Hi, Im a 49 yr old male that was sleeved in Detroit Mi. on February 3rd, 2014. HW 426 lbs, SW 380 lbs, CW 308 lbs.( 118 lbs gone FOREVER) Its been an incredible trip so far and I am looking forward for summer.A few things that have happened since my surgery: Im off of 4 meds so far, My BP is now normal. My BMI is down 17.1 pts since December of 2013. I have lost 34 inches from my body and hoping to pack my CPAP unit away. The coolest is talking to pre-op and post op pts at the hospital I work at. To tell them my story and show them how their life will be changed for the better is awesome. Life is really good now. Happy man here !!

Dr. Carlin is awesome. He sleeved both the wife and I. My wife just had her Surgiversary and is down 120 lbs. I am 16 weeks post-op and down 71 lbs sine 2/3/14 and 119 lbs since mid December 2013. Its an incredible journey you are about to take. Your life will change for ever...all for the better. Life is awesome now. Good luck
We will be looking to see you at the support meetings the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. Ask Wanda about the time and location.

I'm a 39 year old wife and mother HW 299 CW 287 I'm scheduled for June 23. Due to my BMI I didn't have to jump through a lot of hoops. It's great how supportive the group is. Dr Carlin out of Henry Ford Hospital Detroit.

Disappointed at the lack of knowledge of some medical professionals!!! Went to the hospital yesterday cause I got myself dehydrated again. I had to explain to 3 diff nurses and my doctor that the "sleeve" is not the band.. Everytime they asked a question it was band related and I'm like .. I do not have the band.. I finally found a diagram photo of the sleeve procedure on my iphone and just showed them that.... Seriously people???!!!!!

Omg! So, I bought a pair of Jean capris from old navy todsy. Size 18! I didn't even think a 20 would fit, but they were too big. Wooo! I haven't been able to walk in and buy jeans from old navy in probably 6+ years. I went from a 28/30 to an 18 so far!

No way could I have held myself back from asking the obvious! You have way more self control than I! Maybe the next time you see her (she'll be even thinner next time, of course!) you could ask her what program she's following. She's probably dying to talk with you about it, too! I have to say I love to talk about my great experience with my sleeve, especially with folks who have some type of connection to it...

Today I was at a community party with lots of yummy food. I prepared my typical plate, you know, the plate with tablespoons of food dotted around it (90% plate and 10% food). As I started to eat, a very nice lady I knew sat down with me. Last time i saw her was November and she was considerably bigger then. Today she was heavy, but not really really heavy like before. She immediately commented on how thin i looked, and I responded in kind. She had lost 70 lbs since November, Hmmmm i'm thinking.....
So here is the interesting thing....her plate looked just like mine!
I did not want to ask her and be rude, but i was mighty curious!

I still eat good food. I still eat a cheeseburger with no bread though I eat a little bit of fries here and there. I just don't drink soda & you know what I don't miss it. I still eat sugar but SF or no sugar added. no regrets I love my sleeve

BWaltD reacted to Vixynne in When do you know that youre full?
I was sleeved in July of 2013, and I still get the slight hiccup and sniffly nose as "slow down, you're getting full" signals. They're pretty reliable for me. I've found that if I don't listen to them, I'll be sorry, LOL.
If what I'm eating has a high level of sugar or sugar alcohols, queasiness is a strong "STOP EATING THIS NOW" signal for me. In the early post-op days, I almost never felt hungry at all, so knowing when I was full was tricky--I always felt kind of the same, whether I had sipped or not! Once the swelling in your new sleeve goes down a little more, you'll get a really good sense of your own personal signals.

Yes, it has metal plates that you stand on with bare feet. I don't know how accurate it is but it seems very consistent and in line with my progress. I just thought it was cool!

I'm 4 mos out on Mon and still can't do scrambled or boiled eggs. I'm jealous! 23 lbs is great keep up the good work. I still mainly live off of deli shaved ham, cheeses, cottage cheese, dannon light&fit Greek yogurt and chicken and real cheeseburgers. I do eat kashi Protein Cereal with Braums 1% milk and it hasn't seemed to slow down my loss. Down 57lbs since sleeve! Can't wait until summer weather!

Monitor your bp. I'm 7.5 weeks out and already off my meds. I stopped the last 5mg myself for the same reason. My bp was 115/73 on 5mg lisinopril and I kept getting dizzy upon standing. Without the meds I'm fine.
