I had my sleeve surgery 10 months ago yesterday! I started at 308 and now am down to 180- I've lost 128 lbs! I could not be more proud of myself. Going from a size 24 pant and 3x shirt to a size 9-10 pant and medium shirt feels amazing! I struggled for 23 years with my weight! I can honestly say I have no regrets! To me I lost 447 lbs because I got rid of a guy who brought me down and wouldn't let me shine!! I have now found love with an incredible man who supports me and loves me unconditionally!
I am proud of everyone who has had or going to have the sleeve! Be proud

    Hi Everyone!
It is my 11 month surgeversary tomorrow so I thought I would post my progress pics. I am down 116 pounds and have 25 more to go to goal. The absolute best thing I could have done for myself. I am not the same person at all. I sometimes have a hard time keeping up with how I look on the outside. I still feel the same on the inside. Well... happier of course but still the same person! I hope to lose 5 more pounds before my 1 year. Then I will have only 20 to goal. I have to say, I didn't think I would get this close!!! It has been an amazing journey. I had to have my gallbladder taken out 3 weeks ago, but all is well!

axd0424 OMG - what did you say???
tell me you didn't really eat 3 slices of pizza two days before WLS???
people have been shot for less
between you and me (everyone else cover your ears) - i went on a food funeral for almost a week prior to surgery
many people do this - not a good thing - but for some (like me) i felt i was never gonna be able to eat again, so i splurged
ok, to all that were "good little sleevers" and covered your ears - you can now take your hands off your ears!!!
to "you" that didn't listen to me - you must now have 10 Protein shakes in the next hour
course if you didn't listen to me before, i doubt you will now
of course i found out soon enough that you will eat "normal" again
you can definitely eat pizza later - just very smalllll piece
your tummy is now small - it holds a teeny bit of food that will happily make you full!!, at the same time your craving will be satisfied
you'll probably be tired Tuesday morning
you'll be nervous from worry the night before
take a nap during WLS - they won't mind
    best of luck on tuesday
    speedy recovery

Maybe organic sprouted tofu. It's yummy, lots of Protein. I'm still on the purée stage and I have not attempted to purée but I do plan on eating that for my majority of 'lean protein' once on solid.

Congrats on your victorious farts. My toots have diminished since surgery. I'm thinking because of my lack of fruits and veggies. I'm hoping to regain some fart power once I'm on solid good phase but congrats again!! Haha funny topic

When I started the 6 month diet process, exercise was a four letter word. I couldn't do a lot. Walking was a chore. I started at 338 (my highest weight was 354). Following the doctor supervised weight loss plan (about 1200 calories a day) & joined the Y. I could barely do Water aerobics when I started & only 3 minutes on the elliptical. I wouldn't have ran if I was chased by a masked man with a butcher knife. During that 6 months, I lost 50 pounds!
On May 18th, my surgery weight was 288. I walked the halls every time I had to pee, which thanks to my IV, was once an hour. My doctor cleared me to go back to the gym at 7 weeks post op. I was shocked at how fatigued I felt & that I had to start all over. I was at the gym for 2 hours the day before my surgery. But it didn't take me nearly as long to get back up to speed.
I'm now 11 months out & down 143 pounds total. Ive bounced up & down from 195-205 for THREE months. The scale seems like its going to start moving again soon! I'm 195 pounds right now, from a size 30/32 tops & jeans to a size MD/LG & 11/12 jeans. . I'm 5'7. My goal weight is 160. I'm having a corset trunkplasty on May 28th which is estimated to take off 15-18 pounds of skin & fat in my stomach. The surgeon took a girl similar height & weight loss to mine from a 12/14 to a 6/8 after the surgery. I started saving my taxes & anything I could scrimp together when I started this whole process cause I knew I was going to have stomach skin issues.
Now I can hit the elliptical for an hour to an hour & a half at a time. I lift weight, low weight lots of repetition to sculpt & not bulk. I can RUN! On purpose! I can run a straight 11 minute mile, walk 3 minutes, run another mile, walk 3 more, run again. That's 3 miles baby! I'm training for my first 5K. I plan to run the entire thing. I love Zumba & spinning and can do the entire 1 hour class without issues.
This has been the hardest change I've ever made but so worth it! Good luck to all you newbies, you CAN do this! (If curious about my exercise or food at a year out, feel free to add me on MyFitnessPal, my diary is open. User name: KristieAtkinson)

