  1. I assume being thin is cheaper than being addicted to food. I've had times I spent my last $40 on a steak dinner at the Japanese hibachi place. I estimate for my family of 5 we spend $100 a week eating out and then about $150 on groceries. How have your costs been reduced since being sleeved?
  2. Can you buy premier protein anywhere besides Costco? I don't have one around here
  3. Tastes like ****. All I can taste is the artificial sweetener. What's a better, less fake tasting option?
  4. Today I stepped on the scale and it read 285.8. Never again will it be that high. Today I start my pre preop diet. 40-45 grams of carbs. No refined sugars, no pop. Then in a few weeks I will begin the liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery. I'm really hoping that I can go into surgery weighing 265 or less. Regardless of the number, today is the day I begin to take charge. From now on my pants will never be tighter than the last time I put them on. Today I begin winning the battle! Who's with me?
  5. This is discouraging. How far out are u guys
  6. She is an adult, not a little girl. But I know what u mean. My kids are healthy weights. I've made it quite a priority. Now it's my turn Also in regards to my friend, I know she wasn't meaning anything bad. She has never been far so she has no idea how many emotions were involved in my decision.
  7. Pushed send to soon. But this is why. I'm taking control. I'm not letting it control me anymore. I'm not struggling all week to be so good and then gorging myself on the weekend and starting over on Monday. This is why. Thank you cute chunky girl. I hope you can find a way to win too.
  8. Walked into my best friends sons birthday party today..she says loudly "can you still eat food cuz there's tons of pizza!?" Then explains to everyone soon ill be going in a liquid diet for my bariatric surgery. Lots of awkward silence followed, with one particular cute but chunky girl looking extra horrified. I was pissed that my friend put me on the spot. But then.. Aforementioned cute chunky girl stares at the cake. She wants some so badly. My friend tells her just eat a damn piece of cake. She declines. Stares at the cake for an hour. She can't have any cuz she's on a diet. Another hour passes. Shes shaking she wants it so bad.She eats a small piece of cake. And then a big one. And then 4 slices of pizza and bread and pop. My friend says "dont come crying to me when the scale pisses you off Monday." Cute chunky girl says "I know but I have to start all over Monday anyway cuz tomorrow is Joe's Crab Shack and I'm not dieting there." Ah. It hits me. This is why I'm doing it. I want to hug her and tell her I know. I've had so many start over Mondays, sister. I was once the cute chunky girl with 40 lbs to lose. I've dieted my way up to the morbidly obese girl with an extremely messed up relationship with food.
  9. I get hangry too. I am really hoping that ill lose that feeling when 3/4 of my tummy is gone.
  10. Kelsey is this you?? If not I have a friend with the same surgery date going through the same thing.
  11. I think it's long too. I've had cystic fibrosis testing sheer they grow my DNA in a dish and that didn't even take two weeks. Blah.
  12. Gahhhhh. Why does everything take so long?! I quit smoking over a year ago. This is the very last thing before I'm boarded for surgery. Damn damn damn. Why does it take 2 weeks for results? Just a vent.
  13. For example, I really would prefer my surgeon to place a suture into the sleeve and underlying tissue to prevent stricture. Is it inappropriate to ask about technique. As an RN I'm used to pissing doctors off..however I don't think I want my surgeon mad at me when he's operating lol. Also I'm concerned about residents..as in I don't want them touching me. They can observe and take part verbally but I don't want them hands on. Did anyone else feel this way? I don't even know how to go about requesting it. Thanks!
  14. So happy to find this!! My surgeon said hell no, but I assume its because he's not educated on the topic.
  15. I would say lying is probably never the best option
  16. I guess I'll talk to my ped and my surgeon some more. I thought I wouldn't mind stopping but I'm starting to feel very guilty.
  17. Hmm. Does he know Ketosis is EXTREMELY hard on your kidneys? Those Ketosis strips you pee on are not meant to tell you if you're losing weight. They're made for kidney patients and diabetics. He is doing catostrophic damage to his kidneys by staying in Ketosis long term.
  18. Well they're both very important in different ways. I just don't see why I have to choose
  19. I will be having surgery at the end of the month..my baby will be 5 months old. She loves boobies. I feel like such a bad mom for stopping nursing to have surgery. And now that I think about it more, why do I have to? She does it mostly as a comfort measure. She gets formula while I'm at work. So her nutrition won't suffer. I'm probably the only person to ever have this problem, but I'm looking for advice from other Moms. Should I postpone surgery? Wean my baby? Or just get surgery and keep nursing. My surgeon looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked and told me to stop because I need to focus on my own nutrition.
