bcbs new jersey 35,7 bmi

anyone have bmi like mine? i really cant loose weight before surgery. they told me if i was under bmi and on the operating table they would not pay. catch 22 really. i have to do a 3 month program thru them and for insurance. its such a fine line to walk. excited and scared.

I have BCBS in Pa, I did not have any pre-op to follow. If you have other conditions it can be bottom line 35 BMI if there is no other conditions it has to be 40 BMI. Talk to your doctor about it and see what he recommends.

I have aetna but was in a simular situation. I had to do the 6 month supervised diet and my bmi at the time was 39.something low. I didnt have surgery until 11 months after initially starting the diet. If i would of lost 4 more pounds my surgery would of been canceled. Try not to gain weight on the diet because if they want to they will deny you. Just watch the scale. Good luck BTW i am in NJ too!

I am in the same boat, bmi of 40.4 and I have gone up a couple pounds since I began , I am super worried about it my last weigh in is june 25 so gonna be on my best behavior to try to get those few pounds off, but man I am scared they are going to deny me!
