven't cooked in a week and a half. They will be taking a small sample of my bowels that are being removed anyway and a tiny sample of my liver. Do some surgeons make y'all do a full liquid diet weeks prior?
  14. Have you tried Nectar protein in water? I really like the roadside lemonade. And for the other "issue" I was told 1 400 iu soft gel of vitamin E everyday will help with constipation.
  15. Its not bad to be what people can aspire to have as their experience...I know everyone is different. But with hearing all the bad since I am pre-surgery (August 15th) hearing some good is excellent! Thank you for sharing.
  16. I think as long as you grill with the spray butter and chew chew chew you should be ok. I haven't had surgery yet but thats what my nutrionist says
  17. You need to be honest...because you want this to work for you. I was a boredom eater when I was younger...and I had to work through that before I was able to get approved for surgery. You need to ask yourself...Why am I eating? Its so hard, I know. I have my surgery August 15th. Keep in touch...I am always looking for friends who have made the same choice I have to have a better life!
  18. Have you talked a therapist yet? When you see him/her you need to let them know what is going on. Whether its just habit, hunger or something deeper (emotional/bored eating) you need to find out. I know you know this...the surgery is a tool. It can't change how we look at food. Good Luck
  19. I am in Piedmont Triad area...Kernersville (aka K-Vegas, lol)
  20. lol. I can't believe you are missing the hospital. Is that sarcasm I hear?
  21. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted when able. ::hugs::
