Is this normal?

Hi Everyone,

I'm five days post op and when I swallow my chest feels sore. I'm assuming this is my esophagus that is a little irritated. Just wondering if this is part of the healing or should I be concerned. I took the meds for acid reflux...no change. Tried cold water and warm tea and warm soup...no difference. Anyone else experience this?

  • Right? :-) I don't want to over react but I also don't want to ignore something that might be serious. Guess I'll give it a few more days and see if it gets better. Thanks.

Well they did stick a pipe in your esophagus 5 days ago. Lol. I think some soreness is ok. As long as its not real pain.

Also did you have a hiatal hernia repair?

No, they said the surgery went great. No complications. I might be expecting too much.

Im 3 days post op and Ive been having the same problem!!! When I woke up after surgery I sounded like I was having an asthma attack from the panic and the pain. I could barely breathe. The first day after I had chest pains constantly from the gasses and all the soreness but walking really helped relieve them. Now im still a bit sore on my left lung and my throat but each day it gets better. Good luck!
