Hey!You girls are so right. I haven't even gotten my band yet,but I'm trying really hard to make better food choices. Last night my husband just pissed me off. He ask would I make him a grilled cheese sandwich and I told him yes but I had to make it with wheat bread cause thats all we had. He yells wheat bread YUCK!! I turned around and pointed my fingure at him and said "YEAH WHEAT BREAD AND YA BETTER GET USE TO IT CAUSE YOUR COOKIES AND ICECREAM ARE GOING NEXT. HE LOOKED AT ME SO FUNNY. He could stand to lose about 30 pounds himself and he never has had to deal with weight issues before. I don't think he does this intentionally but I feel like he better get ready to kick a few of his old eating habits when I get this band. I 'm hoping once he see's me going through all of this he will think about what hes eating. He has seen me struggle diet after diet and he has alawys been supportive of me but never really has watched what he eats. Now that his weight is catching up with him I hope he will see how hard it is to lose and get even more supportive of my efforts. I do all of the grocery shopping so I figure if i don't buy it then it wont be in the cabinet calling to my stomach!

Welcome Missy Glad you posted. I haven't been banded yet so I can't give any advice on what your going through. I have heard that you don't have restriction till you get a fill.Wish you lots of luck and write again soon.

Rachel I wish you lots of luck ! I 'm sure this is hard for you being this close to your surgery date ,but I believe after the surgery you will be glad it is over and that you have started this new lifetime journey to a healthier you! Good luck!

Hey Jonathon I'm just now finding your thread myself. I so sorry that you have had such a long recovery. I 'm glad to hear things are getting a little better. I know your wife has been a big help and given lots of support for you . Its nice to know you are loved. That feeling alone will help you heal!

I was wondering if this was a test everyone had before getting banded. So far this hasn't been something they have told me to get done.

You all are so right! I just want to get to a healthy weight and what ever that is time will tell and I will know it when I get there. No matter how much you all lose, just remember you have all changed my life already. You are always here to listen and give good advise. I am a better person because of each and every one of you. I have learned so much from you all that I will not be blindfolded through the rest of my life with my band . I know help is right here.

Vinesqueen, I am so with you on everything your feeling right now. I think we are having feelings that are pretty normal at this point . We are trying to be positive,but yet that is really hard when nothing else has worked long term before. So..... we just gotta take that step and give it all we got and that will have to be good enough. I keep wondering if I'm really ready for what lies ahead after banding, and the thing is we just don't know...I am telling myself take it one day at a time and it will get a little easier with each day and we will cope with the changes as they come. We can only have hope that we will get what we want and that is to be healthy. It will be hard and the journey will be long and that is what we want (LONG TERM RESULTS) . IT HAS HELPED SO MANY. IT WILL WORK FOR US!!!

Blossom I can really relate to the window view. I was walking with a friend down the side walk the other day and I noticed how fat I looked in the window and I just sighed and Told my friend that I couldn't wait to get my band .....and so I wait. Maybe by Christmas when I'm shopping I'll like the view in the store window alot better!

Darcy it sounds like to me you are really getting to the root of why you eat and you are doing good dealing with it. I can't wait to get my band and I hope it will help me as much as yours has helped you!

Well my Dr. showed me a port when I went for my first consultation and was very good to tell me all about its function. Yours should do the same and this should help you understand it better.I would do a search on lapband on the internet and there are some I've come across that shows videos of what the band looks like and how they put it around your stomach. Do as much research as you can before you make this decision. Lots of good info here and please go look and read some of the older threads lots of similar questions you will be asking . But doing a search will get you alot of basics on the procedure its self.
