I have just finished my six month supervised diet and got rid of my diet coke addiction. I gradually reduced how much I was drinking and haven't had one for over a month. It has been easier than I thought it would be although there are times when I have a hard time resisting. I was told by my nutritionist no more diet coke for me. Besides the stretching and the bubbles it would be very hard to get your Water in if you continue to drink diet pop. For me it is easier to give it up than to drink it occasionally with out starting to let it take over again as my drink of choice.

1/2 of the people on here believe it will expand your tummy and the other 1/2 think that is a crock. Do a quick search and you will see this topic comes up often and there is always a debate about it. You need to decide what you believe. I do have a diet coke once a week or so. For some the carbonation makes they feel uncomfortable ... For me it works and doesnt send me into an eating frenzy. Good luck!

Yep, I'm 11 weeks out and that's about all I can get in. One poached egg and half a slice if wheat toast is as much as I get down in one sitting. It's great!!!

I'm preop..but based on my mothers experience and other posters yes..especially with the bread. Bread tends to paste up or swell in your stomach and fill u fast. Most ppl avoid bread, tortillas ect for quite some time after surgery. Many have problems with it long term.

Ok, some of the sleeve basics.
    Healing:
You're suture line is typically considered healed at 6 weeks post-op.
would will feel a lot of restriction while eating solid foods due to swelling of the stomach tissue.
Typically your stomach capacity at 4-6 weeks for solids (assuming your doc allows them) will be about 2oz and will slowly grow to 8-10oz. Maximum capacity is typically reached in 8-12mo, however @ 6 months you'll likely be very close to maximum.
Keep in mind these are common case scenarios. Your mileage may vary.
Provided you make it to the 6week mark without any complications & almost all do, your chances for complications after that are almost non existent.
I think you'll be very happy with your new sleeve. I understand that this is all a bit of a shock for you, but keep looking around the forum, you find tons of ex-bandsters that say the sleeve is exactly what the band was promised to be but never delivered.

I think it's normal - I slept alot too. I'm 4 weeks post-op and still have to take a little catnap when I get home from work.

One thing my psych suggested is to keep an index card or photos of what my ultimate reason for the weight loss goal is in my purse or on me at all times so that if I think of food I'll remember that whatever it is I want right now is not as important as the long term goal which is to live for my kids and grandkids.

It will get better. I am assuming cuz I wont know til after tomorrow but I think its normal. You are in mourning, its grief. We gave up something we loved and turned to in times of need. Itsonly temporary. You will get thru this and you will one day be able to eat yur faves but just in moderation. You will get better and maybe a good cry is all you need. If the feelings do not subside tho you may want to talkto youdoctor.
    Be happy sweetie

I'll second the pass on Paxil. I gained 30 lbs on it and demanded to be switched. I take lexapro now, although I've heard similar things about it.

In the initial stages Protein is king. You need it more than anything at this stage and through the rest of your life, but especially at this stage.
If you stick to the plan, you will lose the fat. Many of us have failed diets so much that it is hard to believe that it will work this time. The ghost of failed diets past haunts us. This time you have REAL science on your side.
I was a guy that most everyone, even my surgeon, didn't think would make goal. I guess they thought I was too light-hearted about it all. What they didn't see was the mean, stubborn guy inside of me that loves a good fight.

You might just let her know that you don't want to put her out and prepare your own meals. My husband and I do not eat the same things so we have prepared meals separately for years. If you plan well, it doesn't take all that much time.

My wife is supportive but can be like your wife with decisions. At first she just complained about not having the money to get rid of extra skin. I very bluntly told her I don't care about the extra skin and we will deal with that when it happens. I am sorry your wife isn't being supportive. It sounds like you could use that right now. Have you given any thought to some counseling for the both of you? Maybe involving her in nutritional appointments so she can see exactly what needs to happen.
