  1. Welp, there goes my advice about making him beg for it! ah well, neither did i. I gave it up within a week and he is still around! WAY TO GO GIRL!
  2. Many blessings! Congrats! Mine is in a week! Tell us your experience puhhhlease!!! What went well? how did it feel? etc etc etc!
  3. What is the smallest size clothing you have in your closet? I still have a pair of jeans size 9 (i am 18/20) so I think they would fit a thigh if i cut out the crotch!
  4. BUMP! Chat room open!
  5. Megan, I also met my hubby on an online matchmaker site (married 3 years as of 3/8)! Matter of fact, it was match.com also! He is the BEST, KINDEST, MOST GENTLE, LOVING, WONDERFUL man ever! I don't care what people say about internet dating services.... this was the best thing I ever did in my life. Of course, I had to kiss a lot of frogs before getting to my prince but he was worth it! P.S. About your shirt, make him work for it girl!
  6. Christina, SOOOOOOO sorry to hear about the denial! I know you were really counting on it and all the "signs" were going so well! Just know that everything happens for a reason and what doesn't kill ya makes you STRONGERRRRRR! Fight them! I am also a "cusp BMI" at 5'8 1/2" and 221 with a 35 BMI (and rising also). I went throught the process but was denied quickly and swiftly and told to re submit when I gain 40 more pounds or so. HUHHHHH??? I was like... heck with it, I am going to Mexico, paying myself (about the cost of a used car) and be done with it. no more headaches, no more worries, no more stress. For me it was worth it. But I would LOVEEEEEE to see someone fight and win against the insurance companies that are constantly screwing us over anyways! So, YOU GO GIRL... FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! (but just in case, is paying yourself an option? if so, you may want to start doing your research on self pay docs now!) GOOD LUCK GIRLIE! I know everything will come out well for you! Maybe is this a "sign" to go with the TV show??? Jenna
  7. Wow, you are having major facial cosmetic surgery AND the lap band at the same time? WOW! you are one brave girl! Good luck and we are all pulling for ya here!
  8. Well, I am all for free speech but I am also thinking this post is causing some newbies to have wide spread panic about ANY doctor in Mexico or Monterrey. My second point is that LBT does not want anyone discussing prices nor advocating any doctors, although they do come up in conversation, and as I understand talk about doctors should be done in a private forum. Third point is that although he has made his point, he is now "hushed" by the new evidence. Therefore, based on the information given, I think the post should be removed. Just my 2 cents. EDIT: OOPS, I wanted to clarify that I don't think that the thread should be "removed" but I DO think it should be "locked". I apologize to anyone if you thought I was suggesting deletion of the thread. And Dwayne, I am very sorry for all the pain and trouble you have encountered with your band. I hope you have better things to come in the future!
  9. Whoaaaaaaaaa nellie! Wow, the enthusiasm is great but most of us have spent MONTHS if not at least a year in research phase. I spent about 6 months just finding out everything I wanted to know, and some things I didn't want to know ha ha ha. Even when I decided to band I scheduled for 3 months later just to make sure (I now have a week left to wait and the time FLEW by!) Good luck in your journey and your Quest for knowledge, this is a GREAT place to start! The site that really has some good info and links for newbies is http://www.geocities.com/michellojackson/NOT_AT_SWEET-SPOT.html check out all the links and stuff! Another good one is http://www.inamed.com/products/obesity/us/patient/lapband/faq.html A site that gives the entire surgery on video is http://www.obgyn.net/english/pubs/features/roberta-surg/part-4.htm and yet another good one I went to was http://www.sbnsurg.com/lap_band_surgery.htm The important thing to remember (and something I had to grasp within the first month of research) was that the band is NOT gastric bypass and is not a cure but a TOOL to help you keep the weight off that YOU lose by healthy eating, exercise and discipline. GOOD LUCK! Jenna
  10. Crystal!!! Check in soon girl! Hope all is going well! Mine is in a week so let us know how you are doing!!!!!
  11. Well, I am still falling off the "cigarette wagon" a bit but I am down to what I call "halfsies". I smoke a half (3-4 puffs) then put it out. I do this about 2-3 times a day. It starves the headaches off. So all in all I would say it is maybe one cigarette a day equivalent? I still need to put them down all together though. AAAAAARRRRRGH, why can't I just not smoke!! I know this is so important to banding so why can't I do it? I suppose it is good that I have gone from almost a pack a day down to a few puffs a day but geeeeeez, I can't seem to walk away! Dog update: He is still doing well. He is eating more these days now but he is still very sluggish. He has a hard time with the stairs but he wants to sleep in our bedroom at night. He can't get up on the bed at all now though and just sleeps on the floor on his bed.
