I will not be the one to tell you want to do. If you smoke they say the healing time is longer. What I will tell you is my story. Went I was released from the hospital I went right back to smoking. I did not have any post problems. I have smoked ever since that time. I smoke because I want to, I enjoy it and that is the decision I made. What it sounds like happened is she was not chewing her food up. When you get to large of pieces it could back up. Why is the person getting this attention, she did this to herself. Why do you have to eat so fast. IS someone going to take your food away.

Everyone goes thru the same thing. 2 days before surgery I went to my favorite diner and ordered all of my favorites. I was very surprised to see I had not gained an ounce. I am not telling you, in anyway to keep eating but done feel like you are alone. If it makes you feel better you will still be able to eat your favorites. Once you go thru the first few weeks after surgery you will then again begin to get back on your old eating (just not the same portions). I have klearned the trick is to use a sandwich plate. It make your mind think you have a whole plate of food. That is the best idea I picked up. Remind yourself you really want this and need to teach yourself control. Maybe you should stay away from restaurants until after surgery and you will see no more cravings. Keep yourself active by starting a journal, then you will be able to see what triggers there binges. Relax, don't over think the whole thing. The surgery is a breeze. As for your medical problems, that is all up to your doctor. I don't see any down side to increase your health. Most people say they would never change their decision. Once I went though it myself I must agree, wish I would have done it ealier. I never even thought of a surgery like this until my doctor suggested it,, it only took me a few days to decide this what I want and I never turned back. Good luck to you and wish you well.

This may sound awful silly, but the should pain is most likely gas pains. I experienced it with both my Gallbladder removal and with the sleeve. I sure hope this helps.

I take Ambien for sleep. I was able to take it the night before surgery and right after surgery.

I have BCBS in Pa, I did not have any pre-op to follow. If you have other conditions it can be bottom line 35 BMI if there is no other conditions it has to be 40 BMI. Talk to your doctor about it and see what he recommends.

I am so the same way. I was scared about meeting with her too. She only talks to your for a few minutes. She will ask you things like do you feel you will comit suicide if you have this done. I would tell you to start your protein shakes now and jut drink those. They are very filling and you can drink as many as you want. I never could and when I went for surgery I was down 22 ols. Ireally did not try, had to be the protein shakes.

You are at a different place in your life. You will not have hunger pains and more. You mind will remind tell you when to eat not your stomach. As for the pain where is the pain located and on a scale from 1 to 10 and 10 being the worse you ever felt when is the pain?

Stage 2 is unclear liquids, stage 3 is puree this is like egg salad, scrambled eggs etc. as for the protein. You MUST drink protein right now. At this point the drink is the only was your body is getting protein. Please do not stop them, I don't want to see you get sick.

Janice great news you got he surgery done. You are not to be drink too much it is to be 1/2 shot glass every 15 minutes. It is depressing when it is first done, but you will be doing the weight loss dance with us in no time. I am proud of you...

I drink GNC premade Total Lean Shakes. If you put these in the freezer for a little bit they taste just like a chocolate shakes. Take it from me you will have up times and down times. You are not alone please find someone on here to lean on and you will get passed this.

Each surgeon is different but most of them do not want you to take any NSAIDS this close. I would tell you to speak to your surgeon. He after surgery you will need a medical braclet notifiying emergency medical that you are a patient and that you can not have a NG tube placed blindly and you can not have NSAIDS.

I can only speak for myself>they told me the same thing you heard. If I did not quit the surgery would be cancelled. I smoken right up to the hospital and as soon as I got out. I depends on your insurance company. They had never asked me for the test again.

I did check into this. Most insurance companies do not cover it unless it is a medical issue (like sores under the skin flap) or if the extra skin is causing depression. If you find out any different I would like to know.

Ok, some doctors require them to drain fluid. This tube is called a JP tube (Jackson Pratt). It is inserted in you thru one of you incision areas to drain fluid so no infection can start. The end of the tube is a bulb which is compressed so it has a steady suction using gravity. It is usually not left in more than a few days (most times removed before leaving the hospital).
