Compliment Chain
BigPaul always makes me feel really good about myself. He's funny and silly but really smart right when you need him to be. DeLarla TellyMelly keeps me motivated on days I think I want to slack and theres always a smile on my face when I'm talking to her, she just keeps me laughing. She brightens my day! Cutiern reminds me of my daughter. I love how she is young, independent, and willing to make financial sacrifices to change her life. Dawg is a great husband. Selfless and supportive. He lives a banded lifestyle, without the band, so that he may succeed along side his wife. Pennie always seems so level-headed and diplomatic. I really admire that. Jack cracks me up with the use of his warped sense of humour in the manner in which he offers practical advice. Humour and practicalilty...great match and I always appreciate his input. (I also like his avatar!!) The best me (Kathy) has one of the most loving and tender hearts I've ever seen. She is always caring and giving to others even when she's needing support for herself. Her love of God and her desire to be a better servant shows in every post. Paula is my sweet Band-daughter and I'm so proud of how genuinely sweet she is and how her caring heart and love of God shows by her actions towards all others Iluvharleys has a good heart and is always so thoughtful, kind and caring always thinking of others in their time of need. NJChick (Eileen) Cracks me up!!!! She brings a smile to my face no matter what the topic. Bandland would be a boring place without her : - ) VinesQueen reminds me never to give up no matter how bad things seem at the time and encourages me that I should dance my heart out no matter whos watching~and I wish she would hurry up and get back on LBT!!! Michelle, without a doubt the most inspirational person to me. Even while having her own family problems, she finds time to come here and offer her help. She's a great person! Susan (PhotoNut) is one of the most supportive and knowledgeable people I've ever known. EmileeKaye is the sweetest, most genuinely nice and wholehearted bandster and online personality I have ever met.. and I have met quite a few. The sun shines on her goodness and it feels really nice to surround myself with people like this. K@t has been my friend and support since the moment I joined this group. She listens and gives without asking in return and makes me feel anything is possible. DeLarla is my vision of independence, strength, wisdom and trust and has always been a person that speaks her mind and has gained a tremendous amount of respect from me as an intelligent and witty person.

How much do you pay for gas? (in your car)
$2.89 - $3.06 here in Phoenix area. To find the cheapest gas in your area.... go here... I love this site!!! http://www.gasbuddy.com/

Dr. Grossbard self pay
Make sure if you are planning to be banded in Mexico and go to Dr. G in Florida you clear that AHEAD of time with him. Many bandsters have done the same and he refused them as patients. Sure is funny that if you really wanted Dr. G you could have the surgery in CanCun for $13000 and a swanky pad for a week yet he charges double for the states?

MySpace.com?
It is truly scarey the amount of information I can tell about some of your blogs and pages. I have looked through a few and just at a glance I bet that I could meet you within a day and not ever talk to you beforehand. I am not condemning anyone but I want everyone to be VERY aware of the type of information you are sending out there. I love each and every one of you and I only wish for you and your family to be safe.

MySpace.com?
My Space is a hot topic among law enforcement. Seems that the personal information encryption has something wrong with it. Crafty sex predators have been known to surf and find victims this way. Although some computer minded predators can get your information through the computer that you log into myspace from, or at least the address of origin, there are a few recommendations from law enforcement if you choose to use this space. 1. NEVER put personal information that may lead predators to you. 2. Refrain from placing childrens photos on the site. Photos can "capture" the eye of predators and create a relationship for them. Also, clear photos can be digitally mastered to be used in child porn. It may not be your child's body, but it very well could be their face. Predators look for the right poses or expressions facially. 3. In blogs, be aware of what information you are sharing. If you just broke up with a boyfriend, met a new boyfriend, your dog died (i.e. no protection for the house) 4. Never divulge your full name online. Especially for children using myspace.... 1. Let your parents know you have the space and let them look at it often for content. 2. Be aware of giving out information, especially in blogs. If you say once that the leaves are changing and are beautiful in North Carolina... then later you state that you are busy with cheerleading practice every day after school but hate the school colors of blue and white.... then you get mad at your mom because she was late picking you up from school and you had to walk home... then later you mention that your team, the "Pirates", won their game.... then later again you say that you have hurt your ankle..... You have given a predator everything they need to know to find you. 3. Limit the type and amount of pictures. We all know that you want to be "grown up" but try and keep any pictures that could be construed as inviting OFF the site.

