  1. I had surgery on Tuesday and walked all over the state fair that Friday. Just make sure you take your pain meds and you should be fine. Have fun!
  2. So annoyed. A friend had surgery a week before me with the same esophageal hernia repair. She had her ten day post op appt and was told to stay on purée an extra two weeks to not irritate the repair. So not looking forward to being on purée that long. Same repair, same surgeon, I think the cards are against me.
  3. Care to share the taco soup recipe? Sounds yummy. Also looking for something new. Never heard if it before. Thanks!
  4. I walked all the state fair in Friday and felt like a million bucks. Didn't even sleep on the way home. Saturday morning felt like a train wreck again. Felt worse after walking around target yesterday than the fair Friday. Feel okay now except for stiff shoulders and neck.
  5. Just had surgery on 9/25 and all went well. Had an esophageal hernia repaired which was a complete shock. Just found out that I will probably be on puréed an extra two weeks because of it. A friend had surgery a week prior with the same surgeon, same hernia and at her ten day post op appt she was told two more weeks of purée so the esophagus doesn't get irritated. Doesn't mean of will happen to me too but I imagine it will. So sucks. With two week pre op liquid diet, and now this I won't have a solid thing to eat in over a month. Grrrr.
  6. Oooo, that sounds good. Too bad it has to be strained.
  7. Back to feeling icky today. Decided to take a pain pill and am starting to feel better. Will try again tomorrow not to take them. Sipping on Chinese soup broth. Got some isopure drink in last night. The one that has the carbs but at least it's still protein. Going to try and finish half that bottle today. That will be 20 grams of protein. Mom is coming to visit. We usually go out to dinner and breakfast. That will be so much fun not being able to eat anything. Oh well, such if life 4 days post op. or is it 5? Not sure if I count the day of surgery or not.
  8. I actually walked the entire Bloomsberg Fair today! So proud of myself. The only reason I even attempted it was because I knew the had scooters for rent! Drank a bottle of special K protein water in the process. Feel very tired right now but great at the same time. It's just what I needed to get out of the "sick bed" routine. Can't say walking past the blooming onion stand was easy but I knew I couldn't eat it so took a big whiff and off I went! Hope everybody is doing equally as well.
  9. I had surgery on 9/25 and am planning on going back 10/8. Hope I can do it because I still feel like crap.
  10. I know I'm not getting the required water in. My pain is not in my stomach but my chest. Probably should be using the breathing thingy more. Hate it though because it is uncomfortable. Wish I was feeling better by now. Can't believe a lady from another site went back to work already. No way!
  11. Fortunately No cramping here. Just tried some chinese soup broth and it's delish. Definitely Still on the pain meds though. Just make me feel so much better
  12. Amazing How different surgeons are. I don't get a post op leak test as nd I was on clear fluids 8 hours after surgery. So tired. Waiting for hubby's arrival to go home a meer 29 hours after surgery. Would like to stay another night for the quiet but No go
  13. If I could just get rid of this gas pain, I would be awesome.. slept pretty Good last night. Except for the sippy cup of water that decided to join me during the night!
  14. How is everybody doing? Slept most of the afternoon and am still exhausted. Pain not so bad since I got onto liquids and took oral liquid pain med.
  15. Does it have to be red wine? always hated red wine. Prefer zinfandel
  16. On the way myself! Best wishes everybody!
  17. I don't have to take anything tonight. Report time 8am. Surgery 10am. Had to shower with special soap though. Ready as I'll ever be. Will have my iPad with so I can update and see how every bodies doing. Here we go!
  18. Thought a beer sounded good! Lol I wasnt all morning because I was super busy but now that it is lunch time I'm a big time anxious. By this time tomorrow I will be in recovery. I keep reading this thread by a woman screen name Iggychic and she is going through some horrible complications. I understand that is the exception, not the rule but it still scares me. I so hope I am doing the right thing. If for any reason I have to out of work more than 25 days, I'm screwed because I dont have disability insurance and I only have 25 sick days saved up. Went to Walgreens this morning. No spray, no liquid generic Tylenol but got gas ex strips. Yesterday got some tums. I know I'm going to be scared to death tomorrow. Last time I felt like this was the day i moved and it was the worst experience. Total feeling of impending doom. Enough negative! I keep looking at before and after shots and can't wait to be an after! Down 20 lbs as of last night! Fat pants are a bit loose! Woo hoo! Anyone going to be on here tomorrow during recovery? I will be as soon as I am able.
  19. Ok, little freaky, in 24 hours I will be leaving for the hospital! Yikes!
  20. Haven't even given it a thought. Hospital says don't bring cell phones, etc but my hubby is dropping me off and going home with the kids so I have to be able to call people to let them know I'm ok. I was told to bring a small pillow to hold against your stomach while walking and getting up. Plus I'm a baby and I always bring my own pillow to sleep on.
  21. Wow that was quick. I probably could of had it already but my first appt was beginning of July and then I was away at a grad class for a week then 2 weeks down the shore. So 2nd surgeon appt was not till August. Got out of the sleep study and cardiac stuff. Just met with the doctors and got signed off of those. Plus could of been a week earlier if my pcp didnt drop the ball and sent her letter in when she said she would.
  22. Nah, He just wants me to get back into my "cute ass" jeans as He calls them! Lol
