I was told 4 weeks and even then, they had to be healed. I had an infected site and I wasn't able to swim for 7 weeks.

My Doctor originally told me 14 days after surgery fine... but then his entire staff said no submerging for a month. I am waiting the month :P can not wait to get back in the pool!!

My Dr told me today, after 2 weeks getting into the pool was fine. Just can't go into the ocean, spas, or soak in bath tub for 4 weeks. :)

Check with your doctor's office. Mine told me no swimming until the strips came off and the incisions were completely healed over. He cleared me at the one-month visit.

Mine told me not until the incisions were completely healed, which for me was probably just over 4 weeks (the one where the drain was took longer bc it was bigger). I used the waterproof Nexcare bandages even then just to be sure. An infection would be awful. Also, I couldn't do structured water aerobics classes for either 8 or 12 weeks--they didn't want to risk tearing the staple line.

I'm 3 weeks today and at today's appointment he encouraged me to start swimming. I'll just have to break it to the hubby that he needs to buy me a pool-- Dr's orders!
