Nuts, seeds, berries, greens

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody.. I was sleeved a little over a month ago in Mexico.. Didn't receive a very clear diet plan... Can anyone tell me when we are able to start eating nuts, seeds, berries and leafy greens? I am unable to stomach Protein Shakes, but before surgery, i made a shake containing all kinds of nutrients and some Protein in my Nutri Bullet.. I'd appreciate any advice! Thank you!

We were told no nuts, seeds or popcorn until we are 6 months out.

I was allowed solid foods after 4 weeks - no restrictions. But I would advise you to eat only a teaspoon full or less and wait 5 minutes when trying a new food. I learned the hard way that my stomach didn't like some of the tougher to digest foods like chicken and fibrous vegetables for the 1st 2 months. Anything with a peel like grapes/apples or fibrous like pineapples/oranges are tough to digest and at 8 months, I still get a few grumbles from Frankensleeve

I was told no nuts, seeds, raw veggies, raw fruits, bread, rice, Pasta till week 8. Then I can eat whatever I want. They suggest that I eat very little of the bread, rice, Pasta tho.

I cheated last nite (I'm 6 weeks out) and ate my Avo Cobbo salad at Red Robin. Ate about 6 bites and packed it up and brought it home. Was waiting for my stomach to cramp but it never did. Luv my salads from Red Robin!

No nuts, seeds or berries for 6 weeks on my plan, then added in as tolerated. I waited until 8 weeks for nuts and popcorn. No bad effects from either for me. I tolerate most food well, but I don't overdo it with the fibrous foods either.

I'm a year an a half out and rice still gets me. popcorn is out but I'm prone to diverticulitis so I avoid it anyway. Nuts, seeds, berries present no difficulty as long as I chew them well and eat slowly.

To be safe the 6-8 week wait is a good idea.

Thank you all! Everybody's plans are so different! Not quite sure what to do, wish I had a more supportive post-op support team from where I had surgery..

I'm headed to mexico for my surgery. Where did you Go? Do they have any post-op protocols or someone you can contact with your current concerns? Did they have you speak with a nutritionist pre-op to clarify vegetarian options?

I'm bad :o. I ate some pistachios a few days ago (4 weeks). They are soft and I chewed them well. No problems at all. I wouldn't be so brave about almonds or other hard nuts, though. Will wait a bit for those.

I'm a movie buff and can't wait for 8 weeks to try popcorn. Hopefully, it still tastes good and stays down. I'll limit myself to a cup vs a bag the old me would have had!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
