Does size matter?

Bougie {boo-ghee}

I grew up understanding the word "Bougie" meant you were acting/being uppity. But today this word has new meaning. A bougie is a guide that the surgeon uses to butt the stapler up against, when forming your Sleeve & they come in several sizes.

Does size matter?

Why are there so many to choose from & what makes the surgeon select which size is best for you?

Can you request which size bougie you'd like?

Gastric Sleeve Patients

There are different size stomachs according to your build, height.just the same as if I was 10 feet tall all my organs would be complementing that size......

Amazing how the body works...Can't imagine having a stomach the size of a football if I were 5 feet tall...

The surgeon will decide when he sees you on the table.......

LAP-BAND Patients

Most surgeons use a size that they are comfortable with - mine used a 40F because he believed it resulted in less complications. I started at 271lbs and 13 months later I'm at 125lbs.... got to goal. So its really more about what you do with what you have been given.
