May 28, 201313 yr But if I've never been successful at loosing weight how am I supposed to loose 10%??? I've never been able to loose that much
May 28, 201313 yr you are talking about losing 10% of your body weight pre-op? this is an insurance requirement or your surgeon's?
May 28, 201313 yr But if I've never been successful at loosing weight how am I supposed to loose 10%??? I've never been able to loose that much Sounds weird huh? I started my program in january and was told I had to lose 10% which is 30lbs for me. I am now 25lbs down and my finale doctor visit is June 10. I dont know how long your program is and what it entails but slow and steady is all I can say, work towards making better choices use an app like my fitness pal, lose it spark, people etc to keep track. The first couple months I had a lot of "this is the last time ill be having this" or food funerals but as I made changes and educated myself of life post op it has gotten easier. Look at this as just another step closer to your healthy life your sleeve is just a tool and we have to change the habits and behaviors that got us to this point, be strong you have a lot of support here!
May 28, 201313 yr Author It's the surgeons requirement I have not cal kaiser. I would need to loose 22 lbs. your right though I just have to do it! I have a 1&2 yr old and it's so hard to get the time for myself
May 28, 201313 yr Author I have heard that not all patients have to so who knows! I'll start trying hard now
May 28, 201313 yr I would tell you to start your protein shakes now and jut drink those. They are very filling and you can drink as many as you want. I never could and when I went for surgery I was down 22 ols. Ireally did not try, had to be the protein shakes.

I have Geisinger which is kinda to east coast Kaiser lol surgeon insurance program etc places this requirement. Well with 2 babies you got the activity part licked lol Protein Shakes are good just dont burn yourself out on them to soon.
May 28, 201313 yr Author I haven't met with the surgeon yet waiting to be approved to move forward I just know this is a kaiser requirement. I'll give the protein shakes a try maybe for lunches and do a light breakfast And healthy dinner. Looks like me and my treadmill need to become friends again!
May 28, 201313 yr Ive lost mine with no exercise at all like none lol I drive truck, protein shakes, yogurt. Cottage cheese are good just watch carbs and sugars...you can do this
May 28, 201313 yr I have to lose 10% as well. That's my insurance company requesting that. Plus 3 week pre-op liquid diet. I was considering doing the liquid diet for a week and see how I do with weight loss. Just eat a lean dinner. It's frustrating!'
May 28, 201313 yr My advice would be to start slow, pick one category of bad choices and stop eating them. I started with sugary foods and started chewing a lot of gum. Then work on portion sizes and then stick to healthier options. I take my son walking with me daily (15mths) First day I could only do 15minutes 4/week (5 warm up 5 moderate 5 cool down, moderate described to me by my physiotherapist as being able to talk but not sing) Now almost 10 weeks later am down 36lbs and walking 45minutes daily, 30 mod. It's really hard for first cpl weeks but it gets easier. Now I know what real hunger feels like...if I can do it so can you...Just make sure if you falter you forgive and start again.. You are stronger than you know! And we're here for you.
