I simply tell people that I've gone to a doctor (truth), I'm eating high protein/low carb (truth), exercising more (truth) and that I've cut out the "bad" stuff from my diet (SO TRUE!! I cut out my tummy!).

I have learned in my 64 years to not let what you want stop you from enjoying what you have.
When I started on this journey at 340 pounds I wanted washboard abs. Now that I am past goal and 210 pounds I have them.
Unfortunately, there is a little fat and the remnants of my deflated beachball stomach skin covering them.
Top part, saggy pecs but still not too bad:
    Bottom part...whoops..
But how about my life? What I can do now... all day... would have literally killed me in 15 minutes before I lost the fat.
My prospects of living longer are much brighter. I am a much happier person to be around. I feel like I have come out of a long, dark, foggy nightmare.
Will I ever see the six pack? Probably not. Don't have the green to make the plastics scene. Will I enjoy my life anyway. Durn tootin'!!
Perfect is out of my reach but pretty darn good looks pretty darn good.

I have the same issue! My Nut and surgeon contradict each other all the time! Even the paperwork they hand out does! You can get sample diets online that I have used as a guide.
I am still on liquid and yesterday surgeon said not to worry about fat and carbs for at least 6 weeks!
    Good luck

I purchased cases of Protein shakes.... Don't do that- your taste will change!
Some things that were very helpful were:
    liquid Children's Tynol
    chewable Gas-x
Smart Water. (Don't know why was easier on my tummy)
    Small Strainer
    Flushable Wipes
Good Luck! Please don't worry too much I fretted and fretted and it really was not a huge deal...

I was sleeved Aug. 27. A week ago today, I couldn't sleep a wink the night before and truth be told almost bailed.... It was no where near as bad as I thought. You will be okay! Just remember afterwards walk as soon as you are able to. I think it made a great difference. Today I would not believe I had surgery if it wasn't for the stitches on my tummy and the 12lbs weight loss in a week! Good luck sending positive thoughts!

nervousnelly reacted to BlueClementine in 14 days out and wow! What an experience
Today is 14 days post op, and this is my first post since surgery.
8/20 I was the last patient of the day scheduled at 5:30, didn't go in until 7:30. When I woke up the only thing I could feel was fire. I was expecting pain, but it literally felt like my insides were on fire. Not pleasant. It was a VERY long night, but I managed. I was discharged the next day at noon.
The first 3 days were very rough, pain was bad, gas pains were brutal, my stomach was very inflated and I couldn't get comfortable to save my life. Forget laying down flat. The pain in my chest and stomach just trying to swallow Water was excruciating. I managed.
By day 4 the pain was minimal and I was up and about doing normal household things, but I tired easily.
By day 5 I could drink a little better without so much discomfort. But god forbid I take a sip and then laid down. In fact, sometimes the only way I could stand to drink was walking around. Being vertical felt much better than horizontal.
By day 7 the swelling in my stomach was greatly reduced and the pain was gone, except the occasional twinge. I started walking regularly a couple times a day just around the yard and neighborhood, and have tried to stay active, stretching and moving some small weights around with upper body, no problems there. Again, I just tire easily. I've followed the liquid diet to the letter, and week 2 I started full liquids. Soups hurt if I'm not careful. Water goes down easily now. I'm basically living off Protein Shakes and Isopure clear drinks, broth, and the occasional Soup with unflavored Protein added.
I'm never really hungry, but I do know when I need to feed my sleeve - I start to feel slightly nauseous in my tummy or an acid feeling. A little bit of protein, it goes away. Im managing 60-80oz liquids and most days I hit 70-80 grams protien. I am so glad I've done this, but the first week was hard! Harder than I expected and I thought I had a grip on the situation!! lol, the things we tell ourselves....
So I got on the scale today and I'm down 17 pounds. I almost freaked. I re-weighed myself a dozen times, and the number was the same! I also took full body pictures of myself, which I had not yet had the bravery to do.
So today is a great day! I feel really good physically and mentally, I know I'm doing what I'm suppose to, and the weight is coming off. Its a beautiful feeling!!

I was sleeved on 8/21. After 8 days of no BMs, I called my doc about it and he told me to take some milk or magnesia. He said it would push the waste right out of me. I brought some expecting for it to work over night. It worked in less that 30 mins and I dropped 3 lbs to boot (TMI).

I wore a catheter and bag for several weeks during the first part of prostate cancer treatment. I have the utmost compassion for folks who have to wear them all the time. Some folks pay a heavy price just to stay alive. The catheter I wore then was of greater diameter and quite irritating.
The operation catheter was smaller, not a problem.

nervousnelly reacted to stacechase in 2 weeks post-op: I can see it in my face!
Had my 2-week post-op appointment today, and I'm feeling great! Still sore at my two major incision sites (man, I miss sleeping on my stomach!) but besides that, I'm taking multiple-mile walks a day and following the diet prescribed by my surgeon.
He was SUPER impressed with the fact that I've lost 5% of my BMI since the start of this process, woo hoo! I took a new photo of me (and my happy, I've-lost-34-lbs-since-July-26 smile) and loved how much my face has changed since the start of my pre-op diet.
Just wanted to share this small victory, and encourage everyone to follow their surgeon's plan, get plenty of exercise, and remember to stop and enjoy the little victories along the way!
Have a great Labor Day, everyone!

I did reach goal, but it took me 18 months. Hang in there and don't get discouraged. There is no expiry date on the sleeve and for how long we can lose weight. It just might take a little more work than it did in the beginning.

So I had surgery on the 12th, weighing 304, home on the 14th weighing 316. The weight has been dropping and today I'm 299. I haven't been under 300 in over 20 years. It's so strange to see a 2 at the beginning of my weight.