Gotta ask this sex question....
I waited 6 weeks for it just to make sure. Then, all was fair and the circus was on!

Mexico or close to home?
There are other options besides Mexico and US. Many people travel to Europe, Belgium, etc to get banded. If you are on the far eastcoast, then maybe go more east?

Does the weather affect your band??
I live in Arizona where it gets even HOTTER (although it is a dry not wet heat) and I only notice that my energy levels for exercising go way down. I do notice I drink a ton more water, therefore I am not nearly hungry much and I eat a lot less, but I don't notice any difference in restriction.

Cute Kitties and other Pets
Well, I had to (find) and share our other family piece. This is Bettis (named after Pitts Steelers Jerome Bettis). He is an awesome dog. He is so funny and very friendly. I don't think he has a mean bone in his body! He loves everyone!

Feeling guilty pre-op
I felt very guilty especially because I was a lower BMI and others who were bigger than me would say "I would kill to be your size, blah blah blah" So in the beginning I felt as if I should have embraced the dieting harder, exercised more, ate better foods, etc etc.... I felt really guilty.... until I started to lose the weight. Then... to hell with the rest of them, this was about ME, not them!!

Still Sore and Hurting after 4 weeks? Normal?
Yep, I had this too for several months after surgery. Kind of a wierd "ghost" type stinging sore sensation. Try leaning into a pillow to take the pressure off of it. Helped me quite a bit.

I'm new here and I don't get it!!
a fill does not have to be surgeon specific. Any qualified doctor can fill the band or unfill the band. Sometimes surgeons have packages though that include your follow up care. If you were banded in another country other than US, finding a US doctor to fill can be a bit of a challenge but there are doctors that will and clinics all over the country like "fill centers usa". If you are banded in the US I would think it will be very easy to find a doctor to do your follow up and fills if you choose to go to another doctor.

Taking Suggestions for NEW LBT Features!
I feel dumb. All this time at LBT and I never knew there was a calendar!! DUH!
-
any other az bandster's?
Yep, Arizona here too. I live in Surprise (NW valley of PHX). I am moving in 2 months to Show Low though. Gets me closer to Terri though and we can party it up!! I am going to expect her to keep me sane with the new "country" digs. I use Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana for my fills. Its a nice little mini vacation and costs about the same as getting one here. I don't know how tall you are, but I was also 225 when I had my surgery. My stats are listed below.

Weight Training-help Or Hindrance?
For me and my body frame, cardio works the best. If I was to do weight training I add bulk and size and will look like a hefty linebacker. Just doesn't work for me. I think it all depends on how your body is shaped and puts on muscle.

What is the best thing about your weight loss?
The best thing for me has been being able to use a portapotty at the camping grounds without worrying that it is going to fall over if I shift around too much. Another great thing was when someone who hadn't seen me in over a year asked me, "wow, what happened to the other half of you?" Made me giggle.

home...uuugggghhhhhhh
K@t, Try using an electric heating pad on really low. That takes some of the soreness and sting out of the incisions and surgery pain.
-
Self-pay Anyone???
I paid $9,500 for Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana, Mexico.

Taking Suggestions for NEW LBT Features!
Well, since this is a wish list.... A food journaling/tracking guide LBT calender of events (so that members can put in their band dates, bandiverseries and other events) Pen pal set up (I know we did one on a thread but never heard from my pen pal) Have a limit as to the length of a signature line (maximum number of characters) because some people have taken the signature lines to extremes I love the photo gallery idea for before/afters A Teens only forum. A place they can call their own as well as contributing to the entire board. A way to attach pictures easily in PM's

home...uuugggghhhhhhh
It will all be over in a snap. And the pain is so worth it. Yes, it is uncomfy now, but it only lasts a few days. Keep your chin up and keep on walking to get rid of the gasses.

NOW What???
Who says your mothering days have to be over??? You have obviously done a fantastic job with your boys, why not share that love with other children that need guidance and love? Foster parenting is a way that you can do that. Especially, there are a lot of older school age children that will never be adopted and need foster care. With foster care, you can limit what type of children you accept. So it isn't like you are going to get a delinquent but you can choose the "unwanted" category that just have crappy parents, but are really great kids. Why not try it???
