  1. A lot of meds come in liquid form as well...I took my meds that way while in the hospital...When I came home it was 2 weeks before I was allowed to take any Vitamins and when I did I looked for pills that were as small as I could get them....or chewables.. As far as dehydration goes....get some G2 Gatorade and mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with Water and drink that instead of just plain water...It will keep you hydrated.... 9 months out and I am still doing that....I never worry about that issue at all.. Best to you on the sleeve!
  2. Get some G2 Gatorade and mix it 1/2 and 1/2 with water...It will really help with hydration, and you will get your water in as well......I can only stand the orange...But you may like the others as well.....
  3. Sorry I meant I was on liquids 2 weeks before surgery......oops!
  4. It all depends on your Dr. and how he/she sets things up...... I was on liquids for 22 weeks before my surgery and never cheated...Then I was on liquids after surgery for 5 days before I ended up in the hospital due to complications with the sleeve...... I did not eat anything for 5 1/2 months in total....... Think of why you are on liquids...and what it did for your liver and how your sleeve needs to heal first before you can add other types of food to it..... Sorry...Thought you might feel better knowing that someone else had it far worse then you!!!!!!
  5. I was 381 and now 9 months out I have lost 131.4 lbs..I am so proud of myself I can't stand it...LOL
  6. I eat fruit for my snacks.......Love it! Watch at first acidic fruit...go slow...I was surprised I can handle oranges and the like now because before my surgery I could not.... The fruit tastes much sweeter and delicious now...I eat plenty of fruit...great Fiber and low in calories..if your counting!
  7. I am 9 months out and still cannot handle beef or pork at all...Does not matter how much I chew it it feels like it is stuck in my throat.....Throwing up...at first I did that several times a day.....that was a problem...I throw up now only when I am upset and my sleeve tightens and I can't swallow....Happened 2 times this week... One good way to slow your eating is to put your fork down after every bite.....Make sure you take tiny bites as well as you can end up swallowing bigger not so chewed pieces....This works well for me..Although my food gets cold before I get it eaten and thats a drag...I lose interest in it then....
  8. Try it and you will find out.....It is hard to digest but I really don't think you will have any trouble with it.. Funny though...my daughter made 3 different broths for me and took the veggies and did what you did...I had tons of it in my freezer....Didn't touch any of it...My sleeve was so sensitive at the time and now 9 months later if anyone mentions broth or liquids like Protein shakes I nearly go insane..... For you..if you are up to it......Try it and you will know almost right away! all the best!
  9. So glad you posted this .....The problem is is that for me...It happens when I take a couple of bites of my meal....I start to sneeze and then my nose starts to run like a tap....I keep Kleenexes handy by my plate at all times...Very attractive!!!!!!! It happened today at lunch and my husband shrugged his shoulders and looked at me and said...I have no idea why...And I replied me too.... I always seek to be different.....
  10. I saw the team today that look after me and now at nine months out I only lost 15 lbs. in 6 weeks......I guess this is very normal to have them..The thing is if you weigh yourself a lot then you will get upset over the stalls..I only weigh myself at the Surgeons office and about every 8 weeks....So the stalls are gone and I at least lose something..... It just feels better not knowing when I have a stall.....You know!!!!
  11. I am 9 months out and still throw up periodically....If my nerves are bad, it is like my stomach closes up and won't let me swallow......Tonight was a good example........my friend told me something that got me upset after having a wonderful visit with the team that look after me through this process....Could not eat.... So it can still happen now and then according to what you are trying or stress...But hang in there it gets less and less.......
  12. I did that and when I came home from the hospital all the clothes I had left over were to big...5 months away can make a huge difference...lol do what feels best for you!
  13. Congratulations.. There is always a wow or red flag moment in our lives that change us forever.....Your doing great and look awesome......go girl go..All the best to you!
  14. You are normal......It will all pass and you will be on your way in a couple of weeks....Major surgery is hard on the body.....Your already walking around and doing great......Mention the swelling to your surgeon just for your own piece of mind....and congrats.. Look, great your thirsty......ice chips help a lot.....Take small sips of Water.....tepid...not cold...easier on the stomach......
  15. I can't wait to be in onederland...did I say I can't wait... Congrats!!!!!
  16. There are different size stomachs according to your build, height.just the same as if I was 10 feet tall all my organs would be complementing that size...... Amazing how the body works...Can't imagine having a stomach the size of a football if I were 5 feet tall... The surgeon will decide when he sees you on the table.......
  17. Iron is taken at night with orange juice ..It helps with the effect of the iron...Muli I take at lunch, most others are around 3 in the afternoon..except Iron...That one I take before bed.... If I'm wrong...Has not hurt me so going to keep doing it......
  18. Seems to me you are right on track......You will gradually be able to eat more and tolerate more but it takes time .....There will be things you ate before that don't taste good anymore and other things you will love to eat...It is all a learning experience......I love fish and rarely ate it before my surgery.......
  19. I have 2 skinny friends who are now starting to diet because they are looking at me and seeing the progress I have been making....Remember I said skinny friends...One said that it will be just as hard for her to lose 20 lbs as it would be for someone else to lose 100.....I disagree with that comment......No one notices if you are 20 lbs over weight...BUT they sure notice if you are a 100 plus over weight......
  20. Most people think I had stomach surgery because of an ulcer.......I like it this way....never planning on sharing the truth with too many.......

Some people go through a food funeral....I did it and was very happy I did...I ate things that I knew I would never eat again.....That is why it was a funeral.... Everything you said I have felt...2 Years ago I visited my daughter and had to fly...My hubby quietly asked the stewardess for an extension for the belt...she gave him one and looked at me...That is where everything started to go wrong.....She treated me like dirt the entire 5 hours.....I was so uncomfortable in the seat it was unbelievable .....I will never forget the looks on peoples faces when they looked at me......I know they were thinking that I was.....@#$%^&*%^$#$..... And that was how I felt about myself too......I hate the laughing and finger pointing and the jokes I endured..... Now 9 months out...I am acceptably fat...No one even notices me anywhere I go..that is exactly how I like it....... I hope like you in 3 years I will be still on board working with my wonderful tool...And still going forward and loving life.... Thank you so much for your post!
  22. You are the champion of your own body.....Glad you found a surgeon who knows what he's doing this time....Like everything else there are good surgeons and bad surgeons... Your on your way again and thank goodness you don't have to gain weight to get the sleeve....That just interferes with the fine fight you have been doing already...... I'm so happy for you!!!!!
  23. Last night was the second time since my surgery that I wanted to comfort eat.....I thought I could eat something and it would have no backlash...I thought and thought about it and decided that if I did that I would only be hurting myself...no one else..... Once a food abuser, always a food abuser......That is how I see myself....So before I take that bite I think long and hard about everything I have been through and the place I am now and so far...no mistakes.... I will make them I know I will....But not last night...one victory for me.....The rest of my life to go!!!
  24. I have had it both ways since my surgery......People telling me that I was always huge and that I won't make it...To your not losing any more weight are you...You look pale.... I have decided not to take it anymore either...I now speak up and ask what are you are looking at...Or I say..NO..I still have weight to lose.... Prejudice is learned and if someone makes an off hand comment you can almost excuse it..But in my case these are people who know me...I have dumped the negative ones..And feel much lighter now....
  25. If you can eat some cottage cheese. It has twice the Protein as a glass of milk...Get some real turkey or chicken slices and roll them up....A couple of multi-grain crackers and you have a great lunch....I ate this a lot when I could not stand the protein shakes anymore and was literally hurling them after I drank them..... That is 1 idea!
