Why you chose the sleeve
I wanted something permanent. I didn't want to go to appointments all the time for readjusting. I didn't want to worry about slips or port flips. And I didn't want to have to get it removed in 3 yrs because of corrosion. I wanted a true lifestyle change that would be for life. Also, I've known to many people who were unsussessful with the band- especially if they have a higher BMI. Of course, this is a very personal desision, and you have to do what's best for you. But I love my sleeve.

convince me to stay off the scale!
I was sleeved on the same day, and I had this issue during week 2. My dr recommended 3 meals a day, but I chose to add a snack and upped my water intake. That seemed to help bc I dropped a few more lbs. I also exercise everyday. And maybe increasing your protein to 60g would be good for you too. And during that time, I literally had to put a sign on the door to the room my scale is in saying "leave the scale alone!" Lol

I'm 3 weeks today and at today's appointment he encouraged me to start swimming. I'll just have to break it to the hubby that he needs to buy me a pool-- Dr's orders!

Really disgusted
Ugg! That must be so aggravating. I've told my friends and most of my coworkers. Everyone has been super supportive. But.. The first person I told was a friend /coworker of mine. I thought he'd be a good first person to tell bc he is quite obese as well and is usually a very positive/ upbeat person. I was shocked and a little crushed when he tried to talk me out of it and had negative comments. But, aside from that, others have been supportive and encouraging (but I have kept it off FB). I just had to remember, although I was sharing this experience, the choice was personal. I didn't share for discussion, I shared out of joy.

Pre-op liquid diet: Always Required?
I was just on clear liquids the day before ; and I had to take 2 bottles of Mag Citrate that evening. Other than that, my doc didn't require any other dieting.

Dont know what to do!
I add a little unflavored protein powder to almost everything I eat. Can you do the same? Is that allowed?

Flavorless Protein? Suggestions plz.
Ok, I've been using unflavored Isopure in my shakes and added to food. But I've discovered unflavored does not equate to flavorless. Lol. It def has a strange flavor, but its not completely noticeable (to me) in stronger flavored foods (ex: Greek yogurt, chicken salad, or even my shakes). But I just added it to applesauce and tasted nothing but the Protein powder. It also taste strange with Beans. ... It's not completely disgusting, but it does change the taste of food. Do y'all have any recommendations for an unflavored Protein powder with a less noticeable taste??

Is this normal?
Well they did stick a pipe in your esophagus 5 days ago. Lol. I think some soreness is ok. As long as its not real pain.

Any one have issues with hot showers post surgery?
I felt faint getting out of the tub yesterday. I had to sit on the edge for awhile before I felt better. It felt, to me anyway, like a blood pressure thing. Our bodies aren't used to this.

BodyWraps
I had a wrap done before my wedding day, and all it does is basically suck water from you. You do look temporarily a few lbs lighter. It was nice for just the day of the wedding BUT... It was kinda relaxing

RECOMMENDED MUST HAVES?
I found small plates, bowls, and utensils to be very helpful. I also used a Ninja blender during puréed phase (I like the cup attachment for shakes), and blender bottles for shakes (the bottles w/ the sphere whisk inside).

Im not ready at all ...
This is a good place to start. Browse through to have an idea of what you'll be eating after, but always follow your DR's plan. Good luck!!! For me, my diet was : Week 1- Clear liquids - sugar free Jello, popsicles, Water, broth Week 2- full liquids- I started Protein shakes this week. I HATED the ones I originally bought, so I switched to Carnation Instant Breakfast no sugar added and I added unflavored Protein powder (isopure) and I had creamy Soups (no potato). Week 3- soft foods- I ate mostly canned tuna, tuna salad, chicken salad, and Greek yogurt Week 4- I'll be starting more solid foods on Tuesday. Basic rules--must drink 64oz a day, must have at least 60g of protein a day.
