  1. I don't have the burning sensation. I drink wine about once a week.
  2. For me the full feeling is like "ugh I can't move and I can't eat another bite". Although it does feel a little different than before. Also, I get this full feeling from just a couple bites.
  3. I belonged to Shapes for 5 years when I lived in FL. I did like it there but I realized that their classes are only as good as the teachers. My favorite classes there were the step aerobics and kickboxing.
  4. Ok, so I was in Finland last week (AKA: Home of the sauna) and my work team and I did a "traditional Finnish sauna" as a team building experience. What an exhilirating experience! I truly does think that it rids your body of impurities and can help you lose excess water weight. At first it was so hot I didn't feel like I could stand it, but then it was ok. You do cycles where you leave the sauna and take a cold shower or swim and then go back in the heat. It gets your blood flowing. It was pretty awesome.
  5. allheart, I just went to an orthopedic surgeon for my knees and he didn't even weigh me...didn't tell me that I was fat. He just evaluated my situation and told me to avoid high impact exercises. He said that I could do the stationary bike, swimming, walking or the elliptical.
  6. I made this recipe as a vegetarian meal tonight for me and DH. we loved it! Thanks for sharing!
  7. Yeah, I love Brittany and Bernie too...stranger who had no one on the show. Dammit! Women just don't lose weight as fast as men...
  8. I often wonder about this. When my dr first gave me my eating instructions of 1,000 calories each day and 50 grams of protein she then immediately said "You won't have to eat like this forever, just until you get to your goal weight". The beauty of getting unfilled is that you have the band as a backup in case you need some restriction again.
  9. Carrabas - soup Outback Steakhouse - Potato soup, sweet potatoes, veggies, couple bites of my hubby's protein A Chinese Restaurant - won ton soup, couple bites of chicken Applebees - soup, chips & queso, mini sundae dessert Macaroni Grill - soup, couple bites of husbands entree Red Robin - chili, french onion soup, chips & queso Ruby Tuesday - soup, salad bar Wendy's - chili, baked potato McDonalds - don't eat here anymore but if I did, probably would try a salad. Chick F La - don't eat here anymore but I tried a salad once but couldn't eat the chicken. Panera's - soup! I love their soup. I can also eat turkey from a sandwich (no bread) Atlanta Bread Company - soup, salad Subway - soup, salad w/tuna Can you Eat Pizza? NY Style. Nope, can't eat it. Sometimes I can eat a 1/2 slice of very thin pizza
  10. I have been using mine for 5 months and I still LOVE it love love it!!!
  11. Sorry, lol, but yes, that would be it. You should try to up your Fiber. They have chewable fiber tabs and also some fiber/protein bars.
  12. surgical glue and steri-strips on the skin. In the inside (to stitch band and port) he used dissolvable stitches at first then when I had revision surgery he used real stitches to re-attach my port. Good luck!
  13. What a great feeling!!!! Congratulations!
  14. I always hate vomit before too. Yes, I still think it's worth it!!! You will learn very quickly to change your habits so that you don't eat too fast or eat the wrong thing. Basically you will do what you can to avoid the PB's. Good luck!
  15. I often feel this way. Only eat when you are physically hungry. When you are head hungry ask yourself why and what you are really feeling and deal with it.
  16. It's normal not to have restriction before fills. It's what is referred to as "bandster hell"...the time from your surgery until you get proper restriction. I had my first fill 4-5 weeks from surgery.
  17. You are fine...all dr's have different methods. I was on solids at 14 days.
  18. Welcome Karen and congratulations on your surgery date! You are doing very well to be on day and no cheating at all. You are well on your way to success!!
  19. I used to have reflux all the time before I was banded....all the time. It was mostly bc of the juink I was eating. I haven't had it since my surgery! 6 months and no reflux-- not once!
  20. 5 for me, but 1 has dissapeared so it looks like 4.
  21. I was always the HOT one. I always carried a fan in my purse so that I could fan myslef... haha. Now I am cold a lot. My hands are freezing right now as I type this. I have no idea why....but I figure if I am cold, then my metabolism is having to work harder to warm me up!
  22. I chew gum or down a lot of Water. Also, I try to address the issue at hand. Eating for me has always been emotionally driven, so I have to take a step back and ask myself what I am really feeling and why I feel the urge to eat. I used to snack all day long.... because I was stressed, etc. Stuffing my emotions is what I was trying to do.
  23. My first reaction is "leave Carnie alone". I have been there...lost a lot of weight, had plastic surgery to remove excess skin and then I gained it back. I know how she must be feeling. It is possible to gain back the weight with any weight loss surgery. My Dad had the bypass 7 years ago and put back on about 100lbs of what her originally lost. He eats a lot of ice cream, eats in the middle of the night, and grazes all day. It's possible, that's why you have to be right emotionally.
  24. It's not so much out with friends that I feel self-conscious as with co-workers in social situations. I travel a lot and have to eat with co-workers (sometimes strangers and clients). A lot of times I feel embarassed, self-conscious because it is very evident that I don't clean my plate like others. I get a lot of comments like, "you don't like your food? You aren't hungry? Are you feeling ok?" etc. It's ok if its just one meal, but if I eat several meals with the same people, they really notice that I don't eat much at all the meals.
