Please excuse her, it seems as though her ID has run rampant.
Rather amusing I must say, a nurse (I.e. NA, CNA, RN), who knows what her credentials are, is trying to provide a psychological perspective to the opinion that you provided... a field she has not been formally educated in.

You humor and amaze me. Unlike you I don't let anyone or anything "rub me the wrong way" that takes too much energy. Seems to me you just seek me out to contradict my opinion. If you think my posts have the ring of superiority, that's your opinion, don't read them. Personally, if I don't like someone I ignore them, you are welcome to do that. I know who I am and what I am and I don't worry about what you or anyone else thinks of me, I'm entitled to my opinions and thoughts and I'm going to keep voicing them. My journey is my story, I can't speak for anyone but myself.

Geminidrive got a reaction from shayv123 in Black/Mixed Races Sleevers (hair)
I am losing quite a bit of hair. I have been adhering to all of the Protein and Vitamin guidelines, yet still experiencing loss. Seems like the majority of the loss is volume but there is some breakage so most likely I may be cutting it off and starting from scratch. I frequent the salon bi-weekly and have had protein and moisturizing treatments, and nothing has stopped the loss. I did speak with my PCP and checked blood panel and everything is normal, she seems to think that it is just part of the rapid weight loss. I will be seeing a dermatologist tomorrow so I'll keep you posted. It is what it is, It certainly isn't the worst thing that has happened in my life and may be just part of the process.....it's just hair and it will grow back. I hope you will be ok.

I know, it is annoying, but it could be worse. My hair is pretty thick, but if it continues to shed I'll chop it off and start from scratch. (I'll save a considerable amount of money at the salon too.)

I told several people I was thinking about doing it. I wanted to hear feedback and support. I was also kinda hoping for somebody to say "What the heck - NO NO NO!". I didn't hear any negative feedback (I have a great and diverse group of friends and family). I thought my sister would be the 'doubter' but she was super supportive. She's been doing a lot of research and asks me questions - which helps us both - I know what I'm getting into and that helps calm her fears. I've challenged her to find something I haven't heard about or researched. I HATE the stigma attached to WLS. It's not a failure or a way to cheat weight loss - it's a tool and a good choice for me.
Will I post it to FB? Yes, probably after I get my date. If you're not in support of me, then you're not really my friend anyway. I don't want to lie (or hide the truth) - it's a journey, it's a lot of work and YAY ME!
I get why others are keeping it to themselves but that's not for me. Best of luck everybody!

How about take the food out of the day? Do something fun, go to the movies, go purchase a piece of jewelry, go have a couples massage. Plan a date to Celebrate your anniversary 6 months from now. This is just temporary.

Hi, 180 might be an idea weight since you are tall. Just remember you can always adjust your weight goals as you start to lose the weight. Good luck!

I know its a personal choice to tell or not . But can i say that had a Facebook friend not been open with me about how she lost the weight i wouldnt have looked into the surgery. Because of her honesty it gave me hope. And thats why im so open about it.

Funny...I told everyone. But it's like they all forgot I had surgery. I never heard one negative word about surgery. But everyday people ask me about my diet, or my workouts....and they are constantly wanting weight loss advice or telling me that "Monday" they are gonna start eating better and going to the gym.
So basically, I've become like a poster child for weight loss. Telling or not telling about the surgery wouldn't change that.....so, just saying...get ready for that.
And don't think people aren't going to ask you about your weight loss. They can't help themselves. They are going to say..."You look great." Followed by "how much have you lost?"...and then the ever obvious "how did you do it?"
"Magic beans" is the only anser I have ever given that didn't get a look of disappointment.

I have been here too. My reply to my friend was something similar to this:
It is not up to you to determine how and when God will present me with an option that will be long lasting and beneficial to my health. God promised "life and life more abundantly" and "health and prosperity". It is up to you as an individual to pursue those things and I have made bad decisions. I have tried to exercise and get my temple right, but this is a weak area. I KNOW that God opened the door for me to have this operation, and the result will be that his temple will finally be healthy -- the way he planned and his child (me) will be happy.
God gives you tools to use to enhance your life. If you lose your job and need money... it does not fall from a tree, he will lead somebody to give you the money or lead somebody to offer you a part time position, or whatever. Theres no difference here -- I am over weight, I am headed down the road for diseases and God has given me this last opportunity to make a permanent change.
Why do you think he gave the doctors the capacity to learn, understand and be innovative enough to come up with this procedure? If this is not a subject you can handle talking about or supporting me on, then we will avoid it all together.

Geminidrive reacted to iggychic in Alchol 4 weeks post
My doc said never before two months. Picture your arm....now picture you broke it and have a huge suture line down it where they sewed it up.....want to pour rubbing alcohol on it???? Probably not, even at four weeks it's not fully healed so the alcohol is going to hurt that new skin that's forming. That's what you're doing to your poor cut open tummy At four weeks you are not fully healed (it takes a minimum six and up to eight which is why my doc says two months). So skip it tonight.
On the "gets drunk easier" thing. I drink wine, not hard alcohol so the results might be different, but I don't get tipsy on one glass of wine. Actually I find if I get even a tiny buzz it goes away very quickly but that takes a couple of large glasses, where as previously two larger glasses of wine would make me a bit happy LOL I don't drink to get drunk so I kind of like that it does not bother me But at four weeks...save it for home later.
Also...first glass of wine I had tasted like vinegar and it gave me terrible heart burn. I had actually waited four months or so because of complications and I totally lost my palate. I find that the tannins in some red wines bother me now so I only drink reds that I know are lower in tannins. This sucks because we collect pinot noir.

I, for some reason, feel like people are ashamed to tell more people about having WLS. It is not something to be ashamed of. Clearly people every day see us all overweight, struggling in our daily lives in one capacity or another. I, for one, am shouting it from the roof tops that I am making the biggest change of my life and getting on the road to a healthier me. I feel like people are either being phony or they are just too ashamed or afraid to open up and be honest about what is going on. Yes, some people are going to say negative things about you getting WLS, but SO WHAT. I have faced the same thing and just had to show them that I do not care what they think; I am going to do what is best for me and for my health. This surgery is going to be a life changer and it is going to bring back my vision.
I went to a support group a few weeks ago and people there were telling stories of how they would tell their friends and family that they had been working out more and changed their diets up when asked how they had lost so much weight. Why lie? Where is that going to get you? I would rather be honest and show them that I made a choice that I can stick with for life. Honesty has always been the best policy and I see no need to change that just to meet another human being's expectations of me.
My cousin, who was my babysitter growing up, just had WLS a little while ago. Our family treats her no differently than they do anyone else. At family gatherings they do not molly coddle her about what she eats or worry over whether or not they need to put certain foods away. Why would they? If you are willing to put your body through this surgery, you should be willing to have the will power to abstain from eating the foods or portions you know your body can't have. She is my surgery role model. I am so ecstatic that she is such and that we have such a supportive family behind us.
I'm sorry if this is offensive to anyone. I am tired of being "that girl" who let weight define her and keep her quiet for so long. All my life I have kept my opinions to myself because I wanted people to like me or be my friend, but now, I don't care anymore. I am shouting it out from the roof tops. Weight loss surgery is about to change my life forever!

Keep beating yourself up. If you can't manage to stick to just two weeks the next several months are going to be too hard for you.
