Who started pureed foods during week 1 or 2?
I agree. Follow your doctor's orders talk to them and explain your situation. I was allowed purees week 2, but it doesn't help the weakness. You just can't get much down, maybe a few ounces. Try Beneprotein - 3 scoops or 4 can be mixed with 4 oz. of liquid, which is a relatively small amount to choke down. Add flavoring though.

Did anyone ask for their stomach to take home?

Pumpkin recipes
Cut up a fresh pumpkin in quarters and reserve the seeds. Wrap in plastic wrap and microwave on high for 8-10 minutes until soft. Let it cool and scrape it out of the shell. You can now do several things: Soup, crustless pie, soufflé . Soup: 1 quart vegetable or chicken broth 1tsp dried sage 1/2 onion minced 1 tbl olive oil 1 tsp dried thyme 1 apple, peeled, cored and chopped Pumpkin you just cooked or 1 can unsweetened pumpkin Salt and pepper to taste Sauté the onion until transparent. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer until the apple is soft. Use a blender or immersion blender to purée the soup. Taste and adjust salt and pepper.

Seeds and fresh fruit
I was sleeved August 12. At 3 weeks I was allowed soft foods, including soft cooked veggies, and I've eaten them with no problem. Seeds and peels were a no no during this period. When I get to 4 weeks the dr said I could try anything, but I'm nervous about seeds and nuts, celery and asparagus - anything fibrous or seedy or hard. I sure don't want a blockage.

Back to work in 4 days
Good lord, I had to go back after a week and it almost killed me. However, I was able to get off pain meds after the hospital. Only used Tylenol after that. Good luck with that and remember your body is healing after major surgery. Be kind to it.

I can't eat without puking
Honey, call your dr first thing Monday morning. This sort of thing needs medical attention. Good luck!

Im genuinely struggling, and im surprised I havent gotten a leak yet.
Robo, I'm so proud of you for talking to a therapist. Don't give up on yourself. Get back to basics and stick with the program. I hate the protein shakes, too, but you gotta do it. There is this magical 6 month window after surgery when it is the easiest to lose weight. You can still lose later, but not like you can in the first few months. Don't waste it! 1) Get your protein down first and get enough 2) Get your 8 glasses of water down and don't drink during meals 3) Keep off of carbs and crap - you can do this! 4) Walk a little every day, even 15 minutes. Just get up and move. We are cheering for you. Get back on track, and you'll feel so proud of yourself. Good luck!

I had heard about the third week stall
There are tons of posts on this you should search and some very good explanations of why it occurs. Be strong! I'm with you (sleeved 8/12) and we'll make it through. You can do it

Greek Yogurt
Fat free and sugar free. There are a ton of brands. Also try Icelandic yogurt at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, it's even higher protein than Greek.

Feeling full!
I'm finding it really unpleasant. I used to look forward to meals and now I just want to skip them. Feeling full is so icky now.

NSV shout outs
- Breath?
My dr recommended Listerine strips and they really do help. Ketosis breath is just nasty, I agree.- So discouraged
Chin up and back on track, you'll be fine. It's just the dreaded stall that most people go through. It will end eventually, just be strong. You can do it!- Meal ideas
I was sleeved the 12th too, just started on soft foods and I've made plenty of mistakes! When I make a mistake, it either comes right back up and/or I'm miserable for an hour. Stuff that worked: Tuna salad Quail (make sure it's moist) Cottage cheese and yogurt Sweet potatoes Soft cooked cabbage Soft cooked carrots Seafood (haddock, catfish, shrimp, tilapia, it's all good) Beans, refried, mashed, whole, puréed etc Snow cones with sugar free syrup (a blessing on a hot day) Not so good: Cheesy Soups Melted cheese Soft Cooked spinach Soft Cooked broccoli Mashed white potato Good luck!- Not losing after VSG any advice?
- Holiday NOT the end of anything! Keep up or renew your efforts! (((big hugs to all))
Mmmm Blue Bell.... Rainbow sherbet 2 oz only 50 calories ....- NSV sort of
I'm spending Labor Day weekend with DH at a lovely old restored hotel. The mirror in the room is a skinny mirror! It's slightly distorted and makes me look 5'9 and 140 lbs instead of 5'4 and 192 LOL. Gives me a glimpse of what the future holds...wish I could take it home with me, but it's screwed to the wall...heehee- New Activities
Volunteering someplace you enjoy (animal shelter, museum, zoo, etc.) is a great way to spend time with friends. I love tea time myself, which is just tea (no food). Game night is always a blast (cards, Scrabble, Monopoly, etc.). Book clubs are good, too.- How do I know fullness?
Believe me, you'll know it! I just started solids a few days ago and have vomited at least once every day because I overdid it, either eating too much or too fast. It's definitely a learning curve.- Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?
Guess I fit into this category, too. Never thought of myself as a lightweight LOL. I think the weight loss could be different for those starting with lower BMI's. I started at 36. I am always in awe of the huge losses I see from people with higher starting BMI's. I've done all the math with my base metabolism, etc. and I can't see how I personally could lose more than 2-3 pounds of fat a week, maybe 10 lbs a month. I'm happy with that, though, the important thing is keeping it off. I'm so hoping this is the LAST time I have go on a diet and the sleeve + good eating habits + exercise will "cure" me for good.- hard day
I sympathize. Full liquids just sucks, but eventually it's over. Baby yourself and pat yourself on the back for being strong. It will end soon and you'll be on to the next step.- Artificial sweetners
I thought I heard somewhere that calorie free sweeteners still raise glycemic levels and your body treats it like a regular sugar except for adding fat. Anyone have any facts on that? - Breath?
