Friday Fun Thread
I can remember this like it was yesterday...and yet it was 25 years ago. I was in third grade gym class and these two girls were talking (I thought they were my friends) so I got in on the conversation. They were talking about God and what kinds of things were sins. (Her Daddy was a preacher.) And then this skinny blonde girl looked at me and said "You know it's a sin to overeat. It's called glutony." (The first time I ever heard this term.) And then she went on to tell me that I should ask for forgiveness for being fat or else I would go to hell. I can't begin to tell you what kind of screwed up headgame that did on me. Wouldn't her preacher Daddy be proud of her for "Loving Thy Neighbor?" I think that I'm still pissed off by this.....Ok, DeLarla you win.....LET IT GO! POOF! It's gone.

What do you wish you had known?

I can't wait to be obese!
That's so funny! I'll be delighted when someone describes me as "chubby." It almost sounds affectionately cute, huh?

Wanna be my friend? :)
Looks like we got a good group here! We will have to all stay in touch together! Patty...I've been a crystal light junkie for years and I'm definitely stocked up! I've also got plenty of broth, carnation inst. breakfast, hot tea, etc. My doc lets me have full liquids right away so I can have that low-carb yogurt smoothie stuff too! All of these posts I've read about gas kinda got me curious....Not too excited about that! I'm always getting on my hubby about his gas...I guess payback is hell! Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Talk to you soon!

What irritates you?
How many times have you heard (pre-band) "you have such a pretty face?" (And people say it almost with pity....) I'm wondering if after losing the weight will people say "You have such a cute butt" with that same look of regret. Hee, hee.....can't wait!

What happens to all that extra skin??
Estela, how much would all of that plastic surgery run? That would be something I would treat myself to after staying at goal weight for a certain amount of time....(and it would probably take me years to save for it!) Can they do all of those procedures at once? I bet you will be off your feet for quite some time....but a supermodel once you heal!

Laser Hair Removel
I get my brows waxed each time I get a haircut, no problem. Right before I got married I decided to get my legs and bikini area waxed. Let me just say that the only way I will do this again is if I have plenty of pain medicine leftover from my surgery and my hubby let's me dose up before my appt. OUCH! Can you laser your bikini area? That might be a gift for myself once I reach a short-term goal this summer.

time of the month issues....
Hey...it's not a bad question! I started my period the day before they put me under to do my EGD. I was worried about having a tampon in going under anestesia (sp?), so I called the nurse to ask her about it. I felt like a total idiot when she said, "That's not the end we are interested in, dear."

DeLarla's Weekly Fun Thread
Best diet success I ever had was on adipex. Here's how it went: Adipex in the AM. 12 cups of coffee 1 Lean Cuisine for lunch 5 Grey Goose Martinis (10 olives) Pack of Marlboro Lights (About 4 hours of sleep) After a few weeks I had to keep upping my adipex to keep the speed going. Luckily this was when I was in my 20's and I was single. It also made me CRAZY. Not to mention HIGHLY irritable. I lost about 65lbs. Went on to lead a healthier lifestyle....gained it all back (including my sanity) and then some! Ahhh....the good old days.

Wanna be my friend? :)
woohoo! I am a PLANNER, PLANNER, PLANNER.....I have prepared for absolutely everything to the point of being obsessive. The funny thing is that I thought I would be so preoccupied with the foods that I would be giving up that I would be hording all of the "last suppers," but I'm so excited that I haven't really thought about food that much....just want to get banded!! Patty/Nicole = February 28th, Incredible Shrinking Women!!

What's your favorite "special" day??

viva las vegas
Hey DeLarla, I'm still new to all of this.....been reading/posting for about a month or so. I'll be banded this Monday. I love reading your posts jammed packed with your quick wit. The reason I am writing is this: I'll be in Las Vegas attending a conference April 24-26. I remember reading that you live there, does anyone else? Thought maybe we could get together in my off time? I won't be able to attend the Big Bash y'all are planning....but would love to meet anyone that's close to the area.

OT: Heartbreak. For dog lovers only.
I, too, understand your loss. I had to say goodbye to my beloved companion this past summer and my heart will never be the same. Greiving for a pet is difficult because it is not something that is viewed by society the same as a person. I can remember breaking down at work and trying to hide my emotions, and then being mad that I had to mask my sadness for someone that had been so proud of me. Take comfort with those around you that understand what a difficult time this is for you. It still brings tears to my eyes now just typing this. Those pawprints left on your heart will never go away.
