Las Vegas/alcohol
Can you go online and look at the nutritional stats for the drinks etc? I don't drink at all and honestly all that I have heard and the dangers of drinking with RNY if i did I would stay away from it as far as I could. You might want to research the dangers of drinking alcohol and death and serious issue for rny patients. Liver damage issues and death being serious consequences. (my friend's aunt died from liver damage due to drinking after rny and it was just wine a few times a week, not sure how much that is but does not seem like she was a drunk) On line they talk about how doctors just seem to ignore it and do not educate their patients, so if we are trying to be healthy we should at least research and educate ourselves if our doctors are not going to do it. Maybe someone has some solid info (betting DLCoggins does) to share? I just thought we should be aware and make educated decisions about our bodies and health. I would post the info I found I just don't have the info with me where I am currently.

Being Asked "are You Pregnant?"
Awww I am sorry! I have had my share of people (strangers usually) that have made similar comments since I carry so much of my wieght in my stomach. it hurts and is embarrasing for everyone, but how stupid of people to assume. Yay you are not going to have to deal with this again!

The Waiting Game :(
I had to have a referral because I am with an HMO. PCP referred me to dietician and I did those classes and that location handled all of the pre-surgery requirements (like EKG) up to the point of seeing the surgeon and endoscopy. I had to do the seminar before 6 month of classes was up then they set up the appointment with surgeon, but he would not see me until the diet classes were complete. Then I saw surgeon, he approved me and scheduled me for endooscopy and pre-op blood work. I did not need sleep study etc. Then after results of endoscopy and labs came back my paperwork was submitted to insurance and then it was just wait. Then it was approved I had pre-op labs and surgery scheduled. That was about a month to 6 weeks later, due to dr going on vacation and my daughter getting married. Biggest thing is advocate for yourself, as your own insurance what they require and if your surgeon has an patient insurance cooridnator (if a good one) then make use of them and dont be afaid to call them often if needed. Surgeon also has his own requirements, so helpful to know those too. Good Luck!

Not Losing Weight
I am now 8 1/2 weeks post-op and I went through that for over 3 weeks. In those weeks I lost nothing, well technically I lost but thats because I would gain a couple pounds and then lose that then nothing more. Then last week I lost almost 10 pounds but I am now back to gaining back a couple pounds and starting the whole process again. It sure gets frustrating, but it will start losing again and while I am not losing I do notice I am losing inches and while I am losing weight the inches are not dropping as much. So hopefully you measured yourself and do that weekly too. Cause that is what kept me motivated. Good advice it to stay off the scale for a week at least, but I was never able to do that, but sure wish I had the self-control to do it. See it go up and down is frustrating much more so than seeing a weekly weight only. But when it does drop daily it is so amazing that I thrive on it LOL. Just sucks when it is not happening. I had lost almost 50 pounds, was .8 away from 50 but now I am back to needing to lose 2 pounds, but I will get there sooner rather than later. We all will make our goals eventually, just takes patience and working the program.

What Are Our Calorie Limits?
I was told by my doctor I should be eating around 800 calories and wont go over 1000 for quite awhile. Also I was told to eat about 1/3 c to 1/2 c food at a meal. If it is mushie I find myself easily going over that 1/2 c, but I have yet to actually eat 800 calories but I am now finally eating regularly about 750 a day . I was told 3 meals and two Snacks and to make sure I do eat some fruit and veg. I tend to eat 2-3 oz Protein (but some fish is sooo soft I can eat 4 o 1 which helps with protein intake) and 1 to 2 oz of veg or fruit. I eat two high protein snacks of things like Jerky, cheese etc, and always carry them with me just in case. Make sure you are getting in enough protein, Water, and Vitamins daily.

Why Is The Doctor's Office My Hold Up?!
My insurance required a 6 month diet plan and monthly diet classes including a edonscopy, weight loss seminar, EKG and other labs before I was even allowed to speak to my surgeon. So after all that I saw my surgeon and then it was 6 weeks at least before my surgery. So I saw PCP last August, first diet class in September and my surgery was June 7. So you guys are getting in a heck of a lot faster than my process took.

Yogurt Question
I never could find any. I would use plain greek yogurt (which did have that low sugar content) and then add a bit of frozen fruit and a teaspoon of sugar free jam and that would do the trick. I used maybe 2 to 3 oz of yogurt.

Protein Cookies
whats the sugar and carb content too? Wonder what they taste like? how many cookies to get the protein and what is the calorie content too? Sooo many questions LOL Sorry

Post Op Complications
It did not happen to me but a coworker had the twisted bowel issue and now he has been post op over a year and has no issues. So it seems once they fix it you will be good- at least by looking at my friend. I might do and research on it. Btw he looks good and told me he doesn't regret it, I asked him before I did surgery

Protein Shots! No Not The Painful Kind!
I would read those ingredients very carefully as most if not all of those protein shots are not the right kind of protein and our body can not even digest them, so basically it is a waste of money and effort and you are not getting in your protein. Read through some of the boards as this has been explained a couple of times before you spend any more money on these.

Medical Clearance

Shopping!
Looking hot btw! I must say that yes it is so amazing to put on a size you swear will be too small to only find out it actually fits or almost fits, either way it is exciting. Been experiiencing this last weekend and dang it felt good. At work people pass me and say "wow you are melting away" and my clothes look like they belong to a clown. I keep getting told to go shopping LOL. too funny and fun to hear these kind of comments, and everyone has been so positive and encouraging at work and home, I am blessed for sure. Kevin you are right it sure helps to have those people who are positive and encourage you to make the positive strides. I have a couple of women at work who do that and one who decided she would be my RNY buddy and do all the things I do even though she has not had surgery (haha riiiiight) and execise with me, use same vitamins, use same shampoo etc she still eats anything she wants and has yet to exercise with me, but hey she offered LOL. She did buy the vitamins and shampoo haha. It was sweet though. My sweetie of 25 years though is my biggest supporter and Nick is always there to encourage me and tell me to stay strong and not get defeated. He works out with me, he makes my protein shakes for me etc... Again let me say it again I AM BLESSED!!

You Know You Could Die Right?
Too true! I go for my 8 week post op appointment tomorrow. I wonder what they will say. I still do not look forward to dr appointments even now. Which is weird cause I know they will have nothing but positive to say to me, but I guess that comes from too many appointments when the doctors were so stinking negative,

3 Mile Walk Dvd
I bought mine at amazon and it was a combo set that includes the 1,2,3 4 miles and I got the one that focus in your waistline and I paid about 15$ for each so 30$ or so total. Gotta get my DVD player to work in my bedroom. Had to get this since it's flipping hot here until middle of October.

My Birthday Next Week, Need Ideas
Thanks for the ideas, I still am not totally decided so keep them coming. Lol

My Birthday Next Week, Need Ideas
My doctor banned watermelon! He said it. Os empty calories and way too much sugar. But besides that I don't like watermelon. My kids are 11 and 16. I looked around and found a lemon cheesecake that's only 100 calories and almost no sugar or zero . They might do that one, looks easy and something they would like