    Hey guys,
I started a post when I first joined here, but I put it in the wrong forum, so I figured I would start a new one here..
    A lil back story..
I am 36 years old (Male) from New Jersey. In HS I put on weight my senior year from about 185-190 to about 250, and then dropped back down to the high 100's for a few years. It crept up over time and I maintained at about 225-250 for most of my 20's. My 30's I ticked up to about 275ish and after getting married I got to my peak of 326.
So, that covers my weight struggles.. Now the reasons for the sleeve.. Well, I was what I would call a heavy eater.. I worked on the road so I usually skipped Breakfast and got moving on my client visits.. lunch would usually be a stop at some fast food type place.. If per say it was the Arches.. I would get a double QP large, and probably a 10 piece nugget.. If it was a sub shop I'd get a whole sub.. You get the idea.. big meals that where not healthy.. I'd get home, and make dinner usually filling my plate with 2 portions of everything.. Then snack on chips or something later.. Drinking Coke the entire time.. Or Snapple Peach Iced Tea.
So, last year I decided enough was enough.. I had tried diets here and there, but never really stuck with them.. Will power is not my strongest quality.. I spoke to some friends who had surgery (RNY) and decided to set up an appointment with Dr. Chau of NJ Bariatrics. I really liked him, and decided that I didn't need to look any further.. I had planned to meet many doctors, but felt confident enough that he was the man for the job.
My insurance (through my wifes job) required a visit to the shrink and 6 months with the NUT.. So, I did it.. Got off of Sugary drinks, tried to make sure I had some sort of breakfast every morning and tried to change my meal choices.. I did lose a few pounds, but as soon as my 6 months was up, I pretty much went back to old bad habits, and ballooned up to my peak.. Insurance approved the surgery and I had it on 3/20.
Pre op diet for me was shakes for breakfast and lunch, and then protien heavy dinner no carbs. I did cheat on 3 occasions.. once the first night.. I had a pb&j, then later in the week I had a sub for lunch, and finally 4 days before the surgery I had 1 hot dog.. Even with that, I still lost 12 pounds. The day of surgery came and I was sleeved!
After the surgery, I spent 1 night in the hospital, and had issues with being "Tachy" my heart rate would sit at about 100-160 and they loaded me up with all sorts of pain meds in addition to my magic button of highness. :oP
So, I will skip the details of what a bad patient I was.. you can see my blog for those.. Link is in my sig.
I got home and was in moderate pain. I had to walk holding my belly up because the incisions felt like they where pulling and had to sleep on my right side because the largest cut hurt too much when laying. The pain only lasted 2-3 days at a constant level, then dulled down enough that I didn't need pain meds anymore.
Since the surgery I've only had one minor event.. I had a shake one night for dinner and it didn't sit well. I got nauseous, but couldn't vomit.. Just sat over the bowl dry heaving.. It hasn't happened since and I hope it doesn't happen again. Also.. POOP! I wasn't expecting not to poop for a week.. That was strange.. but thankfully the ladies in chat are not shy about talking about poop and told me it was normal.
Since my surgery which I am 5 days shy of one month, I now weigh 280. I saw my sister for the first time today and she was shocked! That felt really nice. I am so happy that I did this, and I get so excited when I pass my mini goals. I'll make a list of my mini's at the bottom of this..
I hope to be able to share events with my weight loss and life with you all in this thread, and also on my blog. If you are on the fence about doing this, I hope this might have tipped you in the direction of making that big change.

Bring a heat pad with you. It also helps with the gas pains. I slept with my electric heat pad on my abdomen or shoulder. Walking really does work! Good luck tomorrow

I am also having surgery pre-baby. I am 36...would never even consider getting pregnant this obese...so if somehow close to 40 I have a child great...if not at least I can really enjoy my childfree life hopping on a plane without the stress, and sit on a beach somewhere! It will be interesting to watch the responses..thanks for asking this. I plan on trying about a year after I hit a good weight...I fell better about having a baby and being older than I do about being knocked-up and obese and high risk!!

So, I just weighed myself this morning and I am at 199!! I never thought I would have ever reached this, I don't remember the last time my weight started with a 1! And also one more pound until I have officially lost 100lbs.
I posted a before photo today, and I also took a photo of me from last night, the one I took today didn't turn out for some reason
It took me two years to even get approved for surgery! and I FINALLY got it on Dec. 4, 2012. It was frustrating, but to see all of the progress it was totally worth it...so if anyone out there is going through a hard time getting approved, keep fighting and don't give up. It gets frustrating, but it is worth it
Sorry I was excited and had to post about it. I hope everyone is doing well!

Hey Nicole, I'm Nicole too . My fav was Chike. I think you have to get it online. It's in a powder form. Another one I like they sell at target and wegmans. It's pre-made called EAS advantedge 17 G Protein 3 net carbs and 110 cal. Other people on here recommend shakes from SAMs. I'm not sure what they are called but they seem highly recommended. And they also recommend powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I can't stomach them though. Good luck to you!!

For the people who don't know me my name is Corey. I started my preop diet in October of 2012 at 475lbs. I was sleeved on 1/28/13, on that day I weighed in at 450lbs. As of today I am at 382lbs, and I can already feel a major difference in things I can do now that I couldn't before. I couldn't walk for more then ten minutes at a time before the surgery, now I go for an hour plus walk almost everyday! I think the hardest part for me so far has been reinventing my relationship with food..... food use to be my goto for everything. I got depressed, I ate. If I was bored, I ate. If I was happy or celebrating something, I ate. Now I find constructive stuff to do when or if I need to. I started drawing, and I am thinking about buying a tattoo gun and some practice skin next. Me and my son go outside and play (it's nice not being so tired all the time!) and I am looking forward to being able to goto amusement parks this summer and being able to fit on rides!! My weight loss journey is far from over, my goal weight is 200-220lbs and I know that thanks to this surgery as long as I stay committed I will make it. I also wanted to take a minute to say thank you to the people on this site as well, without the support you guys have given me during my rough times in the beginning I don't think I would be doing as well as I am now! Thank you!!
