1. I didn't actually do it, but I've sure thought about it! Right now (week 5) I couldn't get down pizza or steak but chewing it sounds really good. Be strong
2. That happened to me when I lost a ton of weight 10 years ago. Always cold. I took lots of hot baths and always wore socks.
3. I could do that too. When you get to soft foods and solids it changes.
4. I eat both kinds of cheese and have kept calories low. After all, you really can't eat that much (not like before when I would put away 1/4 lb in 15 minutes). I love cheese. Good source of calcium, too. Remember that hard cheese has lower calories than soft or semisoft cheese if you are worried. Just keep it to an ounce at a time.
5. Hope you are feeling better now!
6. Me too. It goes away if I eat. Doesn't feel like hunger, but it is rather unpleasant. I find myself eating too fast when i'm like this, too, so I have to pay attention and slow down or I make myself sick.
7. I just use one at a time, didn't know about doubling them up. Not too expensive. I think we got them at Walgreens.
8. So no hair loss yet, but the other day I noticed that I was due to color my hair, which normally grows fast, and i had no roots after 6 weeks. Got it colored last right before my surgery. Weird! This happen to anyone else? Is this the precursor to hair falling out?
9. Yes, the GasX strips have been a life saver. So glad to know about the fiber requirement based on caloric intake. I eat beans and also just started varying my protein shakes with hemp seed high fiber protein powder. That gives me fiber and a good alternative to whey protein.
10. I've heard that in Europe the doctors don't believe in protein shakes and put you on solid food as soon as you can take it. For me, I just followed my doctor's orders and all has been well, other than being sick of protein drinks. Wy jinx a good thing? I figure my doctor and nut know more about this than info. Tomorrow is 6 weeks. I'm soooo glad to be past the first month. I still find that softer foods like fish and cottage cheese sit better. Unfortunately, avocados do too!
11. I had shrimp, tuna and other fish at 3 weeks with no problem.
12. Yes, your chart is similar to mine. I set my goal for 800 but rarely even come close. I have noticed that this last week (week 5) my avg calories have gone up from 500 a day to around 650 a day. I can eat more things now, but still can't get in veggies or carbs other than an occasional tiny bite at the end of my protein.
13. I had them a lot early on. At 4 weeks I still get every few days.
14. Green tea in the mornings for me, too. After dinner it's chamomile and peppermint to settle me before bed.
15. I'm bad . I ate some pistachios a few days ago (4 weeks). They are soft and I chewed them well. No problems at all. I wouldn't be so brave about almonds or other hard nuts, though. Will wait a bit for those.
16. I've drunk coffee for 35 years. Been off of it this past month since surgery. Tried decaf three times over the past week and each time I ended up not drinking it because it tasted nasty to me. This was at three different places, too. What things have you lost your taste for?
17. I had sashimi this weekend. Heaven! Went down easily, but could only eat 2 of the 5 pieces (largish pieces).
18. Today I tried a couple of drops of cinnamon oil to my chocolate shake and wow! The sharpness of the cinnamon overpowers the nasty gummy protein quality, but don't use more than a drop or two in an eight ounce cup. Use true cinnamon oil, not ground cinnamon. Yummy!
19. Welcome to Onederland! Congratulations!
20. This is such an interesting topic. I do eat out, but I usually share an entree with my DH or sons. They love that because I eat about 2-3 tablespoons and they finish the rest. I also like ordering appetizers or side dishes. One or two poached eggs ala carte works for me. Olive Garden has a newish "small plates" menu with a grilled chicken skewer that's around $3 or $4 and is perfect for a sleever (I still can only eat half of it at 4 weeks, but that's much better than wasting a whole dinner plate).
21. Size 16 jeans. Can't remember last time I wore them.
22. Dresses and "butterfly" tops work for me. Pants with drawstring waist. And thrift shops.