  12. Wow, that is one cute ass! But it is such a big ass too. I never knew asses were so big. Lisa, do you pet asses often? Do the asses ever bite? I suppose you have to watch those wild asses. And if you feed the ass the wrong thing I suppose it could get even bigger! So glad you shared the picture of you and your ass Lisa. hee hee hee I crack myself up sometimes! Jenna
  13. Son's birthday today. hot dogs and chips.
  14. Noveau means "new" I guess. It is just where I fall on one book's classification list. It is also called Pollo Vegetarian or Semi Vegitarian.
  15. HA HA HA, I told my hubby tonight that I ordered the "magic bullet" online and you wanna know what his response was?????......... u all ready for this?............................ He said, "well we can try it honey, but I didn't think you were into that kind of stuff, is it for me or for you? " OMGGGGG!!! I just looked at him thinking he was kidding! Then he said, "will it hurt?" Then I laughed so hard I think I lost 2 lbs!
  16. For me it is Trading Spaces... Not only does my Living Room need a facelift but my neighbor's spare bedroom needs to be done. Or maybe even While you were Out. I would loveeeeee a chance to gawk at Andrew while using power tools. YUMMMMY!
  17. Tina, I am a class 5 Noveau Vegitarian (also called Pollo Vegetarian or Semi Vegetarian) as well. I do eat tuna, turkey (white meat only) and chicken (white meat only) but I do not eat any red meats or as I call them "funky" meat (duck, rabbit, deer, wild turkey, any animal from a popular disney movie, anything furry and cute, etc etc etc). Nor can ANYTHING be on a bone (including chicken, turkey) I don't eat the "soy" burgers as they LOOK like meat and gross me out. Chicken also has much Protein. I have talked to a nutritionist about the protein issue and she told me that it doesn't have to be "solid" protein just get the protein in your body! Today, I went to Sam's club and purchased a BIG bucket of Protein whey. I will mix them in a yogurt shake. She also said that eggs are a big source of protein as well as many other foods. There was a link that I will borrow from another member who posted that lists protein rich foods.....http://www.highproteinfoods.net/ Hope this helps.... Jenna
  18. Sharon, I am not banded yet, so I am sharing in your frustration as if it were me. I have several points to make on this one. First, no one should EVER have "names" they give to patients as that is EXTREMELY unprofessional. It is kind of like the grade school bully's that would make fun of you if you tripped on the playground and call you "big foot" for weeks or something. Second, I don't care how "busy" the doctor is. If he has no time for you now as you are a pion without insurance approval then will he have time for you when you need him? Third, a scale??? What about if you lost weight but gained muscle? Then what? You could actually have gotten "leaner" but gained weight in muscle mass for gosh sakes! Fourth, I personally am traveling for my surgeon and flying to him. If you live in a major city (or near one) find out where an airline flies regularly to another major city for peanuts on the dollar and start looking there for another surgeon? I think you should feel totally comfy with your surgeon.

LMAO I think he was doing a "test" of posting???
  20. Man, I am sooooo glad I had a boy! Throw him a pair of jeans, a tshirt and his skateboard or bike and he is happy as a clam!
  21. I admit it. I put French dressing over my cottage cheese. (got in this habit when I was pregnant and it has stuck)
  22. OH MY WORDDDDDDDDD, ((and all those other pseduo cuss words))!!!!!!! I am not fainting yet as of course, being the cop in me, I enjoy some of the wierder things in life I guess. I have seen much worse wounds in car accidents (read: wear your seatbelts and wear a helmet while on a motorcycle). Oh lisaaaaaaaaaa! Does it hurt her at all? Can she wear pants or does she have to live in the long dress type outfits till this heals? Why keep the band after all this time? She sure is hell bent on keeping this band! I have to admit with 13 more days to go, I am scared this will happen to meeeeee! Please take care Lisa! (relay the message Penni) (((((((HUGS))))))) Jenna
  23. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! Congrats!!!! Ahhh, yet another "princess" in the making, I love it!
  24. I too have my surgery with Dr. Ortiz in 12 days (woot!) and I am a non insurance covered. Although, my opinion was to heck with all the waiting, red tape, and forms for the US insurance. My only consolation is that with the doctors receipt it is tax deductable even though I didn't get it in the US.
  25. Let me know where you find the best smartspin for the best price. I want this too! PM me if you think about it k? Thanks!
