fills and insurance
All insurance is different....even if they are the same company the terms are very different so it's going to be hard to tell you "which one". What are your options? My fills are covered as a PCP visit so I have to pay a $20 co-pay.

1st fill today, confused on what happened
hard lump under the scar is scar tissue. The port is put through that big incision but sometimes placed/stitched to the muscle a few inches below that scar. As you lose weight it also might appear that your port is moving...although it's just your skin now. My fill poke used to be 2 inches below my scar. Now since i have lost weight and my skin has moved, the fill poke is almost on top of my scar.

Eating slow...
I was a slow eater before compared to others. Now I have to take it in a slow pause motion. bite, pause pause pause, bite. I also try to eat away from tv/computer/distraction and just focus on eating. I get full so fast, so its really hard.

From first visit to surgery... how long?
Mine took about 4 months
-
ladies..
bettyb -- No, I wouldn't reschedule. But that's bc it took so long for me to get a date, I wasn't going to reschedule unless the place caught on fire and I had to. I don't think its too much to manage...but it's up to you.

Just when you think you have it under control......
OH, I feel you. We moved to a new building last month and where is my desk? Right outside the breakroom! This means I smell everyone's lunch and to top it off they need something to do while their lunch is cooking in the microwave -- so they come and talk to me! Not like I am not busy or anything. And then I have to stare at the vending machine all day longingly looking at the doritos and chips. So I turned my desk around so I don't look in the breakroom when I am at work. And the worse thing? They installed a free popcorn machine ...so every day around noon they start popping popcorn all afternoon long and I have to smell it. Then when it runs out people ask if I am going to make more..I have never touched that thing and never will! My only saving grace is that I travel a lot, so I am not at the office that much, plus I work from home most of the time (the only way I get work done).

How much weight did you lose in the first month?
I lost 20 lbs at first but then gained back 3 lbs during week 3 when I started back on regular food.
-
Positive results, other than weight loss
I enjoy the energy I have now. Oh, and my hair is longer...not from growing but because the fat on top of my shoulders has decreased!

Bodybugg users report here!
You can wear it on the left arm as long as it is upside down. It states this on the bodybugg website.

post op... how long before resuming moderate exercise?
7 days before I was walking 1-2 miles. 3 weeks for intense exercise classes.
-
Exercise
I do. I found that it really helps with the weight loss. For me, the weight was harder to lose, so the exercise definitely boosts it. I exercise 6 days a week for 1-2 hours each day.

This is our 7th month!
Can you believe it has been 7 months already?! It has been harder than I thought it would be, but the results are worth it! Some of my NSV's are being able to wear clothes in the teen sizes again and I started running. How is everyone else doing?

Petrified
Hey kalipso, I know it is a scary time, but you will get through it. You will have to find other things to replace your binges. Take up a new hobby and when you feel a binge, do that instead of bingeing. Also, deal with the emotion you are feeling that is making you want to binge. Recognizing the emotion I was having has helped me a lot. Before I didn't realize why I was doing it, but now I ask myself what I am "feeling" and realize that I was trying to stuff my emotions with food. You are going to do great. Surgery will be fine. You can do this!!

Will I be the one for whom the band doesn't work?
3-5 bites?! I thought it was like 1/2 cup of food?

Symptoms of a flipped port?
Yeah, the biggest indicator is that they can't access it for fills. They couldn't access mine, put me under x-ray and found that it flipped over. I hope you don't have to have surgery to fix it...it was a definite demotivator for me and stopped my weight loss until I got it fixed.

POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
7 months out and I finally voted for 7.5 cc's. I have really good restriction right now although I was too tight at first. I think this is perfect bc I don't get hungry and a very small amount fills me up.

Anyone wear skirts now but didn't before??
I used to wear skirts all the time, but then when I got heavier I stopped bc they were too uncomfortable. I started to wear them again now and I love them!

Twinges
I think what you are describing is what is often referred to as "zingers". It might be like a little jolt of pain/uncomfortableness. I had this for up to 8 weeks post op and then they stopped. It has to do with nerves/muscle.

Dr. John Marsden??
Yeah he is good. He is a very good surgeon, that's why I chose him. He is part of the LBS/AIGB/True Results network and all after care is handled through them instead of him.

Pin up Shoto Shoot??
Holy moly you look awesome! I love your pic on the banner.... so much better than the apple girl!

birthday
Yesterday was my birthday. We did a lot of stuff that wasn't focused around food. We went to a musuem, shopping. Oh and the day before I gave myself a good 2.5 hour workout as a birthday present.

Freaking out a little (clothing purge)
I have the same stress of parting with my clothes. I love my clothes...took great care in making perfect outfits and knew exactly what to wear when I wanted to look good. It's no surprise this is happening to you as it is many of us!

Does it hurt?
Yeah, it hurts. It's major surgery :rolleyes2: But, it's not THAT bad. You will be on pain meds and sleep a lot. After day 3 -5 post op is when I was really feeling better. Most of my pain was in the port area from the muscle. It was hard to sit down, get up (Anything that uses ab muscles). I haven't had a baby yet, so I can't compare birth to the surgery experience :smile2:
