Absolutely YES! It has been the best decision I have ever made!! It took me 30 years to put this weight on. After many diets and brief successes that turned to failures I now have the proper "tool" to help me and I am very grateful. It is helping me to become the healthy person I want to be!

I agree with the smaller comment. I don't think that it is smaller versus I have been building muscles in my core etc.
But sex is better than ever and you better damn well believe I count it as Cardio!

Everyone feels like your feeling. Lord knows I did. But when you start seeing the weight coming off yiu wont even be worried about that sandwich or slice of pizza. But you will be able to eat it in about 3 months. Dont rush it. When it was time for purees I wasnt ready so I did an extra week of liquids. When it was time for soft foods I did an extra week of purees. When it was time for solids I did and extra week of soft foods. Get the point. Dont rush pace yourself. Your body will know when its ready.

Yes, but with my history of yo-yo diets and losing 60 only to gain it back it is frustrating. The sleeve is perfect for me. I am 4 months out and I have lost 82lbs. The sleeve is a great tool. It keeps me grounded. I know how much food I can tolerate at a sitting so I am cautious about my Protein intake which in turn helps me to avoid bad choices. I probably could have been successful but with the day to day drudges of life who knows how much I might have regained back. Good luck to you!

I would love to see a tab at the very top of the page where we have Forum, Community, Photos. And have a tab that is labeled "frequent questions' and in the pull down menu: stalls, Hair loss, Vitamin ideas, Protein Shake debate. I don't know if this will help. Or if there is a tab for frequent questions and then it pulls up a search where you can enter your question easier and get answers faster from previous posts? But you kind of have that already. hmmmmm.
    Somehow it is getting missed.
Thanks! And I am looking forward to the new version of VST!

I'm 6 months post op from my surgery and I have a before and current picture to show
On the left was a day or two post surgery (pic taken with surgeon Dr jaime Ponce de leon in Tijuana with coordinator Trish), and on the right was me in the backyard today on my way to my daughter's Mother's Day Tea at school. I'm down 89 pounds since surgery day, Weighed 303 on Nov 8th and weigh 214.3 today. I still have a ways to go, but I feel great and this was without a doubt the best decision ever. I am no longer in pain just walking to the corner of the street. I'm walking 10 000 + steps per day, and doing weight training at the gym with a personal trainer 2-3 times per week. I never would have done that before. I'm even thinking of picking up Karate Wouldn't that be something! I'm more confident too, I don't shy away when someone talks to me. Here are some size stats too: Since surgery I've lost: 1.5 inches on my neck, 2.25 inches on my bicep, 1.5 inches forearm, 8 inches chest, 8.5 inches waist, 10 inches hips, 7.25 inches thigh, and 2.75 inches on my calf. I'm 5'6" and fitting into a loose 18 or a 16. I still have really big hips though so it's still hard to find clothing that fits right! I aim for 90 to 120 grams of Protein per day.

take your time eating. when i first started on full solids, my first meal was a scrambled egg with cheese. I could only eat half the egg, and it was a very strange feeling to eat the solid food. My stomach made such noises!!! Eat it slowly, chew it well and wait a bit between bites. if you try to eat it "normal" you will probably get sick. The Cheese for most people isn't a problem at all. Good luck!

I had surgery on May 14th, too, and today I get to start FULL LIQUIDS. Not even soft or mushy foods...hell, I still have my drain in! I can't imagine trying to eat a hot dog and even though you're feeling horrible and say you won't do it again, I AM going to give you a bit of a verbal kick. What makes you think a HOT DOG is a decent Protein or food PERIOD? Even if you were desperate for something solid, there are many, MANY choices better than a hot dog. You could have tried some cottage cheese, or other soft cheese, yogurt, canned chicken, etc.
That said, do what others have suggested. Call your doctor to get their advice, and then go back to liquids for a couple of days. The more irritated/inflamed your stomach is, the more trouble you're going to have. So even WHEN this discomfort passes, if you try to eat a soft food, you're more likely to have MORE discomfort....it becomes a wicked cycle. Give your stomach time to recover and heal with more liquids.

My word that was very distressing to read. Your stomach at this point is still "numb"
So the fact that you were able to cram the whole dog in doesn't surprise me...
When you do go back to eating please only eat things that are on plan this early out and measure! No more than 1/4 cup at a meal..
My other concern would be for getting an upper hand on any food addiction issues you may have.
From experience I know that this surgery will not cure that, it is something we have to work very hard at.
    Good luck to you,
    Laura
Oh and as Lisa said above look for symptoms that may indicate a leak and call the doctor right away of you are showing signs.

Okay. Im a little unnerved that i keep seeing people here going right nack to the same eating style that got us into fat camp in the first place.
The gastric sleeve is a blessing and we should treat it that way. Why go through all of this if we just keep eating the trash we were eating before???
Being skinny now doesnt make us immune to health issues. We can still develop hypertension, diabetes, and hypercholesteremia!
Dont live to eat, eat to live. food should no longer be our reward nor focus. Just eat whats necessary and dont push the envelope.
American values has us programmed into thinking food is for fun. Its not, its simply fuel for us to do things that are fun.
Come on people, we have to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stop toying with our health.
    Peace and love to all.

Yep people I am here to say some people neglect to clean the lint out of their belly buttons! You cannot imagine how hard it is to clean some of them. I had one patient that I ended up using a lot of q-tips and peroxide only to pull out a huge glob of lint! Yuck! At least I assume it was lint!

It does get much much better! Attitude is key! Take any and all suggestions on here! Everyone is awesome and everyone has all kinds of advice! Most importantly talk to your NUT and surgeon. Please go to a WLS support group in your area if possible! This is the best thing I have ever done! I hope you are able to look ahead and realize how your life can benefit from the decision you made! It is hard to change our lifestyle and eating habits. The sleeve is a wonderful TOOL! Use it wisely and you will begin to see the possibilities. I hope and pray you will soon see the positive side of having your surgery. You must have researched this and come to the conclusion that you want to be healthier and live better for yourself and your family. You came this far so do not be discouraged by anything since you are so newly out of surgery. Awesome people on this website! Please keep us updated on your progress! Good luck and good health to you ALWAYS!
